Sandy From Melrose Place Gets Only 3 Years In Prison
Today in Somerville, NJ, Amy Locane-Bovenizer, who was Sandy in the first season of Melrose Place and Allison in Cry-Baby, was sentenced to 3 years in the clink after she was convicted in November of vehicular manslaughter.
Amy's booze alcohol level was three times over the legal limit when she crashed her Chevy Tahoe into a car, killing the passenger, 60-year-old Helene Seeman. Amy could've gotten up to 10 years, but the judge reduced her sentence all the way down, because she has a 4-year-old daughter who suffers from Crohn's disease and he felt sorry for her (cut to Lindsay Lohan trolling a children's hospital to look for a girl with Crohn's disease to kidnap). When the judge gently slapped Amy down with only a 3 year sentence, the victim's family cried over the injustice and left the court room.
HuffPo says that Amy has already served 81 days in the clink, so she'll be eligible for parole in 2 1/2 years. Once she gets out of prison, her drivers license will be suspended for 5 years, she'll be on probation for 3 years and she'll have to pay thousands of dollars in fines. Before Amy's sentencing, her lawyer told the judge that her two young daughters were in a bad way while she was in prison and her 4-year-old's health was getting worse. After sentencing, Amy's mother said that she was happy that her granddaughters will have their mom back soon.
Amy apologized to Helene Seeman's family, but they didn't give three shits about what she had to say. Helen's 26-year-old son Ford told reporters that Amy's soft sentence made their suffering worse.
I was going to say that if Amy wasn't a celebrity the judge would've sentenced her to 20 years in prison and also sentenced her mom to 20 years in prison for giving birth to her, but then I remembered that the homeless lady who chases dogs in the park across the street from my apartment building probably has more fans than this bitch does. Amy's last major acting job was playing Maggie Gyllenhaal's sister in Secretary and that was over 10 years ago. I guess we know that judge's favorite Melrose Place character was fucking Sandy.

What a nonsense sentence. Put me in the club with those who HATE, no, LOATHE drunk drivers. When I was in high school, my best friend came to school one day, white as a sheet. She's sitting in class, tearing up. I whispered to her, "what's wrong?" She replied in a soft whisper, "My parents died." A drunk driver hit them on their way back from work. I'll never forget that moment or that feeling.
If the justice system really wants to make an impact, increase the sentences for this. There is nothing "accidental" about driving drunk. Very deliberate decision when you could easily call a friend, call a cab or lock yourself in your car and sleep it off.
Well at least she got some jail time. Brandy and Rebecca Gayheart should have done time. Distracted by a phone or alcohol ... what's the difference. Brandy has NEVER accepted responsibility. Bitch.
I have actually been a fan of Amy Locane since my teens. Interesting, stunning, bitchy looking for a skinny blond. Thus is sad for the victim, her, her child...sads all around.

This is bullshit. I don't understand why prison sentences are so light for something like this. So you didn't intend to drive and kill someone because you drank, but you should know that it's a possibility. People drink and drive with such carelessness these days because they think they know how to drive well and they can manage it somehow. You can't manage it just like people with diseases of chemical imbalances in the brain can't manage it.
She should have got more than 3 years. I hope the victim's family sues and collects a lot of money. I'm sorry that she has a sick child at home that needs her; it obviously didn't bother her that she had to get shitfaced and drive.

I knew a sweet girl who was in college and working more than two jobs to support herself. She lived in the middle of nowhere, cornfields of Ohio, some town I never heard of...it's 6AM she's driving from some job to go home and sleep for a couple hours before class, falls asleep at wheel, head on collison with 60 year old woman. She got two years.
Then, there's this awful bitch there who has the face of Alice from the Brady Bunch, this evil, hateful nasty manipulating gay for the stay witch, goes on a date with this dude, gets drunk and in an argument with him, backs over him and then repeatedly runs him over several times. She got 13 years.
I felt bad for the first girl, I wish the second girl would rot in there, she has no purpose and no reason to be released. I wish her the worst.
This Locane chick should have gotten 10 years AT LEAST. don't we all know drunk driving is against the law? And bitch, you're so worried about your kid - well, you should have thought about that before getting behind the wheel drunk. You aren't the only woman with kids to be locked up. deal with and see her on visiting days.
dumb bitch

This is disgusting beyond words. This bitch got drunk and TOOK SOMEONE'S LIFE AWAY and only gets 3 years in jail? That woman Helen isn't coming back. Her family has to wake up every morning and expect to never see their mother or grandmother or sister ever again because this bitch got drunk. This is absolutely disgusting.

