Rob Lowe Is Taking Shit For A Bunch Of Tweets He Made After The Attacks In Paris

Siri, how many people are pissed at me right now? That many? Oh crap…

Shortly after the horrible, awful attacks in Paris happened on Friday night, pretty much every famous person took to Facebook and Instagram and Twitter and Snapchat and that thing Madonna was trying to make happen (Meerkat?) and filled it with their thoughts and prayers and #PrayForParis hashtags and red-white-and-blue. Of course, there has to be one person who makes a bunch of people cross their arms and shake their heads while saying “No…no…“, and that person was Rob Lowe.

Instead of re-gramming that Eiffel Tower peace sign drawing (something I’m sure his PR person would love to go back in time and have him do instead), Rob hopped on Twitter and snarked on the speech French President Fran├žois Hollande gave in response to the attacks. Somewhere in Michigan, Chris Traeger is like “That is *literally* the worst idea you’ve ever had.

Eventually, after the internet started dragging him for being insensitive, Rob got back on Twitter. But it wasn’t to yank down his tweets or apologize; it was to swat back at everyone acting like he’d committed a crime more cringe-worthy than singing with Snow White at the 1989 Oscars.

Something was clearly making Rob feel extra sassy on Friday night, because he also took a swipe at Ridley Scott for classifying The Martian as a comedy at the Golden Globes. Damn, Rob Lowe – you’re supposed to leave the salt in the ocean.

I feel like Rob Lowe could have easily avoided all this messy Twitter drama if he had just forwarded a draft of his Tweets to his co-star on The Grinder, Fred Savage, for a second opinion. Just to give them a quick once-over with a couple notes, like “Er…maybe I wouldn’t add that ‘worst speech ever given’ part.” Kevin Arnold will never steer you wrong.
