Open Post: Hosted By Darren Aronofsky's Anti-Meth PSAs
If Aaron Carter's face and Lindsay Lohan's old teeth haven't convinced you to skip your daily meth break today, here's a couple of anti-meth PSAs (the rest are here) created by the director of Black Swan, The Wrestler and Pi. If anybody knows how to scare a bitch off the pipe, it's Darren.
As terrifying as some of these are, The Meth Project should've saved a little dough and just aired the original and most effective anti-drug PSA by Darren: the ass-to-ass scene from Requiem for a Dream. Uncle Hank's sweaty sex party face still fuels my nightmares.

Did anyone else watch Jay Leno tonight? Kelsey Grammer was on there acting like a sentimental fool discussing his meeting and first date with his now-wife Kayte. He realizes he was married to Camille at the time, right? I only caught part of the interview, but he didn't seem the least bit repentant. The hell? I can't stand Camille, but I would be absolutely fucking livid if I had to listen to my ex talk excitedly about meeting his new whore on national television. And does he even think about his kids having to hear that?

We're a densely populated country with a lot of traffic. I'm a mother of an 8 year-old who has to bike to highschool in a couple of years. Do you understand my frustration?
Mickey, I believe I understand. As the aunt of an 18-year-old who was convicted of manslaughter in the alcohol-related traffic accident that killed her boyfriend - who was 23 and who purchased the alcohol - I certainly understand how age restriction laws are bypassed, and how tragic the results can be.
However, I don't think marijuana is worse than alcohol. The U.S. tried to criminalize alcohol, and what it led to was some major profiteering and not any sort of lessening of alcohol consumption. I drink, I'd like to think responsibly. I think a shitload of pot smokers smoke responsibly. I don't see the logic in keeping marijuana illegal in the U.S.

Is pot legal to purchase at any age in the Netherlands? If so, age restriction might help with the school issues.
I don't really know about the legalities here in the U.S., but I think field sobriety tests are used to determine if drivers are under the influence of drugs (or pot) in addition to alcohol.

Hi Bjork, great link. As you know, marijuana is available in Dutch coffee shops nation wide. From what I've read, many Americans would love to have soft drugs legalized. They know not what they wish for. If you pass a local highschool here, the sent of weed is everywhere. The same goes for train stations and bus stops. Teachers complain about students being doped up during school hours. Our brilliant government is only now thinking of ways to prevent potheads from getting behind the wheel. The US is therefore best advised to keep this genie in the lamp.