This crap pisses me off....that the judge gave her a lighter sentence
In the last year or so, there have been many drunk driving homicides around my town and every fucking time the judge just taps their wrist. One young guy killed his friend on Christmas Eve but his dad is some high up Minister in the federal government so he only did a few months and is now out. The latest one is this woman dentist who killed some poor schmuck who was driving home from work and she shows absolutely no remorse or responsibility. We won't find out her fate until next month but I expect her punishment will be minimal at best.
This crap pisses me off....that the judge gave her a lighter sentence because she happens to have a child with a serious illness. Fuck that! The kid's extended family should be providing care for her while the mom serves her time. Do you think, if this were a *father* with a disabled child, that the courts would give a damn? not likely. Disgusting double standard, really.

Any reason the child's father couldn't take care of the kid while her mother's serving time?

How awful. Three years? Unbelievable. I would be absolutely devastated if this drunk bitch killed my mom and had to serve only three measly years.
On a side note, I can't remember a SANDY on Melrose Place and I watched it every week. Granted, I was about 13.
What an awful awful story for all concerned.
ETA: Aries1B I swear I didn't read your posting before I posted(!)
What did I get from this picture? How nice the guard's french tip manicure looked.
Man what an awful awful story.Yes her sentence is way too lenient, however she is going to live with this for the rest of her life.Daily when she looks into her reflection in the mirror she'll see the damage she's cause herself, her children, her life and the victim and their family it will never go away,it will never end.Her jail sentence is just a prelude to what she will have to endure til the end of her life, just fucking tragic on every level
that's all

@tatiana, you're right. One of the local UPS drivers here in Salem killed his passenger while driving under the influence years ago. He was high and drunk. He got a COUPLE of years. TWO. For vehicular manslaughter, he got two years, probation and then got to expunge his record and then DELIVER for UPS. WTF!!! I love this town. (that's why I'm moving)
BTW...heard through the grapevine he drove his friend to the other side of town after a few beers. Yeah, they learn!

I've had Crohn's for 21 years, numerous surgeries and have had an ileostomy for 8 years now. Crohn's sucks ass and constantly wrecks havoc on my life. However, her sentence is a slap in the face to the victim's family. Feel horrible for the victim and Locane's kid.
Since when is your kid's IBS grounds to reduce your sentence? Wait'll the kid grows up and learns her mom is a drunken killer. Then her butt will truly flare up.
The heirs can sue her, but she likely has no assets, was uninsured, and will file b/k once the judgment hits.
Is Bovenizer a fancy word for cow killer?
All jokes aside, this rank human creature should have gotten ten years!
I truly feel sorry for the victims family.
IMO drunk driving is pre meditated murder, and it should be treated as such.
This piece of shit should have gotten 10 years at least.
She killed a woman and ruined her poor husband's life, fucking smegma stain.

As someone with Chrons it's a total cunt of a disease. I've had it since I was twelve. I had to quit my job and I've had to put off school recently for it. I get IV transfusions every six weeks, I've had four blood transfusions an an iron transfusion. And mines not even a bad case of it.
That being said I call total bullshit on this. A woman lost her life because of this drunk bitch. Chrons or no Chrons she should have to pay for what she did. Fuck her and that judge.
I agree 100% My boyfriend has been suffering from Chrons for about 12 years. The medication they gave him did not work and he was in and out of the hospital sometimes for weeks. That still is no excuse for driving drunk and killing someone.
The video Mr. Seeman and his son are hardcore tragic.
Amy Locane is not remorseful, not in the least. Three years for murder is offensive.
Oh my gawd I know the tiny town of Somerville, NJ as my former in-laws lived in the tinier and more wretched, next door town of Manville. There are a lot of alcohol and crank (local lingo for speed) problems in that neck of the woods. I believe Manville was infamous for having the most bars per capita in the country.
Three years is not enough of a punishment for vehicular homicide. There is no excuse for this kind of deadly selfishness.
Weird, wild stuff. I met her about 8 years ago. She was very nice, but a little kooky. Someone caught her posing in the mirror to herself.
Amy's sentence is unfortunately not that light compared to most sentences for drunk driving; I haven't ever heard of a drunk driver getting a really harsh sentence, famous or not. People getting longer sentences for smoking pot than for driving drunk.
It seems like people who commit vehicular manslaughter always get slaps on the wrist. Sad for the victim's family. They should sure her for pain and suffering.

