Hot Slut Of The Day!

Sherri Gray, the 72-year-old memaw from Nashville who wrote a gay marriage ballad in honor of her lesbian niece’s upcoming wedding.

Grandma Gray told Gay Star News (via Buzzfeed) that she’s not an activist, but that when she learned that her niece and her niece’s girlfriend are getting married in August, the universe spoke to her soul and told her that she must write a gay marriage love song from a straight point of view. So the grandma of 8 sat down at her out-of-tune piano and the musical notes spilled out of her mouth. Grandma Gray uploaded the song “What If We Are Just Like You? (Shannon And Lisa’s Song)” to YouTube and says that she might perform it at their wedding. Grandma Gray explained the song and her feelings about gay marriage like this:

“I’m not an activist, but I get goddamn mad by narrow-mindedness and prejudice and crazy stuff. My belief is who are we to say what is a soul? What color, what gender, what nationality is a soul? How can we put a label on anybody?

I’m not a religious nut but I think the universe, God, someone said, ‘OK here you go kiddo, here’s another song.’ It just came to me. It’s not just for all LGBT people, as there are a heck of a lot of people who love folks who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. We’re not all crazy, we’re not all nutjobs, and we don’t hate all LGBT people.”

If I could have another grandma, I’d want her to be Memaw Gray. Her song…. Her gloriously gorgeous mushroom hair… Her use of the word “nutjobs“…. Her shirt… It’s all a YES from me. This is my favorite song to come from a memaw this year and it will stay my favorite song from a memaw this year until it’s discovered that my abuelita secretly wrote a song called “Lárgate De Mi Casa (The Chancleta Remix).
