Natalie Portman Is Probably Done Making Marvel Movies

Whenever I think of superhero movies, I think of actors whose bank accounts will be stuffed with that sweet superhero franchise cash for a long long time. Or at least until we all get bored of watching grown-ass adults play pretend in capes and masks. But until that time, they’ve got some serious job security thanks to the 6.9 billion cross-over superhero films in production. However, there are always exceptions, and one of them is Natalie Portman.

Natalie was in 2011’s Thor as Thor’s astrophysicist girlfriend Jane. Two years later, she appeared in Thor: The Dark World. They’re currently making a third Thor movie (Thor: Ragnarok), but Natalie’s not in that one. And she recently admitted that it’s not just Thor: Ragnarok; she doesn’t think she’ll be in any more Marvel movies. Natalie recently told the Wall Street Journal (via Vulture) that as far as she knows, Jane isn’t a part of Thor’s story (thory?) anymore.

“As far as I know, I’m done. I don’t know if maybe one day they’ll ask for an Avengers 7 or whatever. I have no idea, but as far as I know I’m done. But it was a great thing to be a part of.”

Natalie is pretty positive about her superhero experience, which leads me to believe that maybe it wasn’t her choice not to return. Regardless of who didn’t return who’s calls, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige explained back in May that there were “many reasons” for why Natalie’s character wouldn’t be in Thor 3. One reason he gave is that Thor 3 takes place mostly in space. Jane is a human, and apparently she can’t leave earth or something.

Oh, so now we’re going for realism? It’s totally normal for one of the Avengers to turn into a giant green angry roided-up booger, but it’s impossible for Thor’s human girlfriend to join him space. Okay Kevin. I see what’s going on here. Thor obviously wants break up with Jane, but he’s too much of a pussy, so he’s getting his pal Kevin to make excuses about why Jane can’t come to space with him. Not cool, Thor! Cut the bullshit about space being “no humans allowed” and just admit that you’re not into Jane’s human ass anymore.
