Kesha Has Dropped Her Remaining Abuse Claims Against Dr. Luke

Two weeks ago, Kesha decided to drop the original lawsuit she filed against Dr. Luke in California back in 2014. Shortly after the news broke that she was legally backing away from her first lawsuit, Kesha hopped on Twitter to let everyone know that she was still pursuing the lawsuits that had been filed in New York. Kesha has changed her mind about that last one, because Billboard says she recently dismissed her remaining assault allegations.

Kesha confirmed to a New York judge on Friday that she would no longer be relying on the allegations of abuse in her legal fight against Dr. Luke. Kesha is still being sued by Dr. Luke for attempting to break the contract she signed with Kemosabe Records. Kesha’s argument for trying to get out of her contract was that Dr. Luke had allegedly assaulted her in all kinds of ways. She later added that forcing her to keep working with him was a form of “slavery.” The judge didn’t agree.

Kesha and Dr. Luke’s messy legal battle gives me a major headache, but here’s what I think I know so far about this situation: First Kesha’s mom Pebe Sebert dropped her countersuit against Dr. Luke for accusing her and Kesha of making up the abuse allegations up. Then Kesha dropped her original lawsuit accusing Dr. Luke of heinous sexual assault. Now Kesha is dismissing her abuse claims against Dr. Luke. Dr. Luke is still suing Kesha for trying to get out of her contract. Okay, I think that’s it. If you’ll excuse me, I believe I need two Advils and a nap.

Now that Kesha’s no longer using the abuse allegations as a defense, I have no idea what her argument for getting out of her contract will be. “Your honor, I can’t keep working with him because…I dunno, he’s a grown man who goes by the name Dr. Luke. Does that work for you?
