Open Post: Hosted By Jon Hamm And Yes, He's Happy To See You
I'd like to think that as Jon Hamm strolled with Jennifer Westfeldt in NYC yesterday, someone stopped him and thanked him for showing us that God does wonderful, wonderful, wonderful things by not putting any underwear on that morning. Then I'd like to think Jon raised his eyebrow and said that he's wearing two pairs of briefs and one pair of boxers and it still can't hide all the love he's got to give. SWOOOON!
You know, I could sit here and write four haikus, six poems, a 5-part series and an essay on the Hickory Farms basket in Jon Hamm's pants, but instead I'll just let you grab the Crisco, sit back and enjoy the Hamm Log.* And these pictures sent from the heavens need a theme song. loops, all of those you mentioned I've seen, I even watched In Bruges for the third time. I think the gay guy with Colin Farrell made a movie I saw recently with Don Cheadle about an Irish cop and an FBI agent that was very good. Another one I saw was about a mercenary who came home and got involved with a terrorist group and a drug gang taking over his neighborhood. Another features Thandie Newton (ohhhh) and is about a couple stranded on an island when a plague breaks out. Loved Harry Brown too.
Now girls, you wanna talk about packin'? Simon Pegg. He's got the look and dates Rachel Adams. Funny only goes so far.

Global village indeed.
One of my best friends was begging me to watch it for a long time and I couldn't get into the pilot either. Due to some network clusterfuck, a few of the episodes were aired out of order. My first sitting was awful to be honest. But watch two or three eps in a row, it'll grow on you, promise.
Just like Breaking Bad, you need to watch at least three episodes in a row to get into it's my favourite show and I can objectively say, it's the best show on TV.

Pretty sure most people have heard of Shaun of the Dead, which is pretty great. I didn't like Hot Fuzz the first time I watched it, but when I re-watched it, it was great too.
You're right, that movie was pretty mainstream, but I had to include it because I love it so. Though, where I'm from, Singapore, most people haven't heard of/watched it.

the humour is darker in british comedy
I love black humour ( and I don't mean Tyler Perry films) The original Death at a Funeral was so good, the Hollywood remake was travesty.
My company just hired a whole bunch of editors from the UK and they're all as polite as can be until they let loose some wicked little quips. Love it.
but now they are riding on the CGI superhero films. every year some new comic book comes alive.
Can't say much, I totally look forward to every superhero film. I find they tend to be better executed than your average Hollywood movie. I loved the Avengers, and was thrilled that it made beaucoup bucks, mostly so that the fat cat studio execs would give Joss Whedon more creative license in his future TV projects.
RIP Firefly.

the humour is darker in british comedy, and i find hollywood comedy means farting, dick jokes, a character swearing alot or talking about banging somebody's wife.
i liked 4 weddings and a funeral and the monty python series, withnail and i.
and british action/films are good too, in bruges, lock stock 2 smoking barrels, rocknrolla, snatch, harry brown, get carter. which were made on $3-$5 million budgets. they dont always rely on cars blowing up, freeway carnage, helicopter smashes to captivate the audience. if hollywood did it, it would be $500 million.
the horror film 28 days later, shaun of the dead was good too.
and the lighter fluffy movies like exotic marigold, love actually, about a boy, billy elliot.
french and italian cinema is also interesting.
there are good hollywood films too, but i just think those huge budgets like $100-300million they would make better films and not big ass flops, like that john carter movie.

I loved Attack the Block. Have you seen Kinky Boots? Not very recent, but it's another good British film. I find that, in comparison, Hollywood has only one formula that they stick to. Otherwise, Middle America shits its pants

I don't think I have seen Kinky Boots. ITA about Hollywood, I'd rather watch the small films than big blockbusters. I'd noticed a few years ago that british films were getting very good, esp. the ones centered around working class interests, very gritty. Then Jason Statham started getting hot, his new movie Safe is a good action flick.
@ vidz, I've seen a so many movies I don't remember the titles, I have to really read the reviews to see if I've watched it before. I do remember Shaun of the Dead, really funny as hell.
