Maria Menounos Tells Howard Stern She Was Molested By Doctors
I went with that picture, because reading a story about doctor molestation as told to Howard Stern is sometimes easier to read when a stoned poodle with black jellybean eyes is staring at you.
Maria Menounos, who co-hosts that Extra shit with AC Slater, was on Howard Stern yesterday to promote something or another and their talk strangely went from how she didn't do the naked rumba with her completely heterosexual DWTS partner Derek Hough to how several male gynos have touched her wrong. While my ass got an Operation-game like shock in my loins while watching that hot piece Dr. Richard Besser (you ain't never accused me of having standards) talk about Robin Roberts' condition on Nightline last night, Maria doesn't have it like that for doctors. Maria has a serious phobia of doctors and she can't get examined by one unless her boyfriend of 14 years Kevin Undergaro is in the room with her.
Maria told Howard the horror started years ago when she went to see a doctor for an issue with her throat. The doctor told her to get naked and change into a hospital gown. As far as Maria knows, her throat didn't suddenly drop into her coochie area, so she was traumatized when the doctor started pressing on her genitals without telling her he was going to do so. Maria went on (via The Stir):
I was really young, so I was so uncomfortable ... [My boyfriend] Kevin was in the waiting room and I literally started screaming ... I was just so uncomfortable I didn’t know what to do.
Kevin told her to call the police and press charges against Dr. Molesty McSickFuck, but she says she didn't want to make the issue worse. Maria told Howard that it wasn't the only time a doctor made her feel extra gross inside. It happened to her several times by different doctors including one time when a dude doctor complimented her belly button ring before touching it.
It is kind of weird that Maria said all of this to Howard, but stranger things have happened on Howard's show (see: Jenny McCarthy's entire interview). I have so many questions, but since my brain is a tundra of dumb uselessness, the one I kept asking myself while reading this was: THE HELL? Was her doctor the creepy ass bitch from Hand that Rocks the Cradle?

No, Migraineuse, this is not victim blaming (I've been a victim various times). I don't even see how one can take that as victim blaming. It is the fact that predators can pick up on past abuse (as I can pick up on others' past abuse, being a victim myself) and they see those people as being easy targets. This phenomenon has been acknowledged by various entities including the DOJ, the CDC, and psychologists. It is a sad and unfortunate fact. It is a prerogative of our "justice" system to remove the attackers from the general population. Unfortunately, the system is beyond broken. All child abusers and all rapists should be castrated and locked up for life, as they are unable to be rehabilitated and have scarred their victims for life. Don't you ever accuse me of victim blaming victims of sexual abuse. You do not know my history, and if you did, you would realize how incredibly wrong you are.
My thoughts exactly... when this happened the first time and made her uncomfortable, why go to another male doctor? Stick to females. She doesn't live in a podunk town where there are only a few doctors to choose from in any given field. When my son was a baby he had ear problems and there was only one ear specialist in my town. She lives in Los Angeles. With all that said... she should have filed charges.

Thanks TigerLilly. I'll fire my chiropractor and get a more thorough dentist. Pronto!
How dumb is this woman? She was old enough to have her boyfriend take (drive?) her to the doctor appointment rather than a mother or father. I don't know *anyone* of an age old enough to go to the doctor without a parent who would undress when seeing the doctor for a throat problem.
And before anyone decides that I am a uninformed male I will tell you that I am a woman who understands the horror of child molestation and the very real problems of female victimization and abuse. This is not a "blame the victim" screed. I simply cannot put this situation into the class of a woman being victimized. She was a supposedly mature adult who was acting stupidly. And then not to report it? Sheesh...

Chiropractor no...Dentist yes...Yeah, it's something about how when they squeeze your nekkid boobies, it remineralizes your teeth...Oh and it gives them a massive erection too...but you know you're at the dentist, so it's time to drill, drill, drill...Gotta fill those cavaties...
No matter, I leave with a 'script for Vicoden, a tube of Preperation H and a donut pillow to sit on for 2 weeks...but I have a purty smile...See? Wait why are you whores looking at me like that?

