The Olsens Have Been Sued By Interns Who Say They Were Overworked And Unpaid

A group of extremely brave souls are rising up against the dark lemurs of fashion, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, because they claim that they were basically treated like slave laborers while interning for the fashion label The Row. When those dark-sided Olsens get through with those traitors, they’re really going to know the meaning of “slave labor,” because they’ll be banished to Hell where they’ll have to spend every minute of the day making CROCs for Lucifer.

Page Six says that 40 former and current interns have filed a class action lawsuit in Manhattan Supreme Court against Dualstar Entertainment Group, the licensing and manufacturing company owned by the Olsens. The lead plaintiff, Shahista Lalani, was a design intern and worked directly under the head technical designer of The Row. Shahista claims that the head technical designer worked her to the bone and treated her like a piece of polyester. I was going to say “shit,” but to the Olsens, polyester is probably worse than shit. Shahista didn’t get a dime even though she worked 50 hours a week.

“I was doing the work of three interns. I was talking to her [the head technical designer] all day, all night. E-mails at nighttime for the next day, like 10 p.m. at night.

It was like 100 degrees outside. I’d just be sweating to death. I probably carried like 50 pounds worth of trench coats [to the factory]. When we weren’t doing something, they’d be like, ‘Organize the buttons in the back by color code.’ You’re cleaning. You don’t get a set 15-minute break. You just go with their crazy flow. You just [got] caught up in the pressure.

You’re like an employee, except you’re not getting paid. They’re kind of mean to you. Other interns have cried. I’d see a lot of kids crying doing coffee runs, photocopying stuff.”

So, let’s see, broke, crying on the job, working 50 hours a week and wishing you were anywhere but there. Welcome to the real world of working, youngins’!

But seriously, Shahista claims that shit got so bad that she was hospitalized for dehydration. Did she not drink water while working? Did the Olsens taunt her and tell her that they’ll quench her thirst by spitting in her mouth as soon as she finished organizing their collection of capes by various shades of black. (That probably happened for real.)

Actually, Shahista never worked directly for the Olsens, but says that they are very nice and not mean to anyone. Good save.

The lawsuit claims that the interns didn’t even get college credit. The interns believe they should have gotten paid at least minimum wage plus overtime.

Both the Olsens, who are worth $300 million, and Dualstar had nothing to say about the lawsuit.

Hmmm… something is a little off about this lawsuit. I mean, I didn’t think the Olsens had actual human beings working at their company. I thought that deep in the darkest part of the forest is a fortress where a group of possessed mice, elves and crows spend every second of the day tirelessly making the clothes that their overlords, the Trollsens, sell for thousands of dollars at Saks. That’s what I thought!
