Avril Lavigne And Ryan Cabrera Might Be A Thing Now
Speaking of people you haven’t really thought of since the MTV days of mid-2000s. Hot Topic’s unofficial mascot Avril Lavigne has been split up from Canada’s original shame (sorry Bieber) Chad Kroeger for almost a year. It appears that she’s finally ready to love again, and it looks like she’s chosen someone who is also taking forever to grow out of their ~sO eDGy~ pop punk mall rat phase.
On Tuesday night, TMZ caught Avril having a “romantic” steak dinner with her roommate Ryan Cabrera. Ryan was in New York on Tuesday night for his My2K tour. So was Avril. The two roommates met up and had a very not-roommates dinner. Sources say they were “cozy and cuddly” and kissed a few times. TMZ says that Avril has claimed that she and Ryan are just friends. Ryan tried to deny there was anything going on between the two of them, and he managed to make it worse. Ryan spoke to Page Six the day after he was caught kissing his roommate over steak. When asked if he was officially dating the Original Recipe Ashlee Simpson, Ryan answered:
“I see lots of people! Not in that way…I don’t mean like I see lots of people like that. It was a joke. Nowadays I tend to keep all love life stuff just completely separate just because you know how it is. You try to keep it private as much as you can.”
A day after Ryan proved that Ryan can’t be trusted to speak words that haven’t been pre-written, his rep gave an official statement.
“While we appreciate the interest in Ryan’s endeavors, at this time, we have no comment regarding TMZ’s latest report about Ryan’s personal life.“
Maybe Ryan and Avril trying to keep it quiet has something to do with her divorce from Chad. Maybe there was a stipulation in a prenup that stated Avril couldn’t get her hands on any of that sweet Nickelback money if she decided to rebound on someone with an even more embarrassing hair history than Chad. If that’s the case, then I can see why she’d want to keep it on the down-low.
And remember when I said up top that Ryan is still touring? We have Papa Joe Simpson to thank for that. Papa Joe is Ryan’s manager. It seems like a good fit. Ryan is an adult who still dresses like a teenager, and so is Papa Joe. Here’s Papa Joe leaving the club on Wednesday night looking like an aspiring teenage Instagram stylist who needs to get home before his mom realizes he snuck out.
