If you want to see Madge doing a hump version of The Grudge stair crawl, a gay-on-granny orgy, Kazaky doing what they do best and Vogue sticking its tip in Erotica, press play on her video for Girl Gone Wild. I just have to say one more thing: it's so obvious even to a five year old child, that those shots where she's supposedly defying gravity were just rotated 90 degrees to the left. She's totally crouching on the floor, not the wall! Great special effect! Not.

It's obvious to a five year old that the directors are not trying to make believe that she's able to defy gravity. They are just generating engaging visuals by arranging measured scenarios and rotating cameras, in fact all good directors achieve cool effects with simple and clever measures like this. It's about style, not realness. And a five year old might've understood this, but not you, of course.

That was like watching a hybird of beyonce, gaga, and 1988 madonna and it was all kinds of wrong.
Madge gets her due for being clever enough to survive this long, but she is anything but "profound." Her pretentions are fucking laughable. Nothing wrong with flashing your cunt around in a book designed to feed your attention-whore needs, but fucking own it and don't position yourself as some pseudo-intellectual asshole with a fake British accent.

I adore Madonna, love her profoundness of thought. She knew always the balance between interesting exposure and privacy. I wonder why the lyrics of another new song are about her marriage.
I don't mind bitches. I love Martha Stewart! Vadge disgusts me because she is stuck between 1990 and 1994. I guess her "sex" period marked her in such a way that she cannot get out of her time capsule.
I see this video (are they still called videos?), and I go back to my pre-legal drinking age! Now that is pretty sad. Vadge has to learn we are now in the 21st century. There is still art being made and dances being created, but not for her.
I think she is a good example of how you can't keep "evolving" forever (take notes Lady CooCoo) because at some point, you get lost in the shuffle. That's why Barbra Streisand does it best. She never followed fads and always stayed Babs. Babs knows what works and owned it.
I actually like it. Love the dance transition scenes. I actually thought for a second she had stolen Mark Kanemura from Lady Gaga.

The thing that always kept my attention and respect for Madonna was her crazy ability to evolve - now she's got a case of the Wayne Newtons which or her is being stuck in like 1993 forever!
I think she could still prove she can move and is sexy without rehashing the same old bullshit. I mean this is getting really sad. And this is not "hate" it's just sadness that her true expression seems to have gotten totally lost.

For someone who made a career (long ago) of ground-breaking music and videos, this shit is really old and rerun-ish. She looks incredible but she's now going the Gaga route of pandering to gays but Kylie did the gorgeous-gays-in-videos first and she did it best. Madonna is a true legend but it's a shame she couldn't evolve instead of clinging to what once was. She is seriously surrounded by yes-people.

The reason Madonna gets a lot of hate is because some people are sick of her pompous, pretentious, phony, attitude. Some people like performers that are real and are grounded in reality. If you go around boasting about how your music and videos are so groundbreaking and the latest music and videos you put out are not only things that have been done to death, but add nothing new or interesting, than you have to expect people to call you out on it. She acts like her music is so deep and artistic. It's just stupid dance music. Some of it's good, but it's just dance music.
The difference between Madonna and George Clooney is he's not out there boasting about what an "artiste" he is and putting himself out there like "Oh, look how handsome, gorgeous, and youthful I am!" He has a genuine sense of humor about himself and isn't fighting the natural aging process.
If you base most of your career on looks and sex, you're going to be harshly judged on your looks and sex appeal. That's why Madonna is judged and her age is brought up.
George also has a reputation of being a nice person. Madonna doesn't. So a lot of people don't like her because she's just not likeable.

I admire you for saying this, but I have to disagree with Shirley Manson on one point: Madonna hasn't achieved anything in her career except lowering standards even further for women than they already were and pretending like that's some kind of achievement. All that "achieved" was to set the stage for people like Lady Gaga. And the ones that come after Gaga will be even worse.
Ultimately it's not Madonna's fault that women aren't allowed to be famous unless they whore themselves out to the patriarchy, though. It's not her fault that women are judged by their youth, beauty and willingness to appease their masters and that older women are despised and ultimately cast out while old dudes in the entertainment business get to work up until they die and get their pick of hot young chicks. None of this is Madonna's fault. But her lack of talent or true originality *is* her fault, despite her admirable work ethic.
Then again I wonder how admirable is a work ethic when your work is shit. Wouldn't that be like admiring a factory for putting out so much pollution?
