Ok if a 14 year old child is dressing too sexy, whose fault is that? If a 14 year old is dating a 17 year old boy and you allow that to go on, whose fault is that? How are people even blaming a 14 year old kid for anything in this situation? Even if all that stuff was true, it's still no excuse to beat someone. It always makes me sad when a family member denies the abuse. You're not there 24/7, you don't know what goes on behind closed doors. Even the happiest people can hide the scariest shit. If they thought it was serious enough to take her from the home, he should be taking it serious enough to support her right now. She's rich, she's famous, but she's STILL a child.

I'm inclined to believe Ariel, partly because her mother seems to have a reputation as a domineering and aggressive child actor manager, and because of the older sister's experience in foster care.

I got up and smoked a ciggie, away from them but within sight. Not once did that woman attempt to make her daughter feel better. However, I see so much stuff that surprises me. I was in a restaurant in DC one night, and I could not believe my eyes. It was a NICE restaurant, and it was 10pm in the evening. This young boy, like six or seven years old, was running amok among all the tables in the restaurant. His parents did not say or do anything for a solid hour. He almost ran into a waiter. The waiter had to truly balance himself in order not to spill food on the patron next to him.

I was NEVER allowed to do that kind of crap when I was a kid. My parents would have kicked my butt!

It happens. My mum was 18 when she had me and 45 when she had my 3rd sister. Obviously a completely unplanned pregnancy.

Thats a 27 year age difference and yeah i'm constantly explaining she's not mine but my sister when i take her anywhere lol

Last month, a judge looked into the abuse allegations and decided they were serious enough to temporarily take custody of Ariel away from her mom Crystal Workman and give it to her 34-year-old sister Shanelle Workman

I wouldn't jump so fast on the hate Crystal bus yet. Doesn't matter how much or how little money you have or what your status is. Statistically speaking, 14-15 year old girls are infamous for pulling this crap because they think they are adults now. Her sister may have pulled the same crap because she was also, coincidentally, 14.

If preventing a 14 year old from having sex with her boyfriend, throwing out her cigarettes and prohibiting alcohol and commiserating with other teens who imbibe is considered "abuse" then yeah, color her guilty.

There are two sides, and unless you have had a teen who you had to take the punches for protecting, then don't comment.

I have a 26 year old who apologizes to this day, and thanks me for having the guts to stand my ground. She survived as a successful adult, not so for her 'friends' though.

People give us funny looks when we go out in public - you can see them trying to do the math to see who is the parent, child and/or grandchild of whom.

You know I had a classmate pass about a year ago, dude truly had a light inside him. I still run into his mother who was the foulest mouthed woman I had ever met at that time. She scared me but he was used to it and he grew up to be an ob-gyn.

To me that's an example of someone growing up with a good balance of nurturing care. I only saw little parts of my classmate's life at home just like only seeing one moment between that mom and her girl.

At least (in her defense) she wasn't cussing at the kid or being rough with her and once we got on the bus the little girl was cool. It's just the mom was all "meh" to her shivering and crying while cussing somebody out on the phone.

I'm getting too old, can't ignore the youngin's ways like I used to. I hate to say it but you used to be able to figure out where people came from by their bad behavior in public (at least you thought you could.)

Now it's like everywhere you go.

‘targeted‘ child of abuse. My mother targeted me with physical and great emotional abuse till I left home. She had four, but only abused me. When the others got in trouble, I got the beating. Apparantly I ruined her life by being born. My siblings used to blame me until they were old enough and not too scared to see otherwise.
I wish siblings would not come out and declare that their parent is not abusive to a victim. It is done behind closed doors and a lot of manipulation surrounds it. They dont even know what is actually happening.

same here, I had a 5yr, 3 yr, newborn, so it was diapers for what seemed like forever, and every stage just keep repeating. Learning to read, sports, all of that felt like it was on a loop. College for 3 has turned out to be a financial kick in the ass too.
But, like you said, when the stage was over, it was OVER forever.

As far as this girl, I'm inclined to believe what the sisters are saying. Maybe the son feels like "it wasnt so bad" because she favored the boy. Ive seen that happen too.

how sad. from experience (not my own parents, but in laws) abusive parents tend to create a divisiveness among their relationships, notably their children. my husband's mother has narcissistic personality disorder and was extraordinarily abuse (mentally, emotionally, and i suspect, physically-but more by ignoring them when they were sick). anyway, i'd be willing to believe the elder sister and throw less credit to the brother. in my husband's family, he joined the marine corps in college and never looked back-his sister became a nun. at twenty. sad. i hope ariel's sister is able to support her and provide the love that she probably wasn't receiving from her own mother. i can hear these stories a million times, even personal stories, and i still have trouble wrapping my head around parents that become abusive.

Is it any wonder these kids grow up to be messed up adult actors (Lohan, Bynes, those Corey dudes, Britney and many more). Their parents didn't give 2 shits about them, just as long as the money kept rolling in. It's quite sick what some of them will consent to if it means their kid gets the part.
I like Modern Family but this has taken the shine off.
