Honestly, if it helps...I had a brother with a huge ongoing problem. He seriously had to hit rock bottom (to the point my mom told the rest of us to cut him off. Not give a place to stay, not provide money etc. Just not talk to him) He pulled it together after going to one of those free rehabs (and working there for a year) and put himself through school. Now he's doing great.
He cleaned up when he was close to 40. Did the rest on his own. It's never too late for anyone. Have faith and make sure he knows how proud you are of him to have made that decision.
The girlfriend? WORTHLESS. What a bitch. She could have gotten him killed.
I'm just glad you heard back in some way and you and your momma can have a good Thanksgiving without worrying about where he is and what he's doing. His road to recovery is going to be a haul but it sounds like he has some good shoes and has no problem walking it.
