:P i liked it for a couple of reasons besides the relaxation and helping with asthma, i got to perve at the local footballers lol
but swimming is awesome, it works your entire body, but doesnt have a big impact such as running, and all your muscles are used to stabilise you.
ive been swimming since i was about 13yo, so i have a V shape swimmer build :P which im always proud to show off lol

loopygorilla -- thanks for explaining some of that to me. I'm actually considering going for swimming lessons again. I really do love being in the water and even love the little bit of paddling that I do. When I was taking the lessons 10 years ago I found it really elongated my body. Thanks!

sorry to hear about that, but i think the right teacher will remove all your fears.
because they will teach you the right breathing technique.
swimming is basically like riding a bike, you just gotta co-ordinate the kicking, strokes and breathing and then it becomes second nature.
for sure when you start, get yourself the right size fins because fins actually help you hold the right posture and it will "mechanically" train your body to swim properly.
when i started, the teacher used to have his arm under me to help me float and i was soo nervous when he led me to the deep end cuz i thought id drown, but i had fins on, and he thought me to tread water.
and after that, we started doing 10 laps with fins and floating board, and then we did one arm stroke, one arm hold the board, and turning the head around after each stroke to breathe in and out.
ahh i wish i was there to teach you!! lol
as someone who used to scared of water, because of a drowning experience, i know how it is to fear swimming and having idiots at the pool certainly doesnt help either.
i dunno what swimming can do for people, but for me, its like water yoga lol its like "me" time and i just get time to relax when im under water...
His torso kind of freaks me out.

loopygorilla -- where do I start? My first lessons as a kid they gave you a float board, but they literally told me to jump in the water with it, and I was terrified. About 10 years ago I started taking some lessons and gained some confidence, but then my battle with serious depression began and I stopped taking lessons, and I lost my confidence and all that I learned. And just the other day I went to the pool at my townhome complex. This woman that lives here brought her motley crew of landwhale grandkids. The fuckers where dive-bombing & belly-flopping into two-thirds of the pool and making so much fucking noise. I was literally hoping one of them would drown so they would clear the pool out. I know what you mean about the quiet & solitude you feel in the water. I'm glad swimming has helped you so much with your asthma.
I'm shocked Allegra Versace is still alive: she has battled SEVERE anorexia for eons now.

did the swim teachers allowed you to use floating boards and fins?
i used to have a fear of water as well, but growing up i had bad asthma, so the doctor said, swim or else its medication.
and i force myself to get lessons, and now i swim 3-4 times a week cuz its a great feeling being under water and not hearing anything or anyone, its very soothing to feel your body just gliding through water.
and my asthma is gone now, and i love swimming.
his body is nice.. but he's got reverse tramp stamps.. ick
Bigbendy -- I just think he's fug, but on the other hand, I have tremendous respect for swimmers. I'm a water sign, I love water, I love being in it, on it, near it, yet I can barely swim & I'm scared to death of it. I've tried numerous swimming lessons and I still can't get past my fear. I wish I could find the right swimming teacher who could help me learn how to finally swim.
Can't get turned on by this guy... I just can't.

Why is everyone hating on my boy Phelps? He has done so much for the sport of swimming. He is a great and exciting competitor. He is no great looker but that can't be helped. He has a body to die for. I hope he kicks ass in the Olympics and reps the USA well.
Phelps is just a super-specialized little monkey, isn't he? His body IS a water-parting projectile. He seems like a nice enough guy to me, and he has plans to quit swimming professionally and focus on something else, which tells me he's got a soul and isn't all about being an Unsufferable Big Shot for the rest of his life.
And Mike Tyson seems to have found some peace and a sense of humor about himself, so "Happy Birthday" to him too.
