Bar Refaeli Busted For Tax Evasion In Israel
And to answer the question in your head: Yes, that’s her mug shot.
The BBC says that yesterday, model and Leonardo DiCaprio’s ex, Bar Refaeli, spent 12 hours being questioned by officials from the Israel Tax Authority in Tel Aviv. They suspect that she cheated on her taxes. That questioning led to Bar and her mother Tzipi getting detained today. They were later released on $193,000 bail. Their passports were also snatched away and they can’t leave the country without permission for six months.
Officials believe that Bar’s schemes include trying to hide that she’s a resident of Israel by living in apartments in Tel Aviv that are registered in her mother’s and brother’s names. They believe that Bar did this so that she wouldn’t have to declare money she made in other countries. Bar has also been accused of not reporting fancy gifts she got in exchange for modeling work. Bar reportedly got a Range Rover and a Lexus as payment for modeling jobs and she never reported that shit. She’s accused of not reporting millions of dollars in income.
Bar’s lawyer issued a statement saying that everyone needs to keep it moving, because there’s nothing to see here and there is no שַׁעֲרוּרִיָה! (Rosetta Stone’s drunk cousin Google Translate tells me that’s “SCANDAL” in Hebrew.)
“There is no drama. In the end, this is just a civil dispute. No one cheated anyone else. It will all clear up soon.”
When I saw this headline earlier, I thought it was one of those, “Oh, I’m just a rich celebrity! My accountant takes care of those things! I don’t know about taxes! Lalalalala, let’s go buy diamonds for my dog,” situations. But they’re accusing her ass of going above and beyond. This isn’t the first time that Bar’s been accused of doing shady shit. It was reported a few years ago that she dodged a mandatory military draft by marrying a family friend. In Israel, every citizen over the age of 18, except for married women, have to serve in the military at least once. Bar divorced her first husband 2 years after marrying him.
Bar got married to an Israeli billionaire a few months ago so I’m sure this will all be cleared up as soon as he pulls a couple of million out of his change jar to make this go away. No, she shouldn’t pay anything! Bar is way too hot to serve in the army and she’s way, way too hot to pay taxes. Serving in the army and paying taxes are for homely hags and poors. The government should be paying her, not the other way around. Bar makes the country a much more beautiful place just by living in it. They owe her!
But if it’s true, I kind of hope she does go to prison, because I want to see the New York Post headline: BAR BEHIND BARS!
