Open Post: Hosted By The Trailer For Hitchcock
To answer the question in your head, yes, I giggled when I wrote the word "cock" in Hitchcock. So here's the trailer for that movie about the making of Psycho that stars Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock and Helen Mirren as his wife Alma Reville. I hope I'm still around in 50 years, because I want to see a movie about the making of this movie, and I really want to see the scene where Anthony Hopkins rips the prosthetics off of his face and starts chewing on the rubber, because he can longer take trying to act opposite a mumbling piece of bleached driftwood named ScarJo.

I agree 100% with the poster below:

"Do they have to always go for the obvious star powered big names?
Anthony Hopkins not only is tired and has lost it with a series of horrible self parodic performances such as Fracture with Ryan Gosling but is clearly all wrong for the part with that distracting Uncle Fester make-up job.
It should have went to the lesser known but just as gifted Timothy Spall, who is more correct physically. Just like Toby Jones was better suited to Capote and did a great job (though admittedly no arguing with Philip Seymour Hoffman).
Least Toni Collette is in this, but it all feels a bit My Week With Marilyn".
"My Week with Marilyn" stunk. While Michelle Williams is a talented actress, she was horrible in this mess. She wasn't even close to embodying Marilyn at all.

Sorry 68Special but what you are seeing is most probably an open space left for personalized ads that are determined from your browsing history through some sort of tracking cookies. Those in favor of socialized medicine and an internet surfing habit of pro Obama sites probably see a pro Obamacare ad. It is very obvious that Michael is a liberal but I don't think he would actually carry political ads as there are quite a few conservatives who enjoy Dlisted and quite a few liberals who would be apoplectic if they saw what you just did.
Speaking of politics (since this is an open post), do you know anything about that film that fictitiously got our Libyan Ambassador murdered? What I had been hearing from the Administration is that it is heinous and disgusting and evil. Then I heard that the film portrayed The Prophet Mohammad as gay (and not in a pornographic way. The LIBERAL powers that be at Google refused to remove it from YouTube after all). Is that why it is considered so horrible? Liberals need to wake up and see the (very very) bad people running our country (when those people are not too busy campaigning in Las Vegas and going on The View, that is) and not just believe the divisive shit that spews out of these very bad people's mouths. Clint Eastwood is pro gay. Obama is not. He wants the gay vote and he wants division because a divided country benefits his purposes. That's it.
Btw, the filmmaker was arrested for violating his parole. What was the violation you may ask? Wrongfully accessing the internet. In other words, for exercising his 1st amendment right by making that film (and he wasn't an ex con for downloading child porn or anything like that. He had been in trouble for writing bad checks).

I like Hitch! We have the same birthday. My fave was Rear Window though.
RandéS lol, I know. Was Gervasi's MFA thesis on Hitch by any chance? HA! I'd watch this on TV for the actors but I think the recreations of the classic scenes could be painful.

Yup. (I still won't go. :))
RandéS, I think it might be. It's full of good actors. Don't know the director but how much could go wrong - a lot - Mirren and Hopkins practically direct themselves, don't they? ;)

Looks pretty good--certainly better than a lot of the crap that passes for a feature film these days.
I just care a whole lot less for the creator than whatever he or she creates.
ScarJo can look beautiful, but she often looks like she's not styled for her body shape. I also hate when she wears her hair up. Something about her personality is a turn off.
HOLY SMOKES! There is a glimmer of hope here on the D. I am seeing a National Republican Senatorial banner ad against Obamacare.
and on that note: MORE BAD NEWS FOR OBAMA;
STEVE WYNN: I've created about 250,000 direct and indirect jobs according to the state of Nevada's measurement. If the number is 250,000, that's exactly 250,000 more than this president, who I'll be damned if I want to have him lecture me about small business and jobs. I'm a job creator. Guys like me are job creators and we don't like having a bulls-eye painted on our back.
The president is trying to put himself between me and my employees. By class warfare, by deprecating and calling a group that makes money 'billionaires and millionaires who don't pay their share.' I gave 120% of my salary and bonus away last year to charities, as I do most years. I can't stand the idea of being demagogue, that is put down by a president who has never created any jobs and who doesn't even understand how the economy works.
Um. Did I just run everyone off?
Ok. Sorry, goodnight.
Whamo, that is a good idea, thank you!
I really really want to hit the museums and I believe his great grandparents names are at Ellis Island. Also I'd like to visit the WTC memorials. I was 18 on 9/11 and I can recall the radio broadcast I was listening to so clearly (Bob and Sherri). Sounds dumb maybe but I feel like I owe it to those people who perished to pay my respects.

