The IRS Seized All Of Lindsay Lohan's Bank Accounts
"DENIED, BITCH!" is what the cash machine will scream at White Oprah today when she tries to use a skimmed copy of Lindsay Lohan's ATM card. Lindsay Lohan apparently owes the IRS more than $233,000 for not paying taxes in 2009 and 2010, and even though Charlie Sheen tried to save her by giving her $100,000, it wasn't enough. The IRS seized all of her bank accounts, which means that every member of the Lohan family will be at the soup kitchen asking where the open bar is.
TMZ, of course, says that the IRS tried to work with LiLo, but they're stick of waiting around for her to pay up and she hasn't even paid her 2011 taxes, so they froze her accounts to try to get paid. One source says that LiLo is freaking out about how her financial situation is rushing down a gutter river headed straight for a storm drain. LiLo is doing whatever she can to pay off her debt with the IRS.
That means we can expect the following headlines from TMZ:

The IRS is so shameless. They're obviously using Lindsay Lohan to get their 15 minutes of fame. They're going to hire Gloria Allred, give interviews to The Insider and start tweeting about how she called them a racial slur. They obviously set LiLo up. They're nothing but publicity whores.
It's a good thing that like every good mess, LiLo keeps all her money in the toilet tank.

Yes but the accountants have to be paid for their services or they quit.
I could imagine crazy Charlie Sheen giving her $100k to pay down her back taxes. But I can't believe the story that he tried to treat it as a charitable deduction. There's no LL charitable foundation or nuttin. Simply giving money away is just a gift, not a charitable contribution.

Just imagine something you wouldn't be proud of would happen to you and people would film and upload it and pat themselves on the shoulder - and maybe making a buck or two with it - I have no idea how this works, mainly because I have adblock, I guess.

Exactly. The video has been viewed on youtube hundreds of thousands of times. One of them (it's been uploaded a bunch of times) has been viewed almost 700,00 times. Youtube typically pays 1/3 cents to 1 cent per view. Some of these posters can make a very significant income off their videos.
For example, a video with 1,000,000 views x .0033 = $3300.
And the homeless veteran gets unwanted publicity and fuck-all. Yet, he's the greedy one?
Edited to add that the video with nearly 700,000 views was uploaded by the Associated Press, so why should the AP make money off of him? Why are they entitled and he's not?

The IRS is lazy. They only go after easy stuff like bank accounts, real estate, and wages. Since Lindsay doesn't have the last two... What the IRS should do is lien up the production companies that are ready to pay her (if any, right?).
Other good collection methods are to slap a lien on a landlord who is holding a renter's security deposit or on a law firm or PR firm (like Shawn Holley or Rogers & Cowan) who are holding $$ in trust. Doing that usually results either in contrite begging or threats of bodily harm.
I won't say all that I really would like to about the IRS. Nevertheless, it's apparent that LILO lived outside of her means and no longer has the money to repay what she owes. Exactly where is she supposed to get the money from now?
Wouldn't it be in the IRS's best interest to work out something with her so she can repay what she owes within a reasonable timeframe? What exactly do they hope to gain by taking away the little money she has now? Should she live in the streets and eat grass so that they can have their "cut"?
I've seen regular, non-rich folks stressed out and driven over the edge by the IRS. Like I said, since I don't want them knocking on my door, I'll stop short of saying way I really think of them.

I asked the same question. One thing I leaned from a small business owner--if you aren't receiving a regular paycheck with the taxes taken out, you need to make quarterly estimated tax payments. That involves a lot of money and its pretty easy to let it slide and suddenly find you spent all your money on other things and have to borrow money to pay the taxes--with tons of penalties for not doing your quarterlies.
Also, from what I recall, before the IRS can seize, there are multiple warnings delivered over statutorily determined periods of time--so one has to ignore all that, and waive all rights to challenge the assessement--before the final seizure is laid on. Hence her life is unmanagable.

Many homeless people are homeless due to psychological problems that prevent them from being responsible, or simply being too beligerant and defiant to function in a cooperative world. If he wasn't anti-social he may well be living comfortably in a group home like so many mentally ill adults do.

I think he may have a case against someone for his image being used for publicity purposes without him signing a model release--if he didn't sign one. And the story indicates that homelessness and poverty can be the result of complex circumstances.

Ok I was being over dramatic
Lindsay doesn't want to work. She is lazy and thinks that she is doing everyone a favor just by being Lindsay Lohan. The fact that Lifetime (as crappy as they may be) took a chance with her and jumped through hoops to get her insured should have been a HUGE deal to her. It shouldn't have mattered that it was Lifetime. And if even the script did suck? She should have taken the job seriously and knocked it out of the fucking park, instead she gave a sloppy, pathetic performance and broke the contract she had with Lifetime because she just doesn't give a fuck. All eyes were on her and she blew it once again.
The IRS thing probably doesn't bother her too much right now, because she gets paid in cash, but the IRS doesn't care who she is. they will get her if she doesn't pay up.
I hate to be the party pooper BUT... All it takes is for SOMEONE,ANYONE to pay her tax bill. And boom she's off the books. And that is exactly what will happen. I don't know who or when but her taxes will get paid or she will work out a payment plan. As much as I hate to say it... This too will blow over. She always finds a way. That's her real talent.

I haven't had time to scroll through the comments so sorry if this was already mentioned: Robert Downey had the support & love of fellow actors when he was battling his drug addiction and had gone right off the rails from about 1996 - 2001. He had been charged with possesion of drugs & weapons. He was uninsurable but Mel Gibson who had worked with him in the past and believed in him took a big risk and gave him a role in the movie, The Singing Detective. The movie & RDJ's performance garnered critical acclaim & rescued RDJ's career. He got clean and reestablished himself as an Alister.
As Redmond said, there is NO way now that anyone in Hollywood is going to take that kind of risk with Lilo or be that generous to her (unless she does secks with them and even then, they'll flick a fiver at her, not sign her to a contract) because she has burned all her bridges and has not inspired the kind of loyalty and love that RDJ had. She's also not that talented.
