R.I.P. GCB, Ringer, Missing, CSI: Miami, Etc.....
Starting last night, every network slungshot themselves from California to NYC to officially present all of next season's shiny new shows. And to make way for their new hos, they had to strangle the life out of some of their old shows and some shows that lasted about as long as it takes for John Travolta's hungry Scientolohole to start begging for a finger bang after a massage starts. Some cancellations aren't going to bring on a chorus of pearl clutching (I'm looking at you, Ringer), but some are kind of surprising. I mean, how could they do that to Missing? Is Ashley Judd ever going to find her son or is she going to run around Europe while screaming "I AM A MOM, LOOKING FOR HER SON!" for the rest of damn eternity.
Anyway, put on your mourning veil and pour out some of your morning 40 oz. for all the shows that are now lying in the morgue.
ABC: GBC, The River, Missing, Pan Am, Work It, Man Up, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Charlie's Angels
NBC: Are You There, Chelsea?, Awake, Bent, Best Friend's Forever, Harry's Law, The Firm, Prime Suspect, Playboy Club, Who Do You Think You Are and Free Agents
CBS: CSI: Miami (click here to enter David Caruso's one liner In Memoriam), Gifted Man, How To Be A Gentleman, Unforgettable, Rob and NY 22
FOX: Terra Nova, Alcatraz, Breaking In, The Finder, I Hate My Teenage Daughter and Allen Gregory
The CW: Ringer, The Secret Circle and H8R
30 Rock and Gossip Girl will have their last seasons next season, Community was banished to Fridays with Whitney and Glee has been moved to Thursdays. Yeah, fuckery all abound!
The only show whose coffin I'm throwing my body on is GCB. GCB was a total copy+paste of Desperate Housewives, but it blessed my holy Sundays with what I really need to go on: MAN NIPPLES. In almost every episode of GCB, at least one dude character went topless and showed me the face of Jesus in his nipple holes. ABC can suck on a cold dick for that one and they can suck on another cold dick ("Who do I see about changing my name to ABC?" - John Travolta) for not picking up that Devious Maids mess with Susan Lucci in it. So no only is ABC keeping us away from man nipples, but they're also keeping us away from Susan Lucci's glamorously wooden acting. That is some dark-sided sinful shit.

"Are You There, Chelsea?, Awake, Bent, Best Friend's Forever, Harry's Law, The Firm, Prime Suspect, Playboy Club, Who Do You Think You Are and Free Agents"
am i the only one who found this strangely haiku-ish and sentence-y? apparently so. i'll shut up now.
Yikes, thought they canceled most of that crap a very long time ago. Whitney is just about the most stupid piece of crap out there. Ashley Judd is a dumbass and I refuse to watch anything she's on anyway.
*Lives in rerunland, far far away and enjoys 2 1/2 Men, NCIS, CSI, Without a Trace.. Dragnet, Gidget, McHale's Navy*
I AM SO FREAKING MAD THAT ABC CANCELED, GCB! I MEAN WTF?!?! THAT SHOW WAS MY GUILTY PLEASURE! IT WAS SO OVER THE TOP, AND THE JUST HILARIOUS! YES, ABC CAN SUCK A DICK!
They left my show alone, Person of Interest. I love Jesus in that.
That Chelsea crapfest should never been put on TV and Whitney is crap to the tenth degree.
The Missing was shit, I thought the story line was A Judd's twink son was kidnapped by Italian mafia selling American frat boy ass, but i was dissapointed. Especially when her twink son hooks up with a russian hooker. AS IF that shit happens.
he totally would have hooked up with some random Italian hottie guy named Francesco, and they would have moved to the amalfi coast and bang the hell outta each other.

Looks like....(puts on sunglasses) those ratings were anything but killer.
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
I hope The Soup resurrects the CSI: Miami sunglasses joke in honor of its cancellation! Used to make me rofl every time.
Well aren't you just carrying around a big bag of nothing!
Wasn't Pan Am canceled a couple of months ago? I'm sad about GCB, that's the only one of these shows I watched. I can't BELIEVE that Whitney was picked up. I tried to watch the first episode and couldn't do it.

Dang I was getting into Awake, it was good.
And thank god they got rid of that Allen Gregory shit. Keep Bob's Burgers thank you.
The rest, meh, I don't watch much network tv after Heroes went all stupid in its 2nd season.
Gonna miss The Firm....so well acted. I hardly watch any TV though, so guess I am not one to say anything about shows being cancelled. I just was enjoying that particular one.
I am completely mad that Harry's Law was cancelled. It was one of the highest rated shows on NBC in the over 49 category but they only care about the 18-49 category. Fucking pissed!
WHY do these stations show reality show after reality show and these dramas get canceled?
I agree with doing miniseries. I think Alcatraz (another show I liked) would have benefited from being a miniseries. Now we don't know what happens!
18th century fox...yeah, i am an anti semite. That's why i married a jew. The rest of your ramble is utterly impertinent and not coherent. Toots.
OH F**K!! I just read the list over and they cx'ed Awake!! That show fucking rocked.. *kicks couch*
And I agree with the Whitney haters. And whatever show Louis CK is doing. Who are those two blowing in Hollywood to get shows??? Fuck, they are so not funny.
GCB was awesome! I don't watch much network tv but when I heard it was created by Robert Harling -- aka Steel Magnolias' writer-- I ahd to watch it. I kept thinking, though, that it would be so much better and raunchier on HBO. Pick this shit up stat, HBO!!!
What about cancelling the evil that is WHITNEY?!?!??!?
Aw man, I liked The Finder and and GCB.
Also adding myself to the list of people who cannot believe that Whitney is still on. I couldn't even make it through one episode of that trash. It is the most painfully unfunny thing I have ever seen.

