Antoine Dodson Finally Gives His Thoughts On The Chick-Fil-A Boycott

I've never heard of Chick Fil-A but I loooooovvvee Antoine and I happen to agree with him. All of this boycotting and total intolerance is just so tiresome. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Who cares? If the guy who owns Chick Fil-A doesn't like gays, what the fuck do I care? Frankly, I don't care if he loves every gay & lesbian on the planet. His and almost everyone else's opinion means nothing to me. I understand the whole "don't-give-them-money-so-they-can't-support-anti-gay-marriage" concept. But they are fighting a losing battle and Antoine makes an excellent point that the people who actually work in the restaurants need their jobs. Live and let live (except chickens, of course, because they get eaten and can't get married either) and eat wherever you please.

And, what most people simply aren't smart enough to understand is that these are franchises. The opinions of the owner have nothing to do with the local business on the corner. It's run by a small, local business owners who works like crazy and may or may not have opposite opinions. A "boycott" only hurts small business owners.

Who would've expected Antoine to be the voice of reason in all of this? They are nice there, and they can believe whatever the fuck they want. It's not really our business. People going crazy over this has made me want to go there more often, to be honest. I would if I weren't trying to cut down on fast food. The food is damn good and I'm not going to be told what to do by anyone, much less the thought police that demand uniform opinions from everyone. I do have to say, though, the one on his side of town is uber nice.

EvilShoe - nancy is the epitome of progressive arrogance. I don't know what news channel you watch, but you know how the Democrats have been calling for Romney to release his tax information for the last 12 years? (He only released one year's worth and won't release anymore because he knows it will be picked apart, taken out of context, and presented to the masses who never paid a dime of taxes in their lives as proof of his corrupt greed.) Well, someone had the wherewithal to ask her if she would release her tax information for public consumption. Now she is saying that this tax business with Romney is just a distraction and the Obama campaign should lay off, lol.

Chick-Fil-A is too expensive for me anyway. I went once a few years ago.

lol.. my gay sister who has been with her partner for like 27 years is the same way.. she's like i love the god damn nuggets and chicken soup they serve.. so i am feeling on toine.. plus i think it's cool he says they treat him nice. last time i was at chick fila some minimum wage earning mexican came by my table and asked if i needed anything, and then when i said no he said, "my pleasure". I was told by some hard core chick fila freaks that they do that in all their restaurants.. if i owned a chicken shilling shack my response would more than likely be.. fuck off then

Nopers - if a business's profits go toward terrorism then that business is shut down and the owners are put in jail. Of course people vote with their wallets. The problem is that they can only vote with the money THEY EARNED in those wallets that the government decides they can keep. Our tax dollars go toward supporting a lot of idiotic (or downright HORRENDOUS) nonsense and we have no choice in the matter. That's why I don't quite understand why so many on this thread are blaming "corporations". It's the government that makes the laws and regulations and decides where subsidies should go and what should be taxed more. Whenever government gets overly involved with specifically supporting and partnering or competing with anything in the scientific, economic or religious realms you're going to have freedom-snuffing problems. After all, we are talking about a bunch of mediocre bureaucrats with power.

Now, I'm not saying that well-known Christian organizations automatically equal anti-gay, but In and Out Burger has bible verses on their wrappers and cups. They are a privately-owned company so they can do what the hell they want. Forever 21 also. I think it would behoove everyone to look into who their favorite companies support, if any, before jumping on the boycott bandwagon.

He makes a good point about not wanting to hurt the people that work there. But, really folks, why not just eat the hell at home?

KFC chicken, which is probably not good for you (but neither are CFA's bland chewy fried sandwiches), at least tastes good and is tender and juicy. Also, their charities are mostly scholarships for disadvantaged young people. You can eat tasty fast food and avoid giving your money to organizations that try to block civil rights for American people.

crazyinjapan, I eat their grilled chicken, not fried. For healthy food, it's pretty good. Saladwise they use the best lettuce etc. If I wanted fried chicken I'd go to KFC for sure.

CFA food sucks absolute ass. It is truly wretched. I haven't eaten there for years (except one time two years ago when I was forced to--chewy bland cardboard--UGH) because their food tastes like shit and they are run by fundy fascists. KFC chicken actually tastes good. I have no idea why anybody would eat at GODawful CFA when they can get fried chicken that is tender, juicy, and tastes good.

What I took away from his video, is that MANY people have asked him about this, he has given it a LOT of thought and if he wants to have a Chick-fil-A sandwich, HE IS GONNA HAVE HIS CHICK-FIL-A SANDWICH... lol

When I read your post and it said those who look down on others as uneducated etc, all I could think of was Nancy Pelosi. When the BP spill happened, I will never forget the media asking her what she thought about the communities wanting to help and some collected hair at hair salons and if she would donate her hair and she said with the nastiness face, "That's SO primitive" I wanted to knock her damn smug look off her

I love this guy. When I first saw the video of the news bit that made him famous (I think on Urlesque) my main thought was of how I would love to have him as an older brother. Then I read comments under that same You Tube video on Huff Po and was surprised at the number of posts that made fun of him. Well, I'm not surprised by that kind of thing anymore because I have learned what class-conscious hypocrites many liberals can be - arrogant, self-righteous and angry towards those who have succeeded and arrogant, contemptuous and sneering towards those who 'appear' (in their eyes, of course) uneducated and don't know what is good for them so must be forced into what some control-freak lib thinks is good for them. That poor, helpless group of losers, referred to as inbred red-neck trailer trash even if they managed to pull themselves out of an inner-city ghetto, includes anyone who does not do what they are told to do.

Anyway, I can't tell how fond Michael is of Antoine or if this post is dripping in sarcastic contempt because I've never seen Dodson on here before, but I think this man is a great example of tolerance and real-world understanding. He sure isn't a self-absorbed take take take me me me my-issue-are-the-only-ones-that-matter progressive/liberal zombie. I hate boycotts and one of the boycotts I hate the most is that Million Mom shit that was organized against J. C. Pennys because they hired Ellen (who I also love but rarely get the chance to watch) as their spokesperson. In fact, I think Pennys just fired their CEO because their sales haven't improved (and may have actually gone down). Of course, boycotts often have the opposite effect for which they were intended, such as when the religious right organizes one against a movie or the commies organize one against Rush Limbaugh (who I also love. Love, love, love, love, love). So let that be a lesson: if you don't like the political or religious beliefs of some outspoken business owner then just don't shop at that business owners' place of business. Organizing for people to lose their ability to support themselves is the epitome of selfishness.

Chik-fil-A food is overrated. I like this guy, even though I think his head is up his ass a scoche.

I don't doubt that there are lots of people who love Chick-Fil-A. Good for them, but since there are so many other places to eat already, I wouldn't go out of my way to go eat there, especially knowing about their opposition to same-sex marriage and gay rights issues. For that alone, I'd spend my money elsewhere.

By giving business to an organization that supports something like that YOU are supporting that. Because that's your money that is being filtered into that cause. Americans seem to generally lack the understanding that we vote in this country with our money. WE are the ones keeping Walmart around by continuing to shop there. And anyone who continues to eat at Chik-fil-A will be support the anti-gay organizations because that money you give them for that sandwich is being handed over to causes like that.

It does not take a genius to figure that out. Frankly, I think this is the sort of excuse people make because they are too lazy to go somewhere else to eat.

Ugh. I just don't know. Chick Fil A is damn delicious but I'm not keen on their politics. So what I do now is continue to eat at CFA, but donate $$$ to LGBT advocacy groups every year.
