Anyway, nice trip, overall. It really flew by. Got lots of miles on my sneakers. :-) Trip back home was gross though. Air Canada fucked up my new luggage and had a flight delay in Toronto because of lightening storms.

I read a bit about your Dad, I'm sorry to hear of his condition, I'm sure it's tough when he has his moments but hopefully he enjoyed himself as well.

Ya good old Air Canada eh!! My dad was a pilot with them back when they were a respectable airline, it's a shame to see how shitty and poor the service has gotten over the past 10 years or so.

I flew several different airlines in Europe and by far the worst was Air Canada. I find their airline crew on the International flights o be fair more service orientated than domestic. The crew from TO to Victoria were so haggard and bitchy. They did as LITTLE as possible and spent most of the flight gossiping together.

Salma, but you had a great time right? Bet your Dad appreciated being there with everyone in one place! I mean, those all-family trips, they're hard enough to do but end up being what you remember the most later on!! No comment on Air Cda, I've flown worse... BELIEVE IT OR NOT! Alzheimer's is such a tough thing for loved ones to go through; though I've had very limited personal experience. That doesn't change the fact that I respect you greatly. I send endless positive thoughts to you and your family.

Alzheimer's is very hard for all the family. More so for my Mom and I who are looking after him. My Dad was never an easy man to deal with growing up. I've always had a very strained relationship but now as an adult, I see the vulnerability in him and want to mend things before its too late. Whereas, my brother and sister have pretty much exited from helping out in any way shape or form. So I guess it is their loss.

BH is working tonight, although he was none too pleased at getting up @ 3:45 this morning to take care of the boys. Going to hang on the couch and get some take-out - at least someone will take care of my needs!

I think the results of tomorrow will determine where I go from here. I may try to work from home a couple of days so that it lessens the impact of schlepping in and out of the city.

Baconslut, me too! I'm so glad he'll be put out to stud instead of having a horrifically drawn-out and painful injury, ala Barbaro. I honestly cannot tell you how many times I've cried over a seemingly avoidable injury, which usually results in instant euthanasia.
I'm a wuss, but I LOVE my horses (all animals really), they're so much better than (most) people. A lot of people doubt a horse's intelligence or abilities, but having worked in equine therapy for several years I've found it is the most amazing thing ever. I've gotten as much from them as my riders have.

No European lovahs unfortunately. I was too busy chasing after my dear old dad. It was a good trip but not entirely without stress. My dad has early stages of Alzeheimers. So there were some demanding moments. He took off on us in Venice and we thought we lost him for good. He had few tantrums and confused moments but otherwise I'm it was good. However, i'm glad we had that time together and will never forget it.

Jeaneee: tell her you're afraid to take on any obligations so close to your due date. What if you go into labor and have to run off to the hospital? Who'll take care of the dogs then?

Not that you asked, but I think it's nervy to ask that of you.

I wasn't doing that much (about 40-50% of norm) and assessing how I felt afterwards. The doc thinks that the root cause may be overcompensating for the injury to the right foot. I don't know. I just know that I want to puke from the pain.

WR - the right one, the one that was the original problem, is fine. The left one decided to join the party yesterday afternoon. Went to the doctor today and she said it was tendonitis in the ankle that is protruding to the top part of my foot. Meanwhile, every now and again when I walk, I hear a cracking noise. That's not normal. Going for a x-ray tomorrow.