Sorry, Roger, you are tiger now...
Not to "victim-blame"...ahem...but this would never happen to me. When my oncologist had me face down on a bed with his knee on my ass using a hand crank to pop out a piece of my bone marrow (this is really how they do a bone marrow biopsy -some medical practices are medieval), I quipped, "This is like a typical Saturday night at my place...except you wouldn't have a corkscrew and I wouldn't have cancer." Zing!
In summary, I guess I am the pervert in these types of situations. _____________________________________________

This abuse may happen more often then we think in hospitals and police stations. Nowadays if a female patient is being examined by a male doctor a female nurse or medical assistant is in the room.
_______________________________________
Two things come to mind:
It's possible for a female to be assaulted by a female doctor. (I was. I'm not giving you details, but it wasn't overtly sexual. The woman was a hugely angry person who couldn't do a procedure right, and took her anger out on me.)
This practice of having a female present when a male doctor examines a female patient is unfortunately not standard practice in Eastern Europe. I have been assaulted by a male doctor here.
It happens a lot more than you might imagine, because women are ashamed and don't want to speak up. I don't blame them, in a society that blames women for their own abuse and lets the men who do it off the hook.
That's why I'm saying something: to let other victims who might read this know they're not alone.

I agree with those saying that prior abuse attracts subsequent abuse and that there is no "normal" time, place, or way to admit one has been a victim. Also, who are we to judge why she didn't report it? She could have other issues, especially with cops, the "justice" system and/or actually admitting to herself that it happened, that we don't know about. Don't get me started on my multiple experiences with this.
My first ob/gyn exam was a rape kit. After waiting 12 hours at the hospital, the one and only doctor available to see me was male. I let him do the exam, with a female social worker, 2 female nurses, and a female cop present. I have to REALLY trust a male doctor to put his hands on me. I tend to stick with females.
i have no idea if her doctor was evil, but there is a possibility that he was checking her lymph nodes.
(yes he should have had a nurse in the room)
she had a sore throat and often that is caused by swollen glands- which actually are lymph nodes.
point being we also have lymph nodes in the groin area as well as other areas (breasts etc

I went to a male doc for a routine pap smear when I was celibate. The doc had a nurse in the room and was very gentle.
Being a responsible adult I went back 6 months later for birth control because I began dating a hot guy.
This same son of a bitch proceeds to give me a lecture on how he personally doesn't believe in or approve of premarital sex. No nurse in the room, and the exam left me with constant pain for THREE (3!) DAYS!. I'm a grown ass 30-something year old woman FFS. I left in tears and rage demanding to his office staff,in a waiting room full of patients, that my records be sent elsewhere. I should have reported his ass.
6 years later I hear he has prostate cancer and I'm NOT ONE BIT SORRY. It's KARMA as far as I'm concerned!
Also, I can't STAND female OB/GYN's. I was with a boyfriend that would always try to have sex with me unprotected. So when she asked me if protection was involved and I said no, she basically asked me how I would feel if she discovered I had AIDS.
I have NOT been to a OB/GYN since.
I also picked up plan B once (when I in fact was protected) but the pharmacist made a snide remark that the plan B was the last one on the shelf and if I made my partner use a condom, I wouldn't be scrambling to the pharmacy and make her find the last plan B.
I reported that bitch too.
Fortunately, I have an AWESOME female doctor. But some of the snarkiest I've come across have been female. It really sucks because it makes the really good female nurses look bad.

I was a skinny, pink preemie. I looked like an earthworm until I was two months old.
If she didn't go to the police then shut it. If it's a warning to others then she sets a poor example. Let the doctor "molest" you and then years later talk to Howard Stern about it for sh**s and giggles. This trick is always trying to get attention. I wonder what her next stunt will be. Bullying is a popular subject. Hummm.
Your stories about pervy male doctors are creeping me the hell out! Thankfully I've never had a male doctor try to feel me up or get sexy during an exam. I don't know if I'd just clam up. I'm nervous as it is during doctor appointments and tend to get shy and super obedient. Thank goodness no Dr. McPervy was like "Ok, so you have a runny nose? Panties off, please." I think I'd die. Like many of yall, I was abused as a kid by family, so I tend to attract abusive behaviors (and fight it with all my will.) But pervy doctors, no. I guess I've been lucky. With Maria here, I think there's truth to her story. It could also be that previous abuse has made her both attractive to abusers, and also fucks with her mind so she could be paranoid about people's behavior. But hell, I really don't know.
Is this why her personal area looks like raw meat swinging from a hook???

