Robert De Niro Is Not Here For Your “Negative Interference,” Darling

Robert De Niro has made it pretty clear in past interviews that he’d rather get his asshole cleaned with boric acid than talk about himself and the movie he’s supposed to push. Robert De Niro pretty much hates interviews. So when Emma Brockes of the Radio Times asked him questions he didn’t like, he made like Naomi Campbell and Robert Downey Jr. and busted on out of there but not before he spit out what I hope is his new catchphrase: “I’m not doing this, darling!”

That Nancy Meyers movie where Robert De Niro plays a pepaw intern who works for Oscar Winner Anne Hathaway (I’m calling her Oscar Winner Anne Hathaway, because I’m pretty sure she legally changed her name to that) is coming out soon and so he has to pimp it out in interviews whether he likes it or not. According to The Independent, De Niro seemed “depressed” during his interview with Emma and answered her questions “glumly.” The interview started going downhill fast when Emma asked him how he keeps himself from going on “autopilot” mode on set, and it crashed and burned when she said that his beloved Tribeca neighborhood had been taken over by bankers. De Niro had enough of that shit and told Emma she was being negative. As De Niro stuck his head out of the door to look for an assistant to save him, he and Emma had this little back and forth:

EB: Hang on. So where else am I being negative?’

RDN: The question about being on autopilot — negative inference.

EB: Wait, but I asked that question to establish how it is you manage not to be on autopilot.

RDN: There’s a negative inference.

EB:  I have to say, now that you’re going on about it, it makes me think you were on auto-pilot and you’re super-sensitive about it.

RDN: I’m not doing this, darling.

EB: I think you’re very condescending.

RDN: Oh, you think ‘darling’ is condescending?

What is she trying to say with that “auto-pilot” shade? Is she trying to say that Robert De Niro gave anything but a riveting and deep performance in The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle? How dare she. I’m also mad at Emma Brockes for not recording video of the entire interview and uploading it to YouTube. I need to see Robert De Niro’s delivery of “I’m not doing this, darling,” because if he said it with a messy Texas accent, that means he’s a die-fan of Showgirls (Happy birthday, Showgirls!), which would mean that I’m 100% on his side. Because anybody that quotes Showgirls during an argument automatically wins.

And here’s Cristal De Niro (wearing Versayce) posing with Oscar Winner Anne Hathaway (wearing Hefty garbage bags) at The Intern premiere in NYC last night.
