Happy birthday Alf! You (and the wondrous Vince Clarke) were the soundtrack to my childhood.

Dear Macca: Please stop dyeing your hair. No one's buying it. HB to you. Isabella Roselini: you are a hero! IR fosters doggehs and as Gardening Girl mentioned, does great, silly animal porn. I'm buying her and her doggehs all the drinks and cake they want today. HB to Roger Ebert too. Worthy Slores today.

No escapin' when I start
Once I'm in, I own your heart.

Sir Paul was my first love! lol. And we actually got to see a bit of Paul tushy in that scene from Help! I only chewed Wrigley's Spearmint gum for years because of it too. Ah youth!

HB Sir Paul, Isabella, Roger and the other sluts today! ;p

Is that really Paul in the photo? Doesn't look like him at all.

Paul: the sappy Beatle. He needed Lennon's leavening to be really great. Agree with those who said his post-Beatles career is weak ('cept I loved his first solo LP).

He and Lennon harmonized when singing as well as anyone. He and Linda didn't harmonize quite as well.

Happy Birthday Isabella Rossellini! Love you and your animal porn! More please!

Yay! So glad you featured Sir Paul. Love him!! (although I agree, he needs to hang up the mic and just compose).

i just remember John's playboy interview when he talked about his and P's common bond of mother-loss, and he always felt "Yesterday" as encompassing some of Paul's deeper feelings about it
===========================================
Interesting, we do know John had MAJOR mother issues that's for sure!

I wonder if John would still be with Yoko today?

You must be thinking of a different tune, yesterday came to him basically in his sleep, he woke up with the melody .. it's more about a relationship or at least a broken up relationship ..

got me there - shouldn't have implied that he sat down and wrote a song about his mother dying .. but then again, losing one's mum so young is a broken up relationship too .. i just remember John's playboy interview when he talked about his and P's common bond of mother-loss, and he always felt "Yesterday" as encompassing some of Paul's deeper feelings about it

anyway, thx for holding my feet to the fire, Whammy! :)

I know I'm gonna catch shit for this, but Sir Paul...goddamn, really, give it a rest. You were awesome in the Beatles but really, all this shit with Wings??? "Silly Love Songs"?? I seriously have to gouge my ears out when I hear that. And anything else he's done, pretty much... "Say Say Say" with Michael Jackson?? Gawd help me. I now want to kill myself. My idea of hell would be having to listen to Sir Paul for eternity.

I can't disagree with a word of this, Hockey, except to say - "Can't Buy Me Love"
"Michelle"
"She's a Woman"
[+ etc etc etc more brilliant creations that will live forever]

anyway, for me the awesome far outshines the hack

But he also did Maybe I'm Amazed, Live and Let Die, Band On the Run. I loved the Wings mainly because it's the soundtrack to childhood, BUT in the 80's he kinda lost it for sure.

Happy birthday to funny woman Carol Kane... she is awesome in everything but my favorite was her character on Two and a Half Men... she grew the righteous chronic

Sounds like the kidlings had a great time:) I spend Saturday helping a buddy do some patio stone work and I feel it today for sure, lugging around 70lb stones ain't as fun as when I was 28:)
Sunday it was overcast so I burned out on the couch and did an unusual dlist day..and even more unusual weekend JJ fuck over. Speaking of dates I'll run by my latest quandary with women on OP remind me:)

That being said, his kids are normal, he does good things, and he loved his first wife. So ok, I'll
cut him some slack as long as he stops making music. Deal?

And "Yesterday" is really heartbreaking when you realize it was written about his mother dying from breast cancer when he was 14

You must be thinking of a different tune, yesterday came to him basically in his sleep, he woke up with the melody in his head and worked out the words Scrambled Eggs until he came up with Yesterday. it's more about a relationship or at least a broken up relationship. I didn't have to do with his mom though, sorry don't mean to be a dick. lol! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLAKE SHELTON!!
Oh, the things I would do to him... "blushes"

humans_off_earth_now's picture

Oh, and one more thing about Paul. Over more than five decades he has arguably given more enjoyment to the world than any other person alive. Nothin to sneeze at.

Plus, he likes weed and not eating crap food, so points there too.

And "Yesterday" is really heartbreaking when you realize it was written about his mother dying from breast cancer when he was 14.

Happy birthday, Sir Paul!

Also to the funny and unique Carol Kane (my favorite is her cameo on "Seinfeld") and Alison Moyet (Whamo's song sucked me right back to boarding school), and the fantastic Isabella Rossellini who is my role model for being an older lady.

And Roger Ebert, who is a rockstar.

I have no idea who any of the young people are, as usual. Get off my lawn.

Hello Whamo!
I had a good weekend, galpal over for wine on Fri night and then me and the kids all weekend with their friends in our house half the time and my kids in theirs half the time. They have a very 70s/80s childhood, I had to call them in at 10pm last night, they were playing b-ball and building forts with about 10 other kids! Mr F returns from Europe tonight.

How was your weekend? I HOPE YOU DIDN'T GO ON A DATE WITH ANYONE??!!

HB Paul! I loved that scene from Help. His towel is actually a Wrigley's Spearmint Gum wrapper.

HB Isabella Rosselini, just because she always seemed like a cool person.

HB Roger Ebert! Anybody who doesn't follow his review page (and blog too) is missing some great writing.

Fuck Mondays! Off to the rat race.

Sir Paul McCartney.....HUGE Beatles fan and think Paul was a true master songwriter, but after watching the Jubilee I have to admit it's time for him to step down OR figure out what's wrong with his voice. He sounded brutal and has for years now.

Kurt Browning...one of the few male figure skaters that doesn't come off uber gheeeeey, him and Elvis Stoyko (sp)?

Alison Moyet...beautiful voice, great 80's sound and still making music to this day.

Carol Kane...Pretty AND funny, great combo for and actress

Isabella Rossellini...Meh..I never understood her "beauty"

Roger Ebert..I give him props for going out in public after his surgery,

I remember when he turned 40 and thought...oh my god he's fucking old. Happy birthday to Sir Paul, loveyou!

(Juniperjump that picture is a still from the Beatles movie "Help!" He got shrunk and was swimming around in an ashtray wearing a towel. I don't know why. This is a very young Paul)