I'm sad for the victim's family who won't get her back no matter what the sentence. Maybe she should have gotten at least 5 years, since the kids have their grandmother to care for them but then what would a person who hurts more get? smdh.

I just recently rewatched every goddamned season of Melrose Place on Netflix. I'm really embarrassed to admit that. (No, I'm not.)
This bitch was annoying, as was most of the first season. Shit didn't get good until Amanda Woodward and her Flowbee hair came on the scene. Got even better when Billy finally left the show. Andrew Shue was such a shitty actor that watching him struggle to mumble out a sentence made you want to hand over an Honorary Actor to Sad Keanu.
Who is this bitch?
My oldest has chrohn's as well, yeah , it sucks , but that has shit to do with the moms poor judgement . There are plenty of days in my house with two kids with several health issues, none of them curable , just manageable I wanna check out . But i dont. if anything , this is one more reason NOT to get shitfaced and make poor decisions, my kids need me.

I think 3 years in prison is adequate. It does not seem so long, I know to us. But for the person in there, it does seem a very long time to be away from your life.
------------------------------------
I know what you mean...and so do all the other victims out there that are going to be away from their life for a very long time.
Jesusfuckingchrist.
Daniee, honestly I think if you drive drunk you should lose your license for at least a year. If you drive drunk and KILL someone (sorry, it's not manslaughter imo. It's not like you tripped and fell and boom someone is dead) you should lose it for life.
This woman would still be alive if idiothead hadn't decided 'I can drive. I'm fine'.
So I agree with you on her losing the license, just not the length of time :)
I totally don't remember this ho. O.o
Body language shows more shock than remorse. Her mother's remark that she's "happy the granchildren will have their mother back soon' is competely tone deaf. It's as though what went down didn't really register. Mother and grandmother like that ain't much use to those kids. Sorry for the family.
How hard is it to understand.
If you drink, don't drive. If you drive, don't drink.
I really think that she should not be able to have a driver's license for at least 11 years. (but I know it does not work that way).
I think 3 years in prison is adequate. It does not seem so long, I know to us. But for the person in there, it does seem a very long time to be away from your life. She probably isn't a risk to reoffend/i.e. she's rational and realizes her crime cost an innocent life. If she were a risk to reoffend, I'm sure it would have been longer.
3 years is BULLSHIT.
My boyfriend was 8 years old when he and his siblings were hit in their car by a drunk driver. His 4 year old little brother was killed. Everyone else walked away. The guy only got 10 years. He killed a child but because he "didn't mean to kill anyone" while being drunk as a skunk, he only got 10.
Motherfucking pieces of shit.
Crohn's is a chronic, incurable autoimmune disease. I suffer from it and let me tell you, it sucks!! I feel sorry for the victim's family and her daughter...but certainly not for her.
Loved her in Cry-Baby but hated her in Melrose Place and was so pleased when her wonk-eye was written out half-way into the first season. Ironic that her character left the show because she'd been cast in hit soap in New York, right before Melrose as a show actually took off when Jo Reynolds and Amanda Woodward were added to the cast.
But back to reality; FUCK THIS BITCH.
rendered speechless. Why on earth is there not a federal minimum for deaths from DUI? It should be second degree murder.

Those videos are heart breaking. May that lady RIP and hope her family can find peace somehow and someway.
Bitch should get 20 years in Jail, daughter would probably end up being better off without her killer mother. Prosecution should appeal the sentence. Too lenient.
There was a lady here who was drunk and she was refused entrance to a bar, when the bouncer saw her jump in her car and drive away he called the police. The cops found her speeding down the highway and when they put on her lights, she panicked and crashed into a ditch, got thrown from the vehicle and her arm got dismembered. Anyways she survived and tried to sue the police and then the bar. She lost both cases. She is still very bitter about it and blames everyone else but herself. When you decide to drive drunk and bad shit comes from it, it is no one's fault but your own. Period.
Crohn's is indeed a serious disease and it sucks her kid has it. That doesn't make this woman's responsibility for causing the death of another any less important. I hate like hell when people use the disease of their child as a reason for things to go lighter on them. I have two children with problems, and deal with it every fucking day, and don't go out and get shitfaced and then drive.
Urgh!
Yeah, Crohn's and colitis can be no joke (even if the afflicted is a clown).
I had no idea Chron's was that serious. Sorry:(