I was molested as achild. When I was 17, I went to a military docor complaining of not being able to breath and chest pain. After feeling me up, my diagnoses was having a large chest. I told my mom and she called the base commander. Turns out I had bronchitis. Don't know what happened to that dr.
Drs can be skeevy, but something's not ringing true for me. But it is possible.
Poodle says: "Will someone tell this stupid bitch to take her hand off my balls?"
When I entered university, for whatever reason, no matter what you would go to their health centre for (sore throat, the flu, etc.), they'd have their student doctors give you full exams, including pelvic check. We were basically guinea pigs who got these first year doctors to experiment on us.
I went in for some random pain (a bruised rib), and the doctor told me to strip. I said, "fuck this" and ran off.

agree w/Irish Fury -- abusers know who to go after, abuse victims suppress revealing the abuse because they feel they will be judged as stupid or at fault, and some people look at doctors as damn near godlike. we don't even know if she's ever told her boyfriend exactly why she needs him with her, he could just know that she freaks out and he too may have just heard the true story
i agree Howard Stern is a master interviewer. he just hides it in foolery and he does it without asking direct questions but instead asking the right follow-up question to whatever signal flag his babbling guest gives him. he is really good.
my gyn is male and i've gone to him over a decade. excellent care provider and very comfortable bedside manner -- we trade jokes through the entire exam. i have to actually get online and read some jokes before i go to my appointment so i'll have something to throw back at him, lol

Look at how some of us are calling Maria stupid, like it's her fault. I know a lot of people were raised to listen to and do exactly what a doctor says, and if you're young and female? Even moreso. I wouldn't be surprised if a large number of us have a similar story.
I resent you implying that being young and female automatically means being an idiot. Going in for, apparently, a throat exam and agreeing to strip off isn't something being "young and female" makes you do, but something which being utterly stupid makes you do. This isn't child sex abuse we're talking about.
Never heard of this person in my life, but I hate her already.
Apparently no one has told her that our progressive society has finally begun to allow women to become doctors - in the last five years or so - and you can elect to go to one if you have that big a phobia of male doctors.
I had a skeezy doctor when I was in high school who used to press his junk against my knee/leg while he was talking to me. I am beyond repulsed by the entire medical profession now. Just don't touch me. Bleh.

I agree. I have had female GYN nurses when I was younger who were judgemental and said little snide remarks. I was young and didn't say anything. As a middle age woman, I would snap back and leave immediately.
One thing Menounos said was that women should feel empowered over their own bodies and their health. And I agree with her.

I think I saw her on Dr. Drew blathering about how she can't have kids too :-P
My gut feeling tells me she's a liar, which adds well to her already being boring and talentless...
My doc (actually a nurse practitioner, and better than any doc I've ever been to) never touches any partially-clothed or unclothed female without a female staffer also in the room. I'm well past molestation-candy age myself, but I still appreciate the respect and the silent acknowledgement that our society is awash in opportunistic sexual abuse, and not even a whiff of it shall be even dreamed of in his office.
Why would this gal blather to Howard Stern about such things? Well, why not? I was severely abused by a teacher at age 13, and like all of em, he counted on and got my silence and shame when he needed it. Good for her talking at all.
I can only imagine how much worse it is for male victims, such as at the hands of institutionalized sex abuse complexes such as the Catholic Church.

Not to offend those who have truly had horrid true experiences with doctors, this trick is so full of crap. Know her and she's world's biggest story embellisher and is a dim bulb. Her other interviews include when she was complimented on her straight teeth and smile and sympathized how braces are worth it, this trick said she never had braces and got perfect teeth by pushing her tongue against them non stop like her momma told her to do and that's how she has hollywood teeth. True story. Actual deal was she had invisible braces and retainers but tried to hide it.
She's also not that dim a bulb that if this occurred, she's got a temper that she'd speak the hell up and shout it from roof top....not spindoctor a story on it umpteen years later on Howard cuz really, what else does she have to talk about? She's so full of shit it's insulting to patients who truly suffer doctor's abuse.
