Josh Brolin And Diane Lane Are Over
And here I was thinking that they divorced a long time ago and she was dating one of the dudes from Murder by Numbers. But that was just me confusing them with Sean Penn and Robin Wright.
Josh Brolin and Diane Lane announced today that they are breaking up after being married for 8 years. The rep let UsWeekly know that their split isn't dramatic or ugly or escandaloso (which means that their split was probably dramatic, ugly and escandaloso).
"Diane Lane and Josh Brolin have decided to end their marriage. It was a mutual decision. It is very amicable. It's not ugly, it's just over."
Josh and Diane didn't have any kids together. Josh has two kids with his first wife and Diane has a daughter with her first husband Christopher Lambert.
Josh has been arrested a couple of times for being a drunken mess in public and he was arrested in 2004 for spousal battery. Diane did not press charges and said the whole thing was a misunderstanding.
So lock up your booze cabinets and get ready, because the drunk mess that is Josh Brolin is really going to go wild now that his wedding ring is off. Josh is going guzzle and fuck until he passes out and then he's going to get up and do it all over again. I also kind of agree with several other posters' assessments of "nice guys". Nice guys are often just whiners who sulk when they don't get what they're expecting because they actually feel that their niceness (whatever the hell that is) makes them more entitled than a bad boy.
I remember reading Stephen King's "It" (my mother took my then 2-year-old son to the mall to pick out a birthday present for me and that's what he came back with haha) and in it the lone female protagonist with a history of childhood abuse perpetrated by her father married an abusive asshole. It was an aha moment for me because it was the asshole who picked her out of the crowd. He read her body language (bitten nails etc) and then approached her as if she were the most interesting, worthy person he had ever met. Of course, when the abuse started she thought she was the one who did something wrong and it was always her fault (for a while). I'm not saying that all male (or female) abusers are manipulative in this way, but it was the first time I had ever heard of an abusive relationship being something other than the woman's need to subconsciously relive and put right her past or be attracted to only those on the same level as her self-esteem. In short, I was always given the impression that she's the one who throws herself into the abuser's path. Anyway, it's obvious that Ri and CB are codependent, and that goes a little deeper than nice guy/bad boy if you ask me.

I totally agree. I think DL was even dumber than Rhiana. At least Rhiana can blame her age for her stupidity, but DL knew better. Though rumor has it DL is a drunk too, but keeps it a bit more hidden.
I like DL as an actress, but I'll never forget Bon Jovi's "You Give Love a Bad Name." Jon Bon Jovi's wife should have sent DL a thank you gift because whatever DL did to Jon sent him screaming back to New Jersey.

Hmm, actually that's an interesting point. There's only one difference here for me between these two and Rihanna and Chris. These two were married. For me, marriage is a lifelong commitment and if my spouse started being abusive I would exhaust all resources to improve things (e.g. cognitive behavior therapy, group counseling, anger management, whatever it takes). If you're dating a guy or girl that has issues you really should get your head together and look for someone else, why handicap a future marriage from the start? However, some of you wrote that Lane was already married before. So, she may not have subscribed to the whole lifelong thing--not that it necessarily meant she didn't care about her marriage--so it should have been slightly easier for her to leave.
Anyway, it seems like abuse can really turn into a mind game and young or old you can really be messed up by it. I think Rihanna gets a lot of crap because she quit Chris and then went back to him. However, that's not really what happened. I don't think she fully resolved to leave him, I think her PR people created the distance. So she never sat around loathing him thinking she should leave (like people think she did). She didn't process it. So she's continuing the abuse. In reality, she's more like Lane in the middle of her marriage than the idiot who came back after analyzing everything and deciding she wants more. I don't think she ever got out of the fog.
So I guess because Lane JUST left she gets applauded for leaving, somewhat like Rihanna did when she didn't get back together with Chris initially. But, if Lane rescinds the divorce I think she'll get the same kind of backlash.

I think the Nice Guyz do more to promote the bad boys than anything else. After spending time with men who create implicit contracts in their head (nice = sex) then get pissy when they don't get it, it can be a release to just go for a guy who knows what he wants, spells it out and will walk rather than sulk if it's not coming.