Breaking Bad, Mad Men and Dexter are the only shows worth watching at the moment.
Awww, I liked The River. Yeah it wasn't the best thing, but it was a mindless hour of tv I enjoyed.
And Community on Fridays??? REALLY?? WTF? Why are they trying to kill that show?
Sad, but glad that they are getting rid of The River. I forced myself to watch the first season, because I needed something to fill the void in mah heart after LOST was over. It never happened though I did get pulled into the story a little bit.
I just watch hockey and weather, Animal Planet, and movies on DVD. :)

Sucks about Terra Nova, even if it was cheesy (the old military guy is hot...don't judge :P ) but The River was one shit show. Every other scene was stolen from another show. It would make a fantastic drinking game. Drink if you've seen this cliche before. Drink again if you can name the show/film where you saw it. They pissed me off with the zombie/infected with a virus cliche but I finished it only to see The Exorcist revisited. Argh! Shit show.
My guilty pleasures this year were Once Upon a Time, Grimm and Vampire Diaries.
I happen to like Terra Nova, Ringer, and The Secret Circle. Sue me.
I've never watched The Office, and I don't even know what Whitney is.
This is why I've basically stopped watching network TV - they don't know what appeals to their audience, nor do they care.
I'll take USA & TNT any day. Syfy sucks for cancelling Caprica and Eureka. Seems NBC (parent network) just can't get it right for the last decade or so.
They better not cancel Dick Van Dyke.

I didn't realize that "Who Do You Think You Are" is cancelled. WTF???? I LOVED that show too! I watched it. The stories were amazing and compelling AND it was right before Grimm.
It couldn't have been that much to produce. And yet, NBC keeps "Whitney" and "America's Biggest Loser??? Honestly, these network fucks suck shit. :(

i agree, but... i want it all televised for my amusement, so... i'm not sure if that breaks my own idea of agreeing with you, because that, in itself, would be "Reality T.V.", and then i would be there watching it, and be needed to be thrown to lions... i'm so confuzzled.

I watched Finding Your Roots last night on PBS, also. It is an excellent show and I regret not finding it sooner. I think next week's episode looks interesting (even though I don't like Michelle Rodriguez).
One thing I am curious about is, how do they do a complete genealogical search if someone in the family tree was adopted and the records are sealed?
Goddamnit, why can't they let Sarah Michelle Gellar be great?!?!?!
Cut Buffy Summers a break!!!! *sobs*

I LOVE Community. I came for Annie's tits but stayed for the rest of the gang.
I tried to watch the frist ep of Whitney and it was terrible. It should be cancelled. Although I adore 2 Broke Girls.
Also, I'm glad I Hate My Teenage Daughter was cancelled, cuz, I hate J.Pressley.
i still can't believe this shit, i wasted the last 6 months of my life every Tuesday night watching Ringer, I want to RING someone's neck damnit!

The Helen Mirren Prime Suspect is one of the best crime series ever on TV.
So many of the British ones are.
_________________________
I saw 2 episodes of Sherlock on PBS last night and thought to myself, "WTH? Why haven't I been watching this show?!"
Generally speaking, British shows are better than American shows. However, I watched a few episodes of Law & Order: UK but just couldn't get into it. Maybe because the L&O series has oversaturated the market here? Or maybe I already watch too many crime dramas?
Especially since haters, who get their world view from network writers, believe the stereotype of christianity as white megachurches who abhor gays. Its not true, but ignorant prejudices are not supposed to be true, they are supposed to be easy avenues for hate.
***************
You clearly misinterpret what I'm saying. I wasn't saying that discrimination does not exist but that when it comes to satire it is somewhat justified that Christianity (the kind represented by the white megachurches)bears the brunt more than the other religious and ethnic groups.
Is anyone still sad about Eastbound and Down???
Uhh....I'm here for the gang bang??
From what I saw of the season closer, it looks like all the good writers are gone and the show is ramping up for a shark jump--and I have enjoyed it much in the past. My standards for csi type shows are shockingly low, but the show is nearing my threshold for losing interest.

IF and GG: yes, i love me some OG Prime Suspect! I tried watching the new Sherlock Holmes and i'm torn. It's good, but at a certain point, his fast talking observation of random people starts giving me a headache.
i remember a TV review a long time ago of some show/movie and it was talking about how British it was, blah blah, and then said the lead actor's name is even "wait for it....Benedict Cumberbatch!" Like a real life Dickens character.

No, I will not sit the fuck down and neither am I a troll as I was merely correcting the incorrect assumption that all religions are equal in society. Some are off-limits because they have a history of persecution and are minorities.
Oh please, when did that rule come into play? EVERYONE is always subject to anything.
Do you think African Americans receive no racial discrimination because their ancestors were once subject to slavery? That Islam is off-limits because the Catholics persecuted Muslims during the Spanish Inquisition? You didn't like what the other person said, say that. But don't act like all of society should know better than to pick on the minority because American society ALWAYS picks on the minority. When the country was young the Irish were the minority and they were picked on, we put Japanese Americans into concentration camps because we thought their minority was some sort of threat, now we want to kick Hispanics out and make them carry papers all the time (why don't we just make them wear the Hispanic-singling-out equivalent of the Star of David?), etc. It's the American way.
--------------
You clearly misinterpret what I'm saying. I wasn't saying that discrimination does not exist but that when it comes to satire it is somewhat justified that Christianity (the kind represented by the white megachurches)bears the brunt more than the other religious and ethnic groups.
Just because American society has always picked on the minority does not condone the fact that it has and still does. We have a power to identify discrimination and change that or leave it to "history" as you say. Protest against injustices against minorities. That's the only way that we will be able to undo the racist, colonial history of America.