Pushy and Whamo, I know!! We can only stay a few nights and I'm like OH MAN there is so much to see and do!!!! Lol.

When I go to a new city I try and go online and get some info and history on the places I'll be going to. I find it gives you a little more appreciation and you tend to see things a little different if you have some good background to work with.
Yo, mike , I saw that, I tried to watch it earlier but it took forever to load, gotta try again later. Time for Wednesdays to be a bit more interesting , but if this season is a damn roller coaster like the first one, I might drop out halfway through .
pushy -- hey, hon!
Louise -- I do think Michelle Williams would have been a way better choice.
Hey, has anyone seen Lucifer the past few days? Is she on holiday or am I just missing her?
My daughter lives in the UWS and we visit every summer for a week. The people are helpful and friendly, the restaurants and variety of food is excellent and the cultural attractions are top notch. When you can stand a foot back and admire Van Gogh's "Starry Night" or one of Monet's giant Waterlily paintings you are in heaven. To me the hardest adjustment was the sheer number of bodies, the garbage bags that pile up on the streets and the lack of fresh air and wildlife. One time, we had a fly in the bathroom and i screamed for my husband to come in and look at it cause it was the first insect we had seen!
Awww Pushy, thank you:). She really is great and I feel safe knowing she's around if that makes sense...her husband passed about a year ago and her children are scattered between states. Our little neighborhood is only about ten houses in a loop so we try to take care of one another:)
Goodnight!
*agree, I love OG as well! I crack up every time MK writes about it lol.

LaChay that is awesome!! I really hope we make it.
You guys I have the greatest neighbor. She is 71 but very active and youthful. She always brings me huge freezer bags of homemade cookies. A few days ago she brought over the sweetest thank you note and a gift card to Olive Garden (don't judge) just because we did some neighborly stuff for her. Tonight she brought over a huge delicious homemade STILL WARM apple pie. She is the best lol.
Thank you for the "pick me up" MT. What a beautiful neighbor and you sound like a good neighbor as well.
Night.
ps: I like Olive Garden:) their ravioli's stuffed with mushrooms in a cream sauce and that salad. Works.:)
Ohhhh, Christmas decorations !! That's one thing I hate about TX , it's hard to get into Christmas mood at 85 degrees . Germany at christmas is beautiful, everyone decorates the trees in their yard with lights, that halfway covered by snow... Beautiful. Ha, can you tell I am drunk and melancholic ?
Until I saw this trailer, I had no idea Scarlett Johannson had breasts.

I think I'm going to NYC the week before Christmas...I've never been, I'm excited:)
You will love it, especially around Christmas.
The giant Christmas decorations alone are worth the visit. and Rockefeller Center. How exciting for you!

Man I'm jealous, I've never been either MT. There is just so much going on I'd want to spend months hanging out!
UBF! Hey girl Haay! Lol how's the cute lil nose??
We are still in the very early stages of planning so there's a chance it may not happen lol.
MTurt - I love NYC!! I've been once, and I loved it. I rented an apartment for a few nights, walked around a lot, and pretended I was a real New Yorker.
Even rode the subway all the way to Washington Heights. Loved it all.
Ya mefuni....there is a quality about Judi that is so assured, intelligent, sassy and feisty that I would imagine men just go crazy over her and women admire her. What a role model.

Helen Mirren and Judi Dench are the women I aspire to be someday. They are so confident in their skin, no matter what age, I find that so encouraging.
Me too!!!!! they are both older than me and I hope I age like them. Though, I'd take Helen's body now:)
Muddy, I'm jellis!! I've never been either . Shit , I ve never been anywhere aside from Tx and upstate NY.
Whamo, I bought Van Morrison's new CD while visiting the chicklet. It is really good IMO
Forgot it there so now I have to go get myself another one. She liked it as well. Very easy listening.

They are pretty kickass.
Hopkins can do no wrong for me, so I wanna watch this, although ScarJo is not the one. I have absolutely no idea why she seems so swarmy to me, but she does.
Janet Leigh had a certain coldness to her, nowhere near swarmy. uuugh.

Biel has a hot body but her face does nothing for me. Something about her nose/mouth situation is unappealing.
Hopkins as Hitchcock..... works for me. He has the acting chops go take on such an enigmatic character.

