As much as i don't care for Catholicism personally, I have to respect nuns. Especially modern-day nuns. They take the humble dirty jobs and do them. They have become feminist icons, which is puzzling yet fitting.

There are a few nuns at my kids' school. Two wear the old-school habits. My daughter's teacher wears regular old lady clothes. She is NOT THE ONE.

She's like a prize fighter comedienne. She'll refer to the kids' "ugly mugs" and is un-PC-ly irreverent. But my eyes get misty when I see her with the kids because she so obviously loves them. She loves the spunky little troublemakers (like my Middle) especially much. And she is dead serious about them learning to love reading.
