Hot Slut Of The Day!
By now, I'm sure all of you have already ground all your teeth up and punched your laptop screen while watching the videos of Karen Huff Klein, a 68-year-old bus monitor for the Greece Central School District in Rochester, NY, getting verbally attacked by a group of demon middle schoolers from the dirty anus lips of HELL. If you haven't seen any of the videos and can stomach watching corroded asshole children call a grandma a "fat, ugly, poor troll" and threaten to piss on her doorstep, then watch this shit below. Even Lucifer was like "too far, too far" when Karen started crying and a brat said she was just crying for Twinkies.
When I first watched this at Towleroad yesterday morning, I wanted to go back in time, morph into Karen and beat all of those demons with their own shoes. Then I'd tell the driver to drive to each of those kids' houses so I could beat their parents with their shoes.
From what I've read on HuffPo, the clip first showed up on Reddit about a day ago and within hours Redditors identified the specific school and sent emails to the district. Reddit (or maybe 4 Chan) also identified Karen and sent supportive notes to her Facebook page. By the afternoon, it already went massively viral and the school district held a press conference where they said they would punish all students involved. The Greece Police Department opened up their own investigation and questioned several of the students.
Karen gave an interview to Democrat and Chronicle yesterday and she told them that since she's hearing impaired, she didn't hear a lot of the shit nuggets of hate that flew out of those kids' mouths as they said it. But she heard it all when she watched the clips. Karen said that the hardest thing to hear was one kid saying that her children should kill themselves, because her son took his life 10 years ago. On Today this morning, Karen says she hopes the students are punished and so far none of them have apologized to her. Karen has worked for the district for over 20 years and has been a bus monitor for 3. Karen plans to continue to work in the school system, because she says not all kids are evil.
A fundraiser was set up to give Karen a dream vacation or help with retirement. When I checked yesterday afternoon, it was at $30,000 and when I checked again last night, it was at around $80,000. It's at $140,000 as of right now. The man who set up the page is currently trying to pass control over to Karen. Matt Lauer told Karen about the fundraiser and she says all the warm support from the Internet has been awesome.
In conclusion: Middle school kids are THE WORST. All those brats should be sent to abuelita summer camp where the power of the chancla will teach them to respect their elders.

What the do you think Kodak did with all the toxic film chemicals they produced? Companies like Kodak and Dow Chemical dumped secretly everywhere. Thus the chronic illness all over Western New York.

Wow. I'm mostly a lurker and a bit late to the comment thread, but I feel the need to join in by spouting my own opinion. Yes, this was horrible, and yes the children should face consequences. But........kids today are horrible........every bit as horrible as they were when I was in middle school. We just didn't have cell phone cameras and internet. Kids were still being smacked around quite a bit at the time, and the funny thing to me about all these comments suggesting that a lack of spanking is what causes this behavior is my recollection of the bullies I grew up with. The worst offenders were the ones with the parents who beat them and smacked them around the most.
I just heard the donations are up to $450,000. Personally, I would donate a large chunk of it, but the way those little shits treated her, she deserves it.
I have no sympathy for those kids getting death threats. They need to learn their actions have consequences.

Holy shit! My retired grandpa is a driver for the Greece district here in Rochester so I am certain that he knows her. I must call him today! By the way, he is mostly deaf as are most of these drivers and attendants, sadly. Those Greece/Athena kids are low class. It is not a classy district so this isn't surprising. Bad breeding begets this behavior, unfortunately.

