I didn't think Brad Pitt could ever top this picture, or this picture, or this picture, or this picture and he still hasn't, but this stunning portrait from his high school basketball days comes close. We know who was brushing his golden hair mane 100 times with a Helene Curtis brush in the locker room before every game. Brad's secret defense move was probably knocking his rivals' to the floor by flipping those luscious locks. Never mind that a Missouri public high school actually named their basketball team the "Rejects" (was the Fuck-Ups taken?) and never mind that Shiloh today can play a 14-year-old Brad Pitt in a biopic about the Rejects. The real story here is that Brad was obviously born to play the title role in The Curious Case of Ann Jillian.
And scoot a pixie dust skid mark over that picture because it is definitely Peter Pan Dude-approved!

Good idea on the tours if it's just a day. Unfortunately, pickpocketing is just fricking rife there, but just look after your dad and he'll be fine.
La Rambla has some fabulous markets you should walk around too.
Then go for a nice meal (ask the hotel) and call it a day.

PS, your hotel location is fantastic! It's near a pick up zone for a tour, too.

ESE would make an excellent D-listed mod. I've only been commenting for a short while but I've been a long time reader. I enjoy reading what Michael K writes but have also enjoyed reading some of the comments by other readers. However, there has been some threads recently that have turned really ugly and sinister. Kinda of ruins the jovial atmosphere of the D. when that happens.

I responded to an onlone ad (that someone fowarded to me) for an Internet startup that was funded by a philathropist.
I was a SAHM of a 1, 2 and 3 year old so I was very leery, esp. of an internet add. I asked them later why they chose the Internets and they said they placed the ads in the top 10 most educated cities and the weeded evert one out.
In fact, I applied without an updated resume, I just wanted to practise interviewing again and had no intention of working yet. I was asked to submit my resume and writing samples immediately. I burned the midnight hours and got them in. I got the damn job and asked to start the next week and was effing terrified. This was supposed to be practise, not the real things. So they let me work 3 afternoons a week when the kids were all napping and also every Sunday. Totally worked out.
I researched the hell out of the website and people and started. I was there from day 1 and we were getting about 500 hits a month! It was the saddest little thing and boring as hell!
Now the hits are in the MILLIONS so it's a whole different cat now. I work many more hours and became a writer with them too and a few other things.
Sorry the long answer to a very short question!

Not sure if you're still around but thanks for the info. Since I'm only spending a day there I'm going to do the bus tour to get the highlights. I'm staying at the Hotel Gaudi so it'll be easy to get around. Checking out the comments on Trip Advisor, there was lot of people who had problems with getting mugged (even some right outside their hotel lobby!!!) I'm not too worried for myself but my elderly father will be with us and he's not very street savvy anymore.
Got the results of my Pap smear back today. Negative! Just like me. :D
Now I just have to have that god damned CT Scan next week.
Also did my taxes today. Government owes me $15.96. Might blow it on two beers.

I am a professional Mod (not for the D) but ours is very professional, with a huge manual, tons of first ammendment rules etc, and we cannot engage in any bullshit or post as any kind of Alt.
It's a well known website that's huge but it's a more "serious" one. I combine this job with writing. However, my job is very detailed, I answer questions, do a ton of research, work with medical professionals and write very well researched answers to questions. I write a daily report.
A "mod" in this D listed sense (at least I think) is literally deleting posts and banning, if necessary. It's easy. Some professional Mod positions are real jobs with a lot of responsibilites and excellent AP level writing skills. You have to have a college degree. I do intervene at time with some issues and I do ban but I think that's all a Mod does here on the D.
You could always contact MK and see what positions are available. He might allow you to post as ESE and also Moderate although that is generally a big no-no for professional Mod jobs. It's simple not allowed. But since this is the D, anything is possible!!!

I was in Barcelona for 5 days two years ago. It's a good city.
I agree, do an open air bus tour, check out Gaudi, La Ramla is fun but all the Romanian beggars and pickpockets spoil it, IMO.
You can hop on and off the tours (and reconnect) later.
The Passeig de Gracia is the "Spanish Champs Elysees" and is a stunning boulevard. I rented a magnificant 3 bedroom apartment right on the boulevard which is the absolute center of town. Walk to everywhere. It was $$$$$ to stay but I split it with two others.

how does one become a mod?
i find myself to be a pretty laid back, easy going guy, that has a pretty nice and even minded sense of what is just plain fucking wrong to be posting on a gossip website... i think i would be a decent moderator for dlisted... does it pay anything?... does it have regular hours or can one just pop in and out?... does it involve booze benefits?
i'll toss my hat in the ring, if it helps to put an end to the bickering!... what?.. i got nothing else to do late nights, right?
