The Tamperer (which sounds like the name of a tampon-tampering evil cartoon character created by a Tampon company) was a dance music duo from Italy and in the late 90s they asked American singer and actress Maya Days to sing on their track “Feel It.” It came out in 1998 and was #1 in the UK and #4 on the US dance chart. It was like the gay anthem of 1998. I listened to that song so many damn times in the late 90s that it squeezed into the tightest crack in my brain and has been there ever since. I rarely listen to it and I don’t even have it on my iTunes, but every now and again it lets me know that it’s still stuck in my brain and I start singing it. Warning: After you press play, you will rip your shirt off, body glitter will magically appear all over your body and that Ikea lamp on your desk will transform into a strobe light.
I never remember the name of the song, so just like somebody said in the YouTube comments, I found it by searching “What she gonna look like with a chimney on her.” I never ever knew what that part meant. Part of the glory of listening to this song is picturing Maya dropping an actual chimney on some trick fucking on her man. She Santa Claus’d that bitch. But I looked it up today and “chimney” is an old -timey saying for “black eye.” I love it when I find out the meaning of a song I listened to over a decade ago. The more you know.
