Open Post: Hosted By The Dark Shadows Trailer

The original Dark Shadows was a campy, busted, terrible mess of dreckery and it was brilliant in every way. It had the production values of a Mexican porn and the actors didn't strain one ounce of their being to give a fuck. In one episode, one of the actors (I can't remember which one), read her lines off of a napkin or paper lying on the dining table. Lindsay Lohan would've killed it on that show! So I was hoping that Tim Burton would bring some of that low-budget "filmed in the back room of a supermarket" glamour to the movie. I wasted a hope for NOTHING, because that's not what he did. I'm sort of torn like a Duggar cooch over this trailer. It has some promise, but overall it looks like The Addams Family Values, the worst parts of The Royal Tenenbaums and a My Chemical Romance video had a PG-13 threesome in the clearance section of a Halloween store. On a positive note: EVA GREEN CHICHIS!

sorry in advance, guys, i have n oidea where to turn. I think i will call an agency for councelling or something (so i guess i have ONE idea, haha)/

my brother has decided that he haes me, and that i can't be trusted with my mom, and that one of us should go. after n arguemnt about this, i agreed to leave - if the two of us can't work together, even though i take the best care of her, i will leave). I started packing and getting things ready, and when i come back into the kitchen he tells me - and your son needs to find somewhere else to stay (my son has been stay with him and his girlfriend while I have been here dealing with mom, in order to keep things straight for his schooling).

So, on top of everything else he is now telling me that he is kicking my son out of his house?

I snapped. I had a little carboard box in my hand (about the size of a box of index cards, in thick cardboard) and i threw it it him, He grabbed me, pinned me to the wall, and start saying "ooh, yeah, uhh hum,...." and I just started screaming, He pinned me down to the living room table so he wastn=anding over me, and made his voice all calm and was eggin me on.."oh yeah, scream, "mimicking my scream " he is standing over me saying "You are a FREAK! A FREAK"

Of course my mom and uncle some out and see this, she is livid and in tears, he doesn't want to leave but eventually he does. Mu uncle says we are both selfinh, and when I say that this event traumatized me, when I mention that my brother knocked me down then I was 8 months pregnant he says. well that was wrong "but when I say "this is all stirring up a lot of trauma for me" he says "You are being overly dramatic."

so, no one is on my side,

so much voilence in my life and i am tired.

yes, when he told methat, on top ov everything else he was going to kick me son out of his house, i threw the firs blow. I lost it, The thought that he would put his own nephew out on the street that he was that cold blooded, - I just ceased to think. It was like he was attacking my kid right there in front of me. So maybe I asked for it. I don't know. I'm sure some of you will think I deserved to get beaten in return.

But, he won't leave me alone. He has decided that I "can't be trusted" (never mind that I was taking care of mom all by myself for a month before anyone showed up to help), and he's lied to me about it not being possible to put my name on the bank accounts when Mom has already said she wants both of us on. He wants ultimate control of everything, I see now. I just want the ability to have some oversight if things go wrong, knowing how much he hates me - I didn't realize that before.

Should I get a lawyer?

ps: sorry for confusion/typos. i am not on drugs, drunk, but am physically shaking. brother is gone now, out of town, uncle (mom's brother is here. mother doesn't remember srgument, she says, but has been depressed since it happened). uncle takes brother's side. mostly.

Alright, kids. It's a fucking gorgeous May day in March. I just fired one up. I blew off finishing a spring clean-up job 'til tomorrow since I had to take my dear mother-in-law-to the airport in the middle of the day. As the Brady's sang:
"I think I'll go for a walk outside now, the (seems like) summer sun's calling my name!"

Have a great weekend & St. Paddy's, sluts!

Oh My Lord, LMFAO!

NEVER missed DS back in the day. I remember Barnabas or someone running through a graveyard and they kept brushing up against the obviously (even to my then 9-year-old-self) cardboard grave"stones."

I had a HUGE crush on Quentin (even though his restless, grumpy spirit used to haunt some poor woman by appearing next to her bed and rocking silently, LOL) and was thrilled to see a still-hot David Selby in The Social Network a few years ago.

