Hot Slut Of The Day!

Karyn White, the late 80s and early 90s chanteuse who gave us “Secret Rendezvous” and “Superwoman.”

One of Karyn’s songs from her second album “Ritual of Love” came up on my iTunes yesterday and when I clicked over to look at the artwork I was thrown into a time machine and taken back. That album cover is pretty much the epitome of the early 90s. If there was an official necklace of 1991, it would be a long string of fake pearls from Charlotte Russe or Judy’s. If there was an official outfit of 1991, it would be the black bodysuit (with the snap crotch and padded bra) from Contempo. If there was an official piece of furniture of 1991, it would be the side chair. Almost every talent show and dance team performance I went to had a damn chair in it. And at some point, a girl had to straddle the chair and then push it to the floor all dramatic-like. They dragged the chair across the stage, stood on the chair, etc… etc… Anything you could do with a chair during a song, they did it! “Yeah, I’m going to need a chair” was probably the number one line heard by talent show coordinators in the 90s. It was like Dancing with the Fucking Chairs. So yeah, this cover of Karyn’s album sums it all up for me.

Wikipedia says Karyn retired from music and is now a married mother in California where she works as a real estate agent/interior designer. Interior designer, of course. Karyn is still working with CHAIRS!
