ScarJo Will Play Janet Leigh
I knew there was a good reason for not trusting that shifty My Week With Marilyn movie and this is the reason why. Variety says that director Sacha Gervasi has cast ScarJo to play Jamie Lee Curtis' mom in a movie about the making of the movie Psycho. Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho was probably inspired by My Week With Marilyn (it was) and it will also star Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock, Helen Mirren as Hitchock's wife and James D'Arcy as Anthony Perkins. Oh, and again, ScarJo is playing Janet Leigh. I had to remind you of this in case you forgot, because you stabbed yourself in the eye with a kitchen knife after reading it the first time. Don't worry about that eye. You're going to look so much hotter with an eye patch.
This mess of a movie is going to be about all the problems Hitchcock had making Psycho. I'm sure the silver lining in this for some of you is watching ScarJo slowly bleed out chocolate syrup to death in a cold shower, but I say Hollywood needs to leave Psycho alone. It's been through enough. It's still raw from getting butchered in that shitrocious remake starring God's daughter Anne Heche. Let a bitch breathe for you punch it again.
I guess movies about the making of movies is now a thing and it'll be a thing again in 50 years when a waterlogged piece of cardboard with two dough balls pasted to it plays ScarJo in a movie about the making of the making of Psycho.

Holy shit, that's perfect casting! I don't hate Scarlet, but I just can't see her as Janet Leigh and Naomi is an amazing, underrated actress.
the fuck... they just spin the casting wheel with different shades of blonde on it. after lost in translation I was like meh with her.
I am drunk, which is probably why I'm not hating this casting. It works for me.
Aside from ScarJo, the cast seems solid.
I, too, would have cast Carey Mulligan as Janet Leigh, just for acting skills and the similar looks alone.
I am not really a ScarJo hater. But I have never been bowled over by her acting.

A movie about the making of a movie?
I don't know. They should just remake Psycho itself. Even though I don't like remakes. This classic is so good, I'd pay to see it again in another form.

It's been awhile, but they did remake Psycho (the movie had Vince Vaugh and Anne Heche:

I saw it when it came to theaters. Uggh - just the same old movie. I love the original Psycho, but the remake just did not have the same magic.
LAME...NO!

This has nothing to do with this, but has anyone ever noticed how pigeon toed Scar Jo is?
So she's going to get killed halfway through the movie.
is hollywood running out of ideas that they have to do remakes all the time now?
I care more about Liz Taylor than Janet Leigh, but I honestly think Lindsay is a better actress than Scarlet. So I'm declaring this a draw for now.
ScarJo always seems like a confused deer in headlights to me, even when she's trying to be sexy, like there is literally nothing going on up in her head, so she might actually do well in playing a sorta paranoid Janet.
I'd LOVE to be a fly on the wall behind the scenes with Anthony, Mirren and Scarjo though, I bet that's gonna be GOOD...maybe MK is right, they should make a movie about the making of the making of Psycho....that's one I'd pay to see.

Sigh. If I die today, the Epitaph on my headstone would be:
It's NOT a remake of Psycho. It's about the MAKING of Psycho. May she RIFP.

ScarJo is purty to me.
I'll rent the movie.

Scarlett will have to lose a boatload of cellulite for the shower scene.
.
Any original ideas in Hollywood nowadays? Who asked for this remake, and why did someone think it was a good idea?

What about Carey Mulligan? Strange casting choice. Scar Jo has somewhat of a masculine presence, not in a bad way, but just powerful. Janet Leigh is so soft compared to her. But I guess it's in the fashion of raping the 60's that Hollywood seems to be riding with right now.

ScarJo's playing Janet Leigh? jeebus frickin' christ, talk about a bloody nightmare...
I think Meg Ryan would be good as the actress that played Anthony Perkin's mom in the movie.

On my screen these two are lined up with that poor screaming piggy ad on the right. :-(
Scarlett Johannson - meh. Never really understood why she's such a big deal.
Now Helen Mirren - that broad is fucking awesome. The Queen is one of my all time fav movies - she NAILED that part.

@Jack - That is why I am all for this, even though a movie about a movie sounds lazy, this will be more about Sir Hopkins giving it to ScarJo, while really getting it from Dame Mirren.
Excited yet?

Hmmm, bad news. It has been remade!!! But more ass-*cking than hairy hoochachas knocking. A very limp disappointment.
But again, this is not about a REMAKE of Psycho, it is about how Psycho GOT MADE (or am I reading it wrong). It is how Hitchcock mistreated his ladies on set.

Seriously? Well, fuck me sideways! I'm befuddled with disappointment.
Oh! Thank you for the intelligent and highly informative explanation as to this movie. I get it now. This is not a remake but a movie about how the movie was done.
A movie about a movie!

Capella - you are correct... "Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho"

I would like to see Larry the Cable Guy star in a Citizen Kane remake: Rosebud, git r done!
Going to play in the muck for a while...Hope things are ok with you ME. :(
Seriously Hollywood, please stop raping the classics and/or giving us "fresh" remakes. Get some new ideas or we will all look for our entertainment on the internets. These the behind the movie movies are just as bad! Another thing...leave sequels to two...fuck III or IV! I heard they are going to make another Taken, my husband said what that stupid daughter going to go to Mexico and get kidnapped again? UGH!

This makes me so sad! I love the original.

@Orangebella, if I understood this correctly, the story would be about the making of the movie, not a remake of Psycho. So the interaction between Hitchcock and his ladies. A scared ScarJo from her director would be good enough. The man-munching tiger Helen Mirren would be great though against Hopkins. That what I would pay to see interpreted on film.
Least it has Hopkins & Mirren... and Scar dies in it.
"waterlogged piece of cardboard with two dough balls pasted to it plays ScarJo" - LOL, you give her too much depth MK! :D

They lost me at ScarJo but won me with Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren. I'd put it on the Netflix queue.
Seeing Anthony Hopkins as a huge fatty could be fun.
Haa haa haa - she's going up against Helen Mirren! Oh god, she's gonna be chewed up and spat out! I feel sorry for her now...

This makes me so sad! I love the original. Hitchcock was able to make scary movies without blood and gore being shoved right into your face. Psycho seriouslyyyyy creeped me the F out. The whole, his mother was dead but he dressed up as her and that silhouette of "her" in the window was pretty smart, yet creepy. There is a South Park episode (Free Hat) where they pretty much just say that directors go back and ruin films when they are supposed to be original and untouched, like art.
