The state where I live has no problem with making women attend anger management classes, and I just know from reading the paper and watching the news that women are basically equal to men in the arrests for domestic incidents.

I worked with a girl years ago who attacked her boyfrien, went to jail, and was ordered to a year of anger management AND domestic violence classes. She said half her classes were filled with women.

Again, I agree. I don't believe a man should put his hands on a women. However, I don't think that opens the door for a woman to put her hands on a man simply because he can't hit back. I think I did read somewhere that she hit him too. From memory I think a 'source' said that their relationship was, at times, violent. I am in NO WAY condoning what he did. And I will never think it's ok for a man to beat a woman.

I am female and I have had two male friends tell me of women (one wife, one girlfriend) hitting them in an argument. Both men said they held the women's hands/wrists to deflect the blows. Then of course they eventually walked away. I don't think this scenario is ok either. No one should hit anyone else. But I'm glad both men chose to walk away.

One of my ex's told me he was at a party & a woman who didn't like him walked over and smashed a bottle over his head. She was best friends with his ex. He told me that he had no hesitation in turning around and repeatedly punching her. He said he just laid into her. Not one person at the party tried to stop him. I was shocked and horrified. Needless to say I didn't stay with him very long. I accidentally scratched him once, when he was holding me down & tickling me. I begged him to stop but he wouldn't. I swear I scratched him from reflex. I never even realised I had done it. He raised his fist to me like he was going to punch me. I'll never forget it. I've never had a man hit me, and even a raised fist scared me.

@ bambam - ITA. I think it's one of those double standards that unfortunately may not go away. They suck, but we are all victims of a double standard in some way. Sorry about the hangover. I know what you mean, I'm just saying both sexes need to be taught. I had to take an anger management course, had never been in trouble, had lost my mind for about a minute and was threatened with a year in jail.

In class it was about personal responsibility, no ifs ands or buts. They broke down our defenses, drilled it into our heads until we got it. When the guys used their new skills at home a few of them came back with unsuccessful reports.

The instructors still thought we didn't get it but what they didn't realize is we did get it, our women were just used to behaving the same way that resulted in us being arrested in the first place.

Eventually two classes were delayed because three women had to come with their men to discuss their relationships. The instructors realized and admitted that maybe women could use anger management lessons too. Unfortunately with the court system being the way it is the focus was solely (and deservedly in most cases) on the man.

I know you understand but that's what I notice about women, "But he was bigger and stronger..." Makes no sense to me, does that mean our feelings can't be hurt? I had this same discussion with a woman here when this first happened, she said pretty much the same thing, "He's got muscles!"

Shaquille ONeal used to say other players got away with fouling him because he was so big and strong, referees wouldn't make calls because it didn't appear to stop him but he would get banged up like a regular sized player eventually.

Think about it, if a smaller guy got into it with a bigger guy, the small guy isn't going to swing on the big guy if he isn't armed, rolling with a crew or just crazy. Usually he'll just jaw at the guy, not let things go too far.

Why some women think they can lose their tempers, lash out at guys without consequence is just crazy. They should be held to the same standard yet what I see is women giving themselves too much of a pass on this issue.