EDIT: Holy shit, I just looked up the original DS on IMDB--Jonathan Frid is 87 years old!!!!

Watch Camelot. You'll never go back.

Call me nuts, but I can't wait for this. I doubt the whole movie will be presented like it was in the trailer.

And Eva Green has me addicted since I watched Camelot. Why is she so underrated? Nice European breasts, by the way.

Any of you guys remember the 80's vampire movie Fright Night with Chris Sarandon?

It was one of those great funny scary movies.

I absolutely LOVE that movie. Haven't had a chance to see the new one with Colin Farrell.

The new one was fairly good. Colin Ferrell MADE the movie, though (i.e., without him it would have blown).

kacky's picture

LOL Deb, I didn't catch that one. Imma have to go see if it's on Youtube now.

@guest, there were 5 kids in our house and we weren't allowed to watch, but my parents could always tell when we had. Mass nightmare time!

I liked it when you could see cigarette smoke swirling all around when no on in the scene was smoking, or you could hear someone sneeze or see people moving scenery around in the background. I still want to move into "the old house" and fix it up.

Re: Fright Night.

It was GREAT wasn't it! I haven't seen the remake but as Anno said no need for a re-make.

I actually don't mind Colin Farrell but man the guy just seems to be box office poison for some reason. It seems most of the movies he's in have a lot of hype and then TANK.

I hear he's going to be in a remake of Total Recall I mean that just has BOMB written all over it.

HW is so bare of ideas I'm sure they're shopping around a Citizen Kane remake with Will Farrell and Gone With The Wind as a Lindsey Lohan comeback piece!

Considering HW is ran by a bunch of 30 somethings you'd think they'd have some new ideas.

Yes elementary school. Watched @ the manse with the pastor's daughter in her basement after riding bikes thru the cemetery next door & seeing her dad's glass eye in the box. :O

Whamo -- OMG, Chris Sarandon is one of the hottest vampires ever. Here's my list of hot vampires:

1. Frank Langella -- "Dracula" (1979)

2. Christopher Lee -- multiple Dracula movies

3. Chris Sarandon -- "Fright Night" (original -- 1985)

i_heart_jack -- no, hon, I never heard of that movie. Thanks for letting me know about it!

I loved Fright Night! The guy was from Herman's Head, right?

Saturday the 14th was another movie that was goofy as Hell but I watched it!

Oh MK, how little you know about the brilliance that was Dark Shadows! It was taped back in the days when you did not get a re-do. They only had the sound stages for a set amount of time each day, and they had to do each scene all the way through and accept that take, no matter what. No collagen-lipped bimbos here. Only real actors who knew how to learn their lines and how to remember their instructions. The special effects and music were state-of-the-art for that time. I love watching those early episodes. I'm just mad that they abandoned the Vicky-parentage storyline so early in the series.

*yawn* Tim Burton does the same shit to every remake. Even my ten year old knows it, "Did he ruin it making it overly goth?"

At least this one started out dark, unlike Charlie and Chocolate Factory. Ruined.

Boring. Next.

annobanano -- I've already made plans with a friend to see it. I hope it's better than that shitty "Alice in Wonderland" movie.

More "Shrekification" of a movie. Pop culture riffs, snark plus a does of adolescent humor.

I swear Johnny Depp is always looking for projects in which he can dress outlandishly, wear make-up, and act in an odd fashion.
------------------------------------
Yep. Even his character in "The Rum Diaries" was cartoonish, if SANS FARDS. But he's good at it.
Believe it or not, I just saw "Cry Baby" for the first time recently. While not my favorite John Waters film, it was damn funny and an entertaining musical at that!

At the same time, I think that Depp's 22 year filmography shows a very multifaceted actor who eases comfortably between comedy and drama. Add to that his musical abilty and people who call him a "one-trick pony" just need to rent a bunch of Johnny Depp movies.

Off pedestal. Oh and, I know I'm repeating myself. But OMG, I totally met Jonathan Fridd and got his autograph as a kid. Yay me!
