Danny Pintauro From “Who’s The Boss?” Has HIV, Wants To Be An HIV Activist

Danny Pintauro, aka Jonathan Bower from “Who’s The Boss?“, recently sat down with Lindsay Lohan’s former best friend Oprah for an episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now? (via People). Danny had two pretty big updates regarding his life: Danny admitted to Oprah that he’s been HIV positive for the past 12 years, and that he used to be really into crystal meth. Crystal meth? Jonathan, no! What would Tony say??

Danny says he started using crystal meth back in 2003, which is also around the same time he was diagnosed with HIV. According to Danny, crystal meth made fucking feel like it was his birthday every day, so he got really into both (ie. meth and fucking). After three years, Danny decided to get clean; he eventually got his life together, which included getting married back to a dude named Wil Tabares in 2014. He says he’s only had a couple “regrettable” relapses since 2005, but adds that meth is “the kind of drug where years and years and years and years later, I still have cravings.”

After he was done talking about meth, he got even more real by confessing to Oprah that he was HIV positive.

Now Danny wants to be an activist for the HIV community. Danny explained to Oprah:

“So now that all of this is happening, I feel like the fates are telling me that this is my opportunity to be that beacon of light, and I’m going to do everything and anything I can to live up to that.”

“I feel like one of the ways the community is going to listen is for me to be pretty harsh. It’s not going to be, ‘Hey guys, let’s work on fixing this.’ It’s going to be, ‘Get your fucking shit together,’ pardon my language.”

He’s also sad that he wasn’t able to avoid joining the really long list of child stars who got into some bad shit.

“The one reaction that I know is going to happen for sure – the one that really makes me the most sad and the one that I really can’t do anything about – is the disappointment that I didn’t live up to that short list of child celebrities that haven’t gotten involved in drugs or alcohol in some way, shape or form. The disappointment is going to hurt the most.”

Shortly after his episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now? aired last night, Danny threw up a picture of himself and his husband Wil on Instagram to celebrate his first day as an HIV activist.

Last meal as a nobody. 😉 first meal as an activist. #lifelovelive

Last meal as a nobody“? Somebody needs to inform Danny that he’s the opposite of a nobody. He was once life legend Katherine Helmond’s pretend grandson, and I believe that’s the definition of a very important somebody.
