And We'll Never Hear The End Of It
Brenda Walsh and her education connections can slide over to the side for a second, because here comes self-proclaimed America's Next Top Oprah, Tyra Banks, with her diploma from Harvard University’s Executive Education Owner/President Manager Program. The Washington Post says that Harvard's Executive Education Manager Program costs around $99,000 and is only available to head bitches of companies with annual sales of at least $5 million.
After completing three three-week session cover the course of three years, Ty Ty graduated summa cum ME ME ME ME ME last week and Tweeted the above picture with the note:
Smiling ear2ear on the Harvard Business School campus w/ my diploma! Tnx 2 my fab photographer mama 4 the pic!
It's times like this when I wish bells had eyes, because somebody or something needs to read TyTy with its side-eye. Tyra is a Harvard Education Manager Program graduate and yet she doesn't know that "thanks" in textanese is THX? Didn't she learn anything from Harvard?
Condragulations to Tyra. She has earned the right to use "Well, when I was at Harvard Business School...." as much as she wants during the next season of America's Next Top Model: College Edition. And she will.

Congratulations! It's not a small thing to graduate from Harvard whoever you are. It's not all about the money, Harvard work to build a reputation. I am still hoping to have a chance for an online healthcare degree at Harvard but I need set some timing for it first.
So...she is proud about her education! Good for her! Why does everyone has to be mean about this picture? I am pretty sure when I'll complete the criminal justice masters programs and I finally get my degree I will have a similar picture, so I really can't be mean this time.

I agree, it's total bullshit when models say that, like you would really regret missing an opportunity that MADE you, paid you untold amounts, flew you around the world, and got you your circle of friends that probably includes a richass husband (you never see a model with a poor dude)- all for looking like an Olive Oil. You can go to school anytime!

I know it's total BS! It goes in line with that fake "I'm just like everybody else" BS they are always trying to push on the public. Thse genetic freaks are not like us!
The shelf life of models is short though, so once you make your dough, it wouldn't kill you to finish your degree. Becky Romaine Lettuce has plenty of time, since she is not in demand. Her own husband is getting some online law degree, so she would have company.

If that were really true, she would have gotten her degree. If she spent her money on this crap certificate, then she could have gotten her degree. Of course, I doubt Harvard would have taken her as an undergrad. It's hard to buy a spot at Harvard, at least for now. I'm sure Brown or NYU would have taken her in though.
That "regret" BS about getting a college degree is said by all models. Becky Romaine Lettuce was just in the local rag talking about how she "regrets" dropping out of UC Santa Cruz.

This subject is fresh in my mind because I just watched some crappy documentary on Sundance or IFC called "Picture Me" made by a whiney, privileged-from-birth chick who just fell into being a supermodel. She basically moans the whole way about it about how she's not going to college like her friends and such. It's like- look at statistics, MOST people do not go to college in the US, period.
It does show some fucked up things about how young girls are taken advantaged of though, and in particular shows how (mostly) eastern european women are desperate to make money and won't question the photographers and others involved in the industry. But, well as someone who has always struggled financially, it's hard to care.

I read that she did attend Loyola Marymount University for a short time, but soon dropped out to pursue modeling. She stated that she regretted dropping out of college.

Got to give Harvard props for finding a way to make money off their name. This certificate, it's not a degree, is the equivalent of going to one of those crap seminars jobs are always sending poor employees on. If Tyra really had a brain, she would have used her money to get an actual degree. Brook Shields did it.

She is a total moron if she keeps bragging about this. She paid for a certificate she didn't go to Harvard for 4 years and earn a degree. Shame on Harvard for suckering suckers.
next season's America's next top model, tyra will have another story to tell how she:
1. she used to live in paris.
2. homeless for 4 hours for the tyra show.
3. she used to live in paris.
4. wore a fat suit for a few hours for her show
5. she used to live in paris
6. was bullied at school.

14. she is a motion picture director.
15. she used to live in paris.
16. she graduated from harvard.