I'm with all the way Weezy, I've always thought Scarjo was cutie, I've never understood the hate for and Jennifer Beil either. I think Biel is gorgeous and she keeps herself in wicked shape.
JMO any way :)
Yeah, thanks for the advice, BSF. I think I'm gonna wait until this chick gets his papers served to him, and then I'll switch. He's days away from being served and then there is a waiting period, I don't want to switch now because I want the goddam waiting period to begin. God it's so weird to fucking hate someone so much that you used to love.
Anyhoo...Woody Allen. I haven't like anything he's made since Sleeper. That movie was the shit. ScarJo, blah. She's hot but boring as fuck. I hate her "acting"
Submitted by Twat Muffin on Wed, 10/10/2012 - 6:38pm
Hi Twatty!!!!
Re: ScarJo. I think I don't like her because she was a Woody Allen muse. and I cannot stand him. That's really narrow I know. I think ScarJo was OK in that 1st movie (i forget the name) with Bill Murray but since then blah.
and she acted beyond the fool with Sean Penn.
Good point to sillykat IMO
Have a Good night
Twatty- I think she's gorgeous. It's shocking to me that she gets ripped on so much for being ugly. She's dismal as an actress and probably a pretentious pain in the ass, but I do think she's gorgeous.
I agree with cocoebert that Michelle Williams would have been a much better choice to play Janet Leigh.
@BSF:
THANKS. I do appreciate what you are saying. I also agree with you too - he does care much more about his position, and he has much better management. It's a combo of luck and hard work. I work hard, but I have been placed in some bad situations. You are right - I will not blame him. I love him way too much to do that. I am actually going to have a party for him or some other fun thing, just so he can understand how proud I am.
My MAJOR dream is to go to grad school. I am studying for the GMAT (been studying for six months...it suuuuckkks). I guess I am just feeling a little sorry for myself. I will have to just kick myself in the pants (well, if it's possible. Thanks...glad to know someone else has been there.
@GG:
Sorry to hear! Me too. I made the mistake of going to lunch with a colleague - I ordered sweet and sour chicken. BLECH!

I don't do Facebook either. I just wish I was more techno than I am to utilize a computer more efficiently and also to download music. It's not my age either. I know lots of people my age or older that are computer wizzards. I'm just techno retarded:(
Anyhow, what's your thoughts on Woody Allen and his actors? I find myself not watching actors that have been in his movies because I'm so disgusted about his past. I do feel a bit bad about it though--it is narrow minded, which I try very hard not to be. But him, yeah, I'm narrow. ScarJo is one of them.

Does anyone just feel totally crappy today? I know I do. Ugggghhhh....
Tell me if any of you have this interesting problem. My boyfriend is doing very well at work - I actually helped him get in to a program we have here. I hate this place with a passion, and have had nothing but horrendous bosses. Granted, I eventually got along with all of them (including the wicked witch that is my very former boss). However, I feel very lowly that I am not doing as well.
I feel ashamed to be jealous of him - that is why I helped him get in to the program. Has anyone had this issue?
________________________________________________________
Yes. My soon to be ex and I worked together many moons ago. We were co-workers but he was promoted to a high profile job that I wanted. I didn't even get an interview because the higher ups hand picked him. I was salty for a hot minute and blamed the old boy network and slipped into tragic mulatto (lol) mode. But after a while I realized he was busting his ass and deserved the promotion. I was getting it done myself, but I wasn't working as hard as him. But I got over myself and started busting my ass too. Eventually, I got promoted a couple of times and used the new fancy title to get a much better paying job at another company.
My advice, if you feel underappreciated, just get working hard and keep an eye out for other opportunities. Also look into certifications you can acquire without pouring a huge amount of time and money into it (project management, six sigma, toastmasters, etc). Those really do make your resume look better and you do learn a fe useful things. You'll get your break.
If you have a good relationship, focus on being proud that your man is doing the damn thing and bringing home the bacon! Don't let your mind dwell on envy. Think of yourselves as a team. His success is your success.

Ditto!
i need some advice from your bitches. I'm getting divorced and my manipulative, emotionally abusive ex is being a total prick (imagine that!). So I lawyered up, and right now he and the lawyer are communicating. But the lawyer is this kind of nicey, mellow person, and I feel like I need some one a little more aggressive...I hired her because I knew he would be pissed that I had a lawyer so I wanted someone a little nicer...at the time.
He hasn't signed the papers yet, first he wanted them translated into Spanish (his native language), then he was gonna go in yesterday to sign but never showed.
Should I switch lawyers? I'm tired of him fucking with me
__________________________________________________________
Absolutely, yes! Get a shark. I'm getting divorced too and my lawyer is a very "Bitch don't try it!" kinda chick. She gets her hands dirty so I don't have to. I haven't made any crazy demands and neither has the spouse, but I feel better knowing she can handle it if he does. She's also handling my...dunno what to call him...significant other's (?) divorce. There's a lot more money and property on the table there, but she's handling that aggressively. But anyway, yes, get a new lawyer!! Good luck.
