Ricky Gervais Doesn’t Care If His Caitlyn Jenner Jokes Offended Your Ass
As expected, Ricky Gervais offended a lot of people while hosting the Golden Globes on Sunday night. It wouldn’t be a Golden Globes hosted by Ricky Gervais unless a bunch of people spent their Monday morning filling up NBC’s inbox with angry voicemails calling for Ricky’s balls. Some people were offended over the funny Ben Affleck joke he made while introducing Matt Damon and many were upset over the jokes he made about Caitlyn Jenner and Jeffrey Tambor. But Ricky no care and he’s gleefully lighting his cigarette on the flames of rage coming off of the people who hated his jokes.
During his opening monologue, Ricky promised to be nicer and said that he’s changed “but not as much as Bruce Jenner.” Ricky also made the woman driver joke that a million people made eons ago when he said, “What a year she’s had! She became a role model for trans people everywhere, showing great bravery in breaking down barriers and destroying stereotypes. She didn’t do a lot for women drivers. But you can’t have everything, can ya? Not at the same time.” Ricky followed that up by joking about Jeffrey Tambor trying to tuck his Cisco Adler-like balls while playing a transgender character on Transparent. Transparent’s creator Jill Soloway told Buzzfeed that she gets that Ricky makes fun of everyone, but she thinks it would be harder to make jokes “if more people understood the violence trans people face every day.”
Ricky heard the hate coming his way and he says he loves it. Before tweeting the above picture with the note, “In the future, everyone will be offended by me for 15 minutes,” Ricky laid out a message to those offended:
Suggesting a joke about Caitlin Jenner is automatically transphobic is like suggesting a joke about Bill Cosby is automatically racist.

I fucking love it when you all argue.

Viewer: I'm offended by a joke you made.
Me: So?
Viewer: You gonna apologise?
Me: No.
Viewer: Then I won't watch you again.
Me: Correct

You have every right to be offended. Just don't cry when no one cares.

Hosting The Globes has made me want to do a new stand up show next year. Now THAT'S when you're allowed to be offended. You whiney cunts 🙂

I made a joke about Caitlyn Jenner killing someone in her car. I'm #TransportPhobic.

Outrage is the comedian's alchemy.

So let’s see, it’s been about two days since the Golden Globes happened and Ricky Gervais and the show are still getting attention. The Golden Globes’ ratings were down from last year’s, but I’m sure that smug NBC peacock is still going to knock on Ricky’s door to stuff a wad of bonus money and invitation to host next year between his furry man tits.
