God Thinks We Invented God
Normally, I'd only bring up the topic "Does God exist?" if we were lying on my living room floor, passing the bong around, but I'm making an exception for Morgan Freeman! The God who succeeded George Burns as our Earth God is the host of The Science Channel's "Through the Wormhole" ("Note to self, find a new title for my memoirs." - John Travolta) and in an upcoming episode they get into the existence of God. While talking to Morgan Freeman about the show, The Wrap asked him if he believes in God. Morgan got deep and said he thinks that God is something we invented so musicians would have someone to thank when they win awards and I'd have a name to take in vain to give my abuelita a reason to slap me in the mouth.

Yes.So there isn't a God up in the sky somewhere. We came up with God ourselves.
Well, here's a scientific question: Has anybody ever seen hard evidence? What we get is theories from our earlier prophets. Now, people who think that God invented us think that the Earth can't be more than 6,000 years old. So I guess it's a question of belief. My belief system doesn't support a creator as such, as we can call God, who created us in His/Her/Its image.Would you consider yourself an atheist, or agnostic?
It's a hard question because as I said at the start, I think we invented God. So if I believe in God, and I do, it's because I think I'm God.

You call it "political correctness." I call it being sensitive to the most vulnerable people in our society. Our language is constantly changing. It used to be that black people were called various forms of the n-word and people with disabilities were called idiots, morons, etc. That has, thank Godless, for the most part changed. If your child had a disability you would probably be all for "people first" language. And if you had a child who was black, you'd probably be pissed if some asshole made a denigrating servant joke about him or her.

I hope there is a god because if there isn't then what's the point? I mean if your life sucks you could just end it after all nothing is going to happen. Believing that there are consequences to our actions (in the form of god) keeps us going, it's what makes us good IMO. I mean its obviously hard to say for sure, but for me am a believer that there is something greater than myself out there.

Not true. There's a belief in guided evolution, which acknowledges all scientific evidence. But I guess I couldn't expect a person from Hollywood to be well-informed.

Fundamentalists sure mucked it up for us Christians. I believe God created the world, but not 6,000 years ago. I believe in Darwinism and I believe in God, imagine that. Sounds silly I know. However, do you really think that our puny brains can understand everything about the being who created the ecosystem? Did you know the body recycles too? Hair and nails are dead cells. In any case, many in our lifetime will never see a molecule or an atom but we've been told by expert minds that they exist and they are crucial to our lives. I've had my own supernatural experience to believe that the story of Christ is real. I think human beings are so intuitive, that after millions of years of existence we'd kinda figure out by now that there's no higher power. The fact that we still believe after all this time, and more come to believe every day it is undeniable that there is something to it.
...my thoughts and knowledge about God are pretty clear...He Exists...He lets us F*** up because he gave us Free Will...He will intervene to save this World...eventually...
...I don't...however...believe or put any credibility in anything Morgan Freeman has to say since it was reported he was dating his step-granddaughter...

I'm not an atheist, I believe that there is life after death. But I don't really believe in heaven or hell. I don't believe the bible but I kinda think there is something out there, not sure who or what...
My motto is live and let live. Believe in whatever you want but don't make fucking laws based on your beliefs. Thats what pisses me off about religious people, they force it on others by making fucking laws telling people who they can marry and what a woman can do with her body.

See, I think mysticism and spiritualism are good for kids. They certainly enjoy it--look at any modern fantasy aimed at kids. The Old Testament is just another form of it. You don't have to convince him it was real or not; just let him enjoy the story.

All Morgan is doing is expressing a personal opinion, his opinion is just as valid as anyone else's.
Who created god then? This speaks to the fundamental question of whether there is in fact a god to have been created in the first place. Until we pass there is not a single soul on this plant that can give ANYONE that answer but in the meantime people in power armed with guns arrogance and hypocrisy conquer and divide others in the name of a God that may or may not exist.

i wouldn't care - except that important law is being made based on the values of religious nutters who insist that God says women are inferior, or that fetuses deserve more rights than a living person of the wrong skin color, or that President Obama is a Muslim. People are using their interpretation of "GOD" to say who should be married, who should drive a car, how long a person's hair should be, what animals should be eaten for food, what makes a woman 'unclean'...
that's why people lose their shit when it comes to religion.

I'm an educated, rational, basically non-religious person, but I could not finish "The God Delusion" because I felt the author was talking down to anyone who might even believe a little in god/God. He was so condescending that whatever point he had was lost.

I find that attitude with a lot of atheists. You don't have to believe in God, but don't make fun of my beliefs. The other thing I don't understand is why people spend so much time trying to disprove what they call a fairy tale. If you don't believe in something, why waste time trying to prove it doesn't exist? I don't believe in alien life forms, but I don't spend my time trying to disprove their existence. Their belief sn't hurting me.
