Pour yourself something sparkling, slip into your nicest sweats, turn down the lights, light a Glade candle, sit back and spend some time with these pictures of Billy Crystal's long-lost unicorn twin brother spreading the glitter through the The Grove in L.A. yesterday afternoon. This is some fappin' to the oldies shit. I doubt any of y'all give a shit... But I'm frustrated beyond belief. As I said in the last post, my deceased husband didn't earn enough credits to pass along to our son. It's been a struggle but we've made it. What set me off was on Friday, my colleague asked me if his family helps at any way. They don't. They don't call. They don't send bday cards, Christmas cards, they don't do anything. I tried for the first few years to maintain a relationship with them but when you give and give and it's not reciprocated, I decided to stop trying. I wish I could either make them care or make myself stop caring.

So sorry to hear this, about your husband's passing and his family's standoffishness. It's very sad that they've chosen to shut out their own flesh and blood, due to their lingering grief or whatever other reasons, but they've made their decision and so all you can do is accept the situation for what it is, and concentrate on going forward from here. You have done your part.
Build your son up with strong relationships from other adults in his life....your immediate and extended family (on your side), neighbors, teachers, coaches, parents of his friends, etc. Focus on making your lives as rich and fulfilling as possible and cultivate happiness elsewhere. Also, consider finding a support group (in person, or online)--people who understand what you're going through can make all the difference--and/or seeing a counselor. Even having someone serve as a sounding board can help immensely.
Bit by bit, you'll get that strong network back. good luck!!!

I'm sorry you're going through that. People can be shitty, can't avoid that. Well, yes you can, don't see them again if they're so inconsiderate. Unfortunately, you can only control how you handle it. Your son will come appreciate all your doing for him and the struggle you're going through to keep things under control. If you can build a support network amongst family and friends who are kinder toward you, you'll be better off than worrying about those miserable people. And you may find that people are supportive here.

You can't make them care, if they don't. Maybe your son reminds them of the one they lost and it's too painful? Not trying to excuse it, but it does seem odd.
You are the one that has to stop caring about that, unfortunately. Is there a Big-Brother type organization where you live, so your son can have a male to look up to, etc, if there aren't any males on your side to help with that?
Sorry you got a short stick and lost your hubby so early. That sucks.

There is nothing I loathe more than dubbed songs, films and edited writing. Nothing. I am not against protecting sensitive ears but please have someone with some competence and talent do it because the way they butcher material is very infuriating.
It brought Muse back up the charts that's all that counts. I say pfffft to the critics. ;)

Yeah, I was actually more interested in going to see the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza that was close to there, but the friends I traveled with had other plans, so never made it.
If I'm going to go to a new place, I generally like to get more of the local flavor, than just lounge on the beach by a huge hotel. Which is exactly like WR described, lol.

Icona Pop would have replaced SHM if I didn't have to explain the NSFW lyrics. The song is blowing up on U.S. radio - I guess "shit" will be replaced with "stuff," while "bitch" will stay (if Brit Brit can get away with it on that horrid "Scream and Shout," it should fly here.
The video for "Madness" was directed by the same guy that did their "Neutral Star Collision (Love is Forever)" video. There are a lot of critics of the song, saying they "jumped the shark," but it made a fan out of me.

@Mike, definitely. Sometimes planning for it is even better than the trip. You never get that time back so if you can afford it, it's well worth doing. I met a guy who quit his job in management every 5-6 years to travel with his family because it recharged his batteries. He is luckier than most in that he always finds another job... I found that approach to life very interesting.

Eh. Honestly, it's the most American-seeming Mexican city (even more so than some Texas border towns, believe it or not), but it will give you a better impression of the "real" Mexico than any resort area.
We just tried to get some things done before "THE STORM" comes. Were supposed to get a nasty one in with hail on Wednesday.
