Forbes Says Jennifer Lawrence Is Still Very Very Rich

Forbes has released yet another list of famous people with overstuffed bank accounts, and this time it’s a list of the world’s highest-paid actresses. If the world was a fair and just place, the top spot would obviously be a two-way tie between Barb from Stranger Things and Toby’s owner from the Stanley Steemer commercial, who would both be rolling in king-sized beds covered in cash. But no, that’s not the world we live in. Instead, Forbes says the #1 highest-paid actress in the world for the second year in a row is America’s cool cloves-smoking cousin Jennifer Lawrence.

Forbes calculations are made based on how much cash they brought in from movies and endorsements. According to Forbes, 90% of the women in the top ten have side jobs, like beauty contracts and clothing lines, to supplement their income. Stars, they’re just like our broke asses! (…is what I keep telling myself to keep from reality setting in).

For those of you thinking “Wait, wasn’t ScarJo just on the top of this list?“, that’s actually a different list. That one was a list of actors who made the most money from their movies. This one is about who made the most money total. Once again, the majority of JLaw’s cash comes from the profits she made off the final The Hunger Games movie. She also got a massive pile of cash for her upcoming film with Chris Pratt, Passengers. If it makes you feel better about the cartoon moths flying out of your wallet, JLaw’s dollar situation is down 11.5% from last year.

Here’s the top ten highest-paid actresses in the world. Jennifer Lawrence made $46 million. Forty. Six. Million. Damn girl, negotiate that cash!

1. Jennifer Lawrence – $46 million
2. Melissa McCarthy – $33 million
3. Scarlett Johansson – $25 million
4. Jennifer Aniston – $21 million
5. Fan Bingbing – $17 million
6. Charlize Theron – $16.5 million
7. Amy Adams – $13.5 million
8. Julia Roberts – $12 million
9. Mila Kunis – $11 million
10. Deepika Padukona – $10 million

I’m sure this is where some people will dust off their hands and declare that Hollywood’s wage gap has been solved. But yeah, not yet. Sure, those ten actresses are making the kind of money that could let them buy $1 million worth of jetskis and torch them for fun. But the numbers on that list look a little different when you compare them to last year’s Forbes list of highest-paid actors. You know, the one in which Adam Sandler is ranked at #5 with $41 million. And he doesn’t even have to hustle perfume and makeup on the side, either. Although I would be lying if I said I didn’t want to see what a Lancôme ad starring the human version of gym shorts would look like.
