It's The 2012 Emmy Nominations (Alternate Title: My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding Was ROBBED!)
When the Emmy nominations are announced every year, I already know that my face is going to fall into a puddle of cold disappointment, but only because 80% of the TV stuff I put my eyeballs on is made of one hundred percent shit and the only way they'd get any nominations is if the Emmy hos decided to do things differently by nominating the absolute worst. But this year, there are a few noms I'm happy about. YAAASSS at Zoey from Nurse Jackie! YAAASSS at Jessica Lange from American Horror Story! YAAASSS at Veep! YAAASS at Uma Thurman from Smash! I'm only YAAASSSing at the last one, because Uma was so damn terrible that she was kind of brilliant. Give her all the Emmys.
The list of who I think should file a police report for getting ROBBED is way too long to list. I mean, where's a nomination for Madeline Stowe's portrayal of an ice cube with a stick permanently shoved up its ice cold ass on Revenge? Where is the nomination for who ever's responsible for the high budget production values on Ringer? Where the hell is RuPaul's nomination? May every wig fall off of its owner's head on Emmy night as punishment for telling Ru to sashay away.
But you know, it could be worst. At least the Emmys kept it Kuntrashian-free. That's always the bright side of any situation that a Kuntrashian hasn't shoved herself into. The nom list for the main categories is after the jump, but click here if you want to see the full list. JUMP!

Mad Men is still awesome though and I hope Steve Buscemi takes home an award.
Hendricks could win for best "supported actress"...she needs some serious over the shoulder boulder holders.
I used to like 30 Rock but this last season I couldn't watch it anymore...it actually became annoying.
Antiques Roadshow is OK but I like Pawn Shop better.
So House Hunters International wasn't nominated. Oh well.
Re: Dinklage. I love him too and he ought to be in the Lead category as everyone else has pointed out here. It really is not fair to the other noms in Supporting that they will have to go up against someone who gets far more air time than them. I was thinking Giancarlo Esposito as ‘Gus’ fr. Breaking Bad had it in the bag this year, but maybe not against Peter Dinglage. No fair.
François Arnaud as Cesare Borgia- the Borgias should have been nominated. He was awesome!!
Tina Fey is soooo overrated.
So I just finished watching the first episode of Downton Abbey. Wow. It really is good. Fine acting. It reminds me of The Remains of the Day, which is a heartbreakingly beautiful movie if you haven't seen it.
i think both Bill Hader and Kristen Wigg should win for best supporting actors.
However, SNL was fine this season. nothing extraordinary.
Not one nomination for The Killing?
Sofia Vergara? Really? Who did she blow to get the nomination?
As long as they don't give anything to Sofia Vergara. Her character is so GD annoying on Modern Family, which is a pretty funny show otherwise.

Hatfield and McCoys was good. I had to turn on the subtitles though because it was hard to understand sometimes and I am from the South! The guy that played Johnse was HOOOOOOOOT.

"Honestly, is Mad Men that fuckin' good?"
The answer to that question is a big old "no". I loved the first couple of seasons, but it is seriously the least nuanced show on TV (despite being lauded repeatedly for its nuance). You can see every heavy-handed bit of symbolism a mile away. It's outrageous that it gets as much praise as it does.
Yay for Don C. being recognized for "House of Lies". He is fantastic in that role.
Sarah Smile
Archer - The funniest animation series on TV.
Justified - The best writing & acting for a Drama on TV.
BOTH NOT NOMINATED. What the hell were the emmy voters smoking when they voted? I don't know what programs they watched this year, but it definitely wasn't either of those...

"Dammit, Pam, I've seen that, and now I can't unsee it. There's not enough liquor or therapy in the world to help me forget that..." - Archer
If Jon Hamm doesn't win this season, I'll just die. I think some people write him off as a pretty face, but he really is an outstanding actor. Don Draper is a deeply nuanced character.
WTF?! THE KILLING GOT NOTHING? ASSHOLES!

"Leave Alicia alone. All Japanese people look the same and China is a very big country".
I watch a lot of television, and I have to say that aside from the reality shows, I haven't watched any of the shows nominated. Reason: because their supposed greatness is being shoved down everyone's throat all the fucking time. Plus, none of the shows appeal to me at all. Also, I don't have HBO or Showtime. Am I missing out or something?