The parents of these monstrous children said they had no idea their children would ever be capable of acting like this. I don't know if this is true, but I believe it probably is. This is why I spy on my child. Yes goddamit I spy in my seven year old, lol, and talk to her teacher often. Thankfully she's very well behaved. Some of her fellow students are complete hellions, though. I'm not going to speculate how they became that way. All I can say is keep your eye on your kids, violate their damn privacy, even when they're teens because until they're adults they're your responsibility so make sure they're doing right. That was exactly what I was thinking. I never could have talked to an adult like that. And the kid that was grabbing at her arm and pushing her with a book and all of that has Future Date Rapist written all over him. You don't aggressively handle an adult as a kid that young unless you have severe psychological problems. I make no apologies whatsoever for keeping my kids in private schools. The rudest thing I have ever seen one of those kids do is to throw something down a stairway a year ago. If schools still spanked like they did when I was little, I think this bus ride would have look very different.
What??? There are people here saying she DESERVED this treatment because she wasn't good enough at her job? NOBODY deserves to get treated this way. Nobody. Now, I'm not saying the brats need to be beaten or harassed for the rest of their lives because they are middle school aged brats and that is just not appropriate. What is appropriate, though, is several months worth of after school detentions, writing over and over, "I WILL respect school teachers and staff.... I WILL respect school teachers and staff..." until it sinks into their nasty beast brains that what they did was wrong and that they have to suffer consequences.
Why was her status "crap"? Don't know, maybe she wasn't pulling her weight in other areas..maybe some catty b*tches had it in for her - Public School is mostly women now. And buildings full of women only working together is NOT a pretty sight. Whatever the reason, it took a twisted,bullying supervisor to place her in this position.
Really, what I find saddest about this whole story is why this woman has to still work at 68.

This kind of thing has been going on for years. I attended both private and public schools. I have to say, public school is much worse for this type of thing. What is scary is that these kids will grow up to become what? There is a higher expectation for behavior in private school. I mean no offense because as I said, I attended public school for over half of my education. I am just speaking from my own experience and observation. One of my kids is in private, one is in public but I am reconsidering that.

First off, it's called the collective "we", and it is a common way to express society as a whole. So yes, we as a majority hold men and the young to a higher standard in these situations...so suck it.
Second, I DO have an idea what she does the rest of the year, because in her very first interview she admitted that this was not the first incident like this, and that she and other kids on the bus had been bullied in the past, this was just the worst. You are right though, I didn't get that from one ten minute video...I managed to pay attention long enough to listen to the reports that accompanied this video. In response to the comment about Western NY being full of toxic waste, that's true for certain areas, but Rochester is a good 2 hours away from Love Canal and the rest. You can blame Kodak for the shrunken brains of these swamp beasts they called kids. Not all of us WNYers are evil gnomes and there are some nice areas around.
Now, as for these....things, they should be forced to join a chain gang and pick up trash on the side of the road all summer while baking in the hot sun. And whip their asses too. These brats nowadays are treated like delicate little flowers and it needs to stop. I see it happening on a much lower level with my teen cousin. She has a smart mouth and gets away with it.
Never have I been more happy about being child free. I hope this poor lady can retire.

Take it from someone who has worked many years with the school district, there is not much you can do in a situation like that. You'd have to at least have two monitors on that bus to control that type of behavior. She did the right thing, b/c the situation could have escalated and really gotten out of control, it could've gotten physically violent. And if that happened, you're then endangering every student on that bus. I know what you mean though, it's like, why can't she at least say STFU, but that's like putting fuel on fire to these kids."

To wit, a situation where my being a stone-cold street-fighting cunt paid off in dividends. I laid in wait for a boy who bullying me when I was 17. Picture it: Massachusetts, winter of 1994. Heaps of snow. I waited until his little punk ass walked past me to the bus stop and I charged at his twerpy little frame like the raging bull that I am (the aforementioned snow concealed my position). I threw him face down in the snow and shoveled snow down his shirt while rubbing his face in it.
I told him if he didn't put a stop to the rumor he started about me, that I was going to do this to him every day and every day I'd fuck him 10 times worse than the day before. Rumor was quashed before lunchtime. Suck it, Kurt, like the little bitch you are, wherever the fuck you are!
Moral of that story? never underestimate the element of surprise.
Anyway, these kids are heartless little bastards. Not only do I hope they are punished, I hope the shame eats them alive.

This poor woman's status with the school district was already crap. Why do you think they put her in this ridiculous situation? So if she reported "the incident" as you say, she would in effect be saying "I cannot perform my job duties" and be fired. Which no doubt this sleazy school district wanted to do to her anyway. I was written up this year by my administrator for not controlling a book throwing, cursing,chair throwing, seriously disturbed student while simultaneously teaching my other high needs students.

