Taylor Swift Donated $250,000 To The #FreeKesha Defense Fund, Demi Lovato Isn’t Impressed

On Friday, the artiste formerly known as Ke$ha lost the latest round in her fight to get out of her contract with Sony. Kesha is suing her ex-producer Dr. Luke for allegedly drugging and raping her repeatedly, and she wants out of her contract with Sony so she can put out new music far, far away from him. The judge refused to put her contract with Sony in the shredder. Many pop types like Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, Ariana Grande Latte, Lorde, Lily Allen and Halsey let it be known on Twitter that they’re in Kesha’s corner. Many were waiting for Taylor Swift to say something since she’s the princess of women and the feminist hero we don’t deserve. On Sunday at 2:30 in the morning, Demi Lovato tweeted out a long stream of support for Kesha on Twitter and during her it, she threw a not-so-subtle, “Bitch, where are you?“, at Tay Tay.

Demi started her #FreeKesha speech by saying that it’s frustrating seeing someone brave like Kesha come forward with horrifying shit only to be shot down. And then Demi had something to say about “self-proclaimed feminists” who keep their lips shut when they should be screaming loud to help another woman. Some eyes went directly to Beyonce, but most eyes went to Taylor Swift. Demi tweeted a lot about “female empowerment,” but here’s the tweet that started it all:

Since Tay Tay’s PR team is ran by Olivia Pope, she responded but didn’t respond with words, she responded with money. Kesha’s mom and Taylor’s publicist confirmed last night that Tay Tay reached into her bedazzled Barbie coin purse, pulled out $250,000 in change and dropped it in Kesha’s hands. Kesha is apparently broke because Dr. Luke is keeping royalties from her. TMZ says that Kesha isn’t begging for money, though, and Taylor donated the cash out of kindness. Tay Tay’s publicist told Entertainment Tonight that the donation is a “show of support” and the $250,000 is to help any of Kesha’s “financial needs during this trying time.” Tay’s publicist apparently released that statement after Kesha’s mom tweeted this:

But Demi was not at all impressed with Taylor’s act of support. Demi tweeted this:

FYI: If Demi had her locations turned on, that tweet would’ve said that it was sent directly from the steps of Capitol Hill.

Some agreed with Demi since before Taylor was the apple of Apple’s eye, she slapped them down in an open letter she posted on Tumblr. But others went after Demi for making Kesha’s woes about her. Demi went off:

So let’s see, the story has gone from #FREEKESHA to “Demi Lovato Shades Taylor Swift” to “Taylor Swift Donates $250,000 to Kesha” to Demi turning it into “Demi Lovato vs. Taylor Swift, AGAIN.” I take back what I said about Taylor Swift being the feminist hero of our time. That title obviously belongs to Demi Lovato.

And Taylor’s Girl Squad must be so confused right now. Do they show their support for Kesha by donating money to her legal fund before having their publicist release a statement about it? Or do they get ready to shoot a music video for the Bad Blood remix called Bad Blood (The Fuck Demi Lovato Remix)? Lead them Commander Taylor!

Here’s Taylor leaving some restaurant in NYC with Girl Squad member Lena Dunham last night.
