Madonna Denies The Allegations That Sean Penn Beat Her

The rage-filled overcooked salchicha Sean Penn threw a $10 million defamation lawsuit at Empire creator Lee Daniels last September for calling him a lady beater in so many words. Lee Daniels said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that baby wipes aficionado Terrence Howard gets a whole lot of hate “when he ain’t done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn.” Sean Penn didn’t like that and sued him. Lee Daniels tried to get the lawsuit thrown out by submitting excerpts from a Madonna biography and articles from the Internet about the times that Sean allegedly beat her bad. The lawsuit wasn’t thrown out. And now Sean Penn’s lawyers have submitted an amended complaint complete with a declaration from Madonna herself.

Before I get into Madge’s signed affidavit, let’s get into the two stories she references. When Madge and Sean were separated in June 1987, they allegedly had a fight about getting back together and it ended with him hitting her in the head with a baseball bat. Madge supposedly went to Cedars-Sinai to get an X-ray, but she never filed a report with the cops. Madge and Sean eventually got back together and it’s been reported that in December 1989, he broke into her Malibu house and found her in the master bedroom where they fought. Sean allegedly tied her to a chair and drunkenly beat her on-and-off for 9 hours. She was able to get away and went to the police station. Sean was arrested and charged with battery and inflicting corporal injury. Madge filed for divorce a week later. She also dropped the assault charges.

Madge says in her declaration that all of that is a horrifying fable, because none of it happened. Here’s Madge’s denial courtesy of Jezebel:

I am aware of the allegations that have surfaced over the years accusing Sean of incidents of physical assault and abuse against me. Specifically, I am aware of the allegations concerning an alleged incident that occurred in June, 1987, whereby (according to tabloid reports), Sean allegedly struck me with “a baseball bat.” I know the allegations in those and other reports to be completely outrageous, malicious, reckless, and false.

I am also aware of allegations concerning an incident that occurred in December, 1989, which purportedly resulted in Sean’s arrest for domestic assault and battery against me. I know those allegations to be false. While we certainly had more than one heated argument during our marriage, Sean has never struck me, “tied me up,” or physically assaulted me, and any report to the contrary is completely outrageous, malicious, reckless, and false.

Madge hasn’t ever really talked about this before. During an interview with Rolling Stone in 1989, the interviewer brought up the story about Sean tying her to a chair and she said it was made up. When the interviewer pushed her and asked her if she filed, and later dropped, charges, she said she didn’t want to get into it.

The rumors about Sean beating Madonna have been around forever and have been repeated over and over again. So if it never happened, I’m not sure why she never came out and said, “Listen, Sean Penn may come off like a crazy piece of dog shit that’s been set on fire and throw into the gutter, but he has never pulled an Ike Turner on me.” Madge also said this in her declaration:

I have known Sean Penn for over thirty years. Over the decades, I have known Sean to be a caring, compassionate individual, as well as an extremely talented actor, creative artist, and philanthropist, including in connection with his work as CEO of the J/P Haitian Relief  Organization.

The only time the word “caring” should be used to describe Sean Penn is when words “is not” are before it. Madge laid it on as thick as Sean Penn lays on the Crisco before he sunbathes under a McDonald’s heat lamp. What does he have on you, Madge? What does he have on you? Tell us by blinking in Morse code.
