Alan Rickman Has Died

What in the fuck, 2016? We all still have our black lace veils over our faces while mourning the death of David Bowie and now we’ll have to leave those black lace veils on a lot longer, because Alan Rickman has died. Just like David Bowie, Alan Rickman died of cancer and he died at the age of 69. It’s times like these when you say what everyone else is saying, which is eat shit, cancer, and fuck you universe for taking two beloved Brits in one week.

The Guardian says that Alan Rickman is now charming the angels with David Bowie after he died in London. He was surrounded by his family and friends at the time of his death.

Alan Rickman’s acting career started out in theater in London and he didn’t get into the movie game until he was 41 when he played Hans Gruber in Die Hard. Alan got the role just two days after he arrived in Los Angeles to audition for TV and movie stuff. After  that, a star was born. Alan starred in Truly, Madly, Deeply, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Michael Collins, Dogma, Love Actually and Sweeney Todd. When Alan played the villain, you rooted for that villain. He also shared screen time with Tom Selleck’s moustache in Quigley Down Under. I know that’s probably when he realized he really made it.

Alan Rickman is of course best known working that wig like no other as Snape in the Harry Potter movies, but for me, my favorite Alan Rickman performance is the one he gave in Galaxy Quest. Where’s his Oscar for that?!

Rest in peace, Alan Rickman.