Dudes, dudes, dudes...your fighting over whether she is smart for having that degree is a moot point since she didnt earn that degree, she paid for it. I mean are you fucking kidding me? 99 thousand dollar tuition, three weeks worth of "courses" and a business that makes at least 5 million. If you think she earned this, consider going to school yourself and getting educated on this one.

It's ironic that Miss Tyra has issues with girls who are college-educated (Elyse Sewell and Victoria Marshman come to mind), and yet she gets a degree to boast about from some Harvard program. One can have a passion for modeling (or at least some respect for the craft) and still have a back-up plan, you know.

Also, Yaya DaCosta, who graduated from Brown and is one of the most successful of ANTM. She finished second. From the start to finish of the season, Tyra kept insinuating that Yaya's education and refinement would keep her from being a sought after model.

Getting a degree is far more than "having the time and money". It's often a really tough undertaking for many, working jobs, caring for children, paying mortgages and getting a 4 year degree via loans and side jobs. Not all of us have Mom and Dad waving us off to the Ivy Leagues with a fat check. For many, it was a long, hard slog and takes years to pay off - both financially and career wise. "

Yes ^^^^ even though a degree doesn't mean shit in my current line of work and I'm one of the few among my colleagues that has one (and still make less, harumph), I'm proud of it.
The way I see it even if it wasn't totally necessary it can still open doors and will never hurt.

She doesn't have a real Harvard degree. This "executive program" degree is for dummies with lots of money who want to tell people they went to Harvard but really didn't. Harvard only does it because it makes them tons of money.

although a degree is not required for success, it is required to not only make it in this country....but to get ahead. i worked at a morgatge company for a bit where an older woman who had been there 20 years was my subordinate and made less than me simply because she didnt have a degree....thus the reason she went back to school and got one.

TOTALLY AGREE my boyfriend's mother was just passed over for a position as charge nurse at the hospital despite having 25 years of experience and 10 at that particular hospital. The job went to a 27-year-old with 4 years of nursing experience mostly because he had a 4 year degree and my boyfriend's mom only had a 2 year degree (which was what most nurses who graduated 25 years ago have)
It is not a degree - there is no passing you pay 100K go to three weeks of courses and they give you a "certificate" Its like when my work makes me to go training - I go the first two days find a hot piece to hook up with and use up my "per diem" go back to class on friday to get my "certificate" that I took the training.
I wonder if she will use bigger words now that she is edumacated....INTOXIBELLAS!!!!

My mum and I discussed the possibility of us both whoring, that is how desperate it is (neither of us are at our peak and we'll be lucky to get £50 between us but least we considered it).
I just find the money that exchanged hands here, for something so worthless in the real world, horrifying. Why O Why is Tyra in that 1%!?

A college degree doesn't necessarily mean you're smarter or better than anybody else it just means you had the money and the time to get it done...what about all those self-made millionaires or people that are able to manage very successful bisnesses without having a degree??? you can't figure out life by sitting on a desk and carrying around a notebook.....but if its a goal that you have set up for yourself and acomplished it then great for you!

you look at some of the masters of uneducated success(jobs and gates for example) and u see that although they didnt get degrees, they were competant to the point that an education wouldnt benefit them as they had already eceled past what college could offer. if youre a computer genuis, u dnt need college...if youre not, u do!

so those scam colleges you guys are talking about I did it, still paying off the loan and my credits are worth NADA!!
in my defense I came back to the US when I was 17 and didnt know how the colleges here worked.
Now I am 31 going back to school, paying off a garbage loan and cant get a decent job because they want a bachelors degree to let you fry shit at McDonalds, even the job I have now I almost didnt get, because of the Bachelors because its a govt job, now that I have been sexaully harassed at work and I am trying to get another job, I cant because of the bachelors degree issue, even though I do the work of 3 people and get paid less than everyone else in the whole project (I deal with the invoices) one of the things I do alone in another job pays $15 more an hour. So there is my freaking sob story of this year, I just keep saying "I need money" over and over again.
I will try to get into the deans list I was pretty good at school without trying.