Why was it crap? Incompetence in another position? Believe me, I have seen people who were fucked over in these types of situations, so I am not unaware that shit like that goes on. If by reporting an incident that she was not able to control because of limitations placed on her by the school district she lost her job, she should and would have one hell of a lawsuit on her hands. Additionally, if the School District doesn't have cameras on their buses, it's her word against theirs, and trying to get an employee fired over something like that is very hard if you cannot prove it. Our district got them right fucking quick after too many he-said-she-saids. Funny how there isn't a lot of disagreement these days.
She cannot physically restrain or assault them, but her verbal response doesn't amount to a fart in the wind. Her first responsibility was to the other children on that bus, and asking for help is not a firing offense. She could easily document that to back herself up-- instead she sat silent. That is wrong.
I can tell you that I have been involved in stopping shit like this in situations where it was reported by one brave soul and NOT the people whose job it was to do so. Let's just say that it is not their problem anymore.
The bottom line in life is if you can't do a job, DON'T. The economy sucks, life is hard, not everyone is as much of a raging mouthy cunt as I am...I get it. You don't see me in accounting or diplomacy for two reasons...I suck at math, and the second is rather obvious.

Could not watch the video, as it would make me stabby. I agree TexnDoc that the school bus monitor needs to be someone who isn't as timid (and apparently hearing impaired) as this poor soul.

While I understand that, ideally, the bus monitor should have opened up a can of verbal whoop ass on those sorry creatures, that sort of response isn't always possible in the real world.
I remember suffering bullying (albeit not as severe as this) as the new kid at a vicious suburban middle school. Not only did I never receive help from any kids, faculty, or staff, the f@#$ing principal of the school once yelled at me for being bullied. When I came home, it turned out that he'd called my mother - and she proceeded to yell at me.
Such experiences are instant death for one's trust in hierarchies and authority figures. I don't doubt that 68-year-old Karen felt something like the 13-year-old me: that the kids and the system were beneath her contempt. You can't fix what's not fixable.
Anyway, I hope Karen has one f@#$ of a vacation and retirement.

This poor woman's status with the school district was already crap. Why do you think they put her in this ridiculous situation? So if she reported "the incident" as you say, she would in effect be saying "I cannot perform my job duties" and be fired. Which no doubt this sleazy school district wanted to do to her anyway. I was written up this year by my administrator for not controlling a book throwing, cursing,chair throwing, seriously disturbed student while simultaneously teaching my other high needs students.
I am soooo happy she will be receiving a big fat check. Hope she goes into her supervisor's office with it and quits.
Naughtychimp, on the contrary, maybe this will give someone good ideas so they can set up a page for those organizations too. Or at least give them more press. I agree the Trevor project and others could do with the generous donations! ;P

That's a good idea to have two monitors on the bus, but how could they afford that? It's a shame but they almost need like a guard or police on those buses *shakes my head*
But it's true, don't know who brought this up but if there had been other kids being bullied, they would be looking to the monitor for help. ;( That school should take a hard look at what's going on because those brats are outta control!

Oof. I've read every single one of these comments and I'm pleasantly surprised that plenty of Dlisters are total hard-ass disciplinarians.
I don't agree that this is only a single parent phenomenon. I see plenty of parents in the nearby rich neighborhood: eg. Mom's a litigator, dad's a hedge fund manager and the kids are raised to be high achieving, athletic psychopaths. The issue has more to do with parents spending time with their children... not sitting in front of the TV in silence but eating dinner together, showing the child how to do chores, etc.
I don't really like that Helen has received sooooo much money. I don't hold it against her, but with something like $50K she could have paid off her debts, gone on a Florida vacation and bought herself a Thomas Kinkade memaw painting. I wish that the rest of the donations were going to Planned Parenthood (paying for birth control so fewer little monsters are born); Trevor Project (stop bullying); a legal fund that pays to prosecute abusive kids/ their parents...