No idea how Dinklage is a supporting actor. But if it gives him another award I won't complain.
Can someone tell me why Breaking Bad is so good? I watched one show of it - they were in a basement - cleaning up a dead person? - and I just didn't see what the deal was.
________________________________________________
I also expected Peter Dinklage to submit himself as Best Actor and not Supporting, because he is arguably the biggest name on the show right now. Especially since the departure of a certain cast member from season 1 (no names, I don't want to spoil anything).
Breaking Bad is really good. I resisted for awhile because my brother hyped it to the point where I thought expectations couldn't match up with reality. However, it is extremely good. Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, and Giancarlo Esposito deserve their acting noms.
SO happy Louie was recognized.

i agree that this list needs a lot more Hugh Laurie and Robert Sean Leonard.
can't wait to hear Betty White's acceptance speech -- make Seacrest cry, Betty!!
there is so much "overrated" and "resting on its/his/her laurels" in the comedy show and actor/actress nominations it's ridiculous
Idris Elba. [i just needed to type his name, carry on nothing to see here]

When will the Emmys give Parks and Recreation their well-deserved love? 30 Rock, again?? Big Bang Theory? Parks and Recs and Louie are two of the best television shows, not just comedies, out there. I'm not watching this out of touch mess.

THIS
I am still a fan of 30 Rock/Tina Fey, but even I concede that there are far more deserving shows. Parks and Rec is a show that I adore because not only is it flat out hilarious, but it also makes you care about the characters. I honestly believe there is not a single poor character on that show. You can maybe knock Ann for being a little boring, but the writers stepped up their game with her character this season.
If Amy Poehler doesn't win for Best Actress, there is no justice in this world. She should win all the Emmys for the election episode alone.

I'm torn with Walking Dead. The first season was spectacular, but they have a real problem with their female characters, and this season really dragged. With the possible exceptions of Lori and Maggie, who at least have some redeeming qualities, they uniformly suck.
I hope they write in some zombie ass-kicking action for the ladies in season 3. Or at least give them some good dialogue.

I agree. the first half of the second season (aka "the search for Sophia") really dragged it down. I thought it recovered well in the second half of the season, but that first half probably soured Emmy voters. And yes, the female characters on the show are really garbage, except for Maggie. I might give a slight advantage to Andrea over Lori, since Andrea whines less and makes fewer stupid decisions.

Here's my take:
Parks and Rec, Community, Always Sunny, and Louis (as a show) got shafted. Maisie Williams who plays Arya Stark on Game of Thrones also got shafted. Walking Dead deserved a nom too.

Stan, what do Brentwood Jews have to do with Family Guy? Maybe it's because the show isn't funny that it wasn't nominated.

Agreed.
I love 30 Rock, but it jumped the shark last year. Zoey Deschanel couldn't make me laugh if I was hooked up to a nitrous oxide tank while my feel were being tickled.

So happy Glee got shafted for best comedy series. That show has been tanking for awhile.
I love 30 Rock, but it's seen its better days. Modern Family is also good, but not so great that it needed to take up four slots in the supporting actor race. Oh, and fuck these assholes who keep nominating Jon Cryer. Two and a Half Men is garbage. And The Big Bang Theory is just okay.
M.E. - It was really crazy and sad, when you consider how many people on both sides were killed in the feuding. Jonse was a scumbag...creeping with his cousin after he impregnated the McCoy girl...but damn, he was hot in the show!

Sans Fards - I WATCHED! And I liked it A LOT. It was pretty fucked up!

Thank god Breaking Bad racked them up, because that show is fantastic!
I just wish there was a way for both Giancarlo Esposito (Gus Fring) and Aaron Paul (Jesse) to win.
Larry David as Himself
Louis C.K. as Himself
Lena Dunham as a character she openly acknowledges is based on herself
Zooey Deschanel as the embodiment of quirk.
I'm seeing a pattern. Doesn't mean it's wrong, but I don't think they're really rewarding range here.
I hate that girls got 2 nominations, if only because every time I watch it and cringe... thinking that one of the characters does or says something that I've done/would do. Ugh... as a 20something in NYC it's definitely a representation of the worst of us, at our worst moments... hence the cringe factor...

I'm a huge It's Always Sunny fan (especially Danny Devito...that ho is hilarious), but I can see why it's not nominated. A lot of my friends don't like the show's sense of humor.
I'd love to see Julia L-D win for Veep. She is awesome! I'll have to start watching Southland. Just got into watching Downton Abbey, with the deliciously evil Maggie Smith. love it.
