Rodney King Has Passed Away
Rodney King was found dead in the backyard of his home in Rialto, CA early this morning. For those of you young hos who are like, "Who's Rodney King?" Please tell your 7th grade history teacher to give a long lesson on the 1991 brutal police beating of Rodney King, which lead to an acquittal, which led to the massive L.A. Race Riots.
There's not a lot of confirmed details, but TMZ is on this hard and has heard a few things. Rodney's fiancee, Cynthia Kelley, is telling friends that he spent the entire day yesterday boozing and smoking weed at the house. When she called it a night and went to bed at 2 this morning, Rodney was still drinking and was in a good mood. Then at around 5 this morning, Cynthia was awoken by Rodney's screams. She found Rodney naked and banging on the glass. Cynthia asked him what was wrong before she ran to grab her phone, to call 911 presumably. Cynthia then heard a splash and she ran to the backyard. Cynthia found Rodney lying at the bottom of the pool. The paramedics showed up and were unable to bring Rodney back. Rodney was only 47 years old.
After the riots and a federal trial in 1993, which ended with two of the officers found guilty, Rodney King was in a bad way. Rodney battled addiction and was arrested a couple of times. In 2009, Rodney was on both Celebrity Rehab and Sober House, and to me came across as a nice, quiet, sad, troubled (I hate that word too, but I couldn't think of another one) guy who really wanted to get his shit together.
Oh, and if you haven't been to Facebook today, you might want to stay away unless you really want to see a dozen statutes that say: "Can't all just..." you know the rest.

Totally sounds like a drug like bath salts or some shit. Naked (from the crazy rise in blood temp), acting crazy and probably violent. I bet you he jumped in to try and cool down.
Regardless of his past/present history, I would imagine he had friends and family that loved him.

Cops like these will use any and all excuses to beat the hell out of those that they've come to see as beneath them, no matter how much or how little they resist.
Bottom line, cops are professionally trained to take people down without beating the living shit out of them.

He may have been "trash," but dang it, I know trash! i gots trash in my family! rodney trash tried a lot harder than most not to be trash. that may not make him a hero, but considering how he could have gone, i liked him. he actually told us to try and get along. so simple. if only it were! how many times i find myself saying that--can't we all just get along? not love not tolerate, just get along.
i was really sad when i read the news this morning. a lot sadder than i could have imagined. i just feel for the guy.
oh, and he showed us what we already knew--the police can be out of control. they need to show restraint PRECISELY with the people of rodney's ilk. dealing with people like him does not excuse their behavior.
RIP mr. king. good luck to your kids. i hope they achieve what you couldn't.

For him to be on the bottom of the pool, NO air could be in his lungs. 90% of drowning victims are found on the surface because there is some air in their lungs which means they were struggling and alert at least initially. For him to be found at the bottom, either he was held down or he repeatedly inhaled water or he was so far down into unconsciousness, he didn't wake up.

No disrespect to Mr. King's death, but, don't the circumstances seem strange?
If he'd been boozing and toking all day, he'd probably be a hot LAZY mess. I would think he would've accidentally fallen asleep while in the pool, or fallen in while passed out.
But his gf says he was banging on the window and screaming. OK. Maybe his pot was laced or he got his hands on some bad shit. His gf runs to the window to ask what's wrong. She then runs to get a phone -- what 30 seconds to do that? max? Maybe if the phone is misplaced, a minute? -- and when she returns, he is already lifeless, sunk to the bottom of the pool.
I don't think someone could drown that fast, let alone drown *and* sink. If he was screaming and freaking out and jumped/fell into the pool, I would think he'd be hyper enough to fight it -- might still drown, but I can't see a drowning happening in such a short amount of time. Plus, if he had just drown, wouldn't his body be floating at the top? That I don't know about. Still seems weird.
Something is fishy with the gf's story.

Well folks,
There comes a time when sometimes it is all too much. These last few days had really put me in tailspin about how harsh the world can be and the people who are in it.
