Caitlyn Jenner Is Sorry About That “Man In A Dress” Comment

Caitlyn Jenner once again showed her true Kartrashian kolors in an interview with Time when she said that many people get all weirded about a “man in a dress” and so she works on her appearance because it puts people “at ease.” I shouldn’t have said “true Kartrashian kolors.” Yeah, the Kartrashians are vain and vapid plastic mannequins who only care about their looks, but they don’t do it to put people at ease, obviously. Kim Kartrashian looking like a rubber trout suffocating in a Spanx cocoon is the opposite of calming.

Many people filed Caitlyn’s words under: Dumb Shit That Has Come Out Of Catilyn Jenner’s Mouth. So Caitlyn said sorry in a piece she (and a team of publicists, probably) wrote on WhoSay.

Caitlyn said that she’s still learning and sometimes her thoughts don’t come out right.

This week a lot of attention was brought to my comments in my TIME interview, in which I said that my appearance is important to me, that I want people to be at ease when they encounter me, and that people are still uncomfortable if a trans person looks like “a man in a dress.”

I think I caused a lot of hurt with this comment, and I’m truly sorry.

What I was trying to say is that our world really is still a binary one, and that people who look “visibly transgender” sometimes can struggle for acceptance and may be treated poorly by others. And while this may be true, it’s also something that needs to change.

Some people look gender non-conforming because they want to look that way – they don’t want to conform to society’s expectations. Those people have every right to look and present exactly as they choose. And then there are other people who don’t have the resources to access the medical procedures that would help them look the way they would like to look. Procedures, incidentally, that most health insurance plans refuse to cover. All of these people are my brothers and my sisters, and I am fighting alongside them, too.

Caitlyn also said that she knows this won’t be the last time she burps up something stupid. To which the world said, “WE KNOW!

Because she’s famous, Caitlyn instantly became the face of the transgender movement when she’s practically a newborn trans baby and is still learning. She should probably be sitting in class, taking notes instead of being the voice of the trans community. It’s kind of like if a 4th grader who was runner-up for student council rep suddenly became the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination. Actually, that’s a shit analogy, because a 4th grader would be a billion steps up from the current frontrunner.
