Is Stealyoncé At It Again?
Beyonce's (I'm too lazy to put a fancy accent on that e and bitch is from Houston!) video for "Countdown" is obviously made of equal parts Funny Face, Flashdance, a Gap commercial and a bunch of other things she watched while she heaved the morning sicks into a diamond-encrusted barf bin on her platinum throne bed. But somebody has put together this comparison video that I am presenting to the court as EXHIBIT A! The video is accusing Beyonce of copy and pasting the work of Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and there's some shots that are almost identical.
This isn't the first time that Beyonce has been accused of sending Basement Baby to lift some shit in the middle of the night. When she was accused of Xerox copying the performance of an Italian pop star for her Billboard Music Awards performance, she said that she hired the same guy to do it and so it wasn't stealing.
But the evidence this time is obviously there. Lady Copy + Paste must've taught Stealyonce everything she knows. Charge her with felony grand theft, throw a Cell Block of Dereon jumpsuit on her body, plop a wig from the commissary on her head and lock her up! But mostly I'm just saying that because I really want the unborn golden child of music to be a prison baby.

Beyaki always steals and her stans always make up excuses. Now when she releases a new video people immediately start looking for who she stole the idea from. Beyawnce lives on the internet and youtube. She reads everything about herself, all the shit people talk about her and is always on youtube looking up old videos to steal. How fucking hard is it to make an original video? Don't compare her to anyone else because NO ONE steals ideas as much and as blatantly as she does-then lies about it.
I'm with vegaschick: out of the spotlight B, basta.
The fact that she didn't even bother to change the set suggests she doesn't think it's plagiarism. Just like a whole generation or two of college students who rip Wikipedia articles and think they've written an essay. She deserves all the ridicule for this.
Well done slutleena!

I'm not going to rag on Beyonce simply because people in music are always stealing songs and taking credit. It's not like she's the only one.
I'm just tired of her. Beyonce's music sounds like the same song has been recylced for the last five years. She just puts stuff out to collect a check. I don't think I'd call her an artist.

Reminds me of jlo's glad video which was obviously an homage to flashdance. I see the same thing with beyonce's video.
++++++++++++++++++++++++
It's not the same thing.
1. A lot of people have seen Flash Dance. The majority of people who watched the vid when it came out and were over the age of 20 knew what it was from. Even people who hadn't watched the movie knew what it was from. Flash Dance is a major part of American pop culture.
Most Americans (or people around the world) have never heard of the maker of the video Beyonce took from. Most had never seen the video. No one would have had a way of knowing unless Bey told them or someone who happened to see both mentioned it. It took a Dutch blog bringing it up for the world to find out.
2. JLo shot a behind the scenes video and was also on shows like Entertainment Tonight and she directly mentioned Flash Dance as being her favorite movie growing up and what drove her to dancing. The recreation was intentional and JLo never hid that fact.
There's an article that came out that said that Beyonce and the director and or choreographer saw some vids on youtube and took "inspiration" from them. Beyonce and her people never mentioned who or what from. Inspiration is different than completely remaking something frame by frame.
3. JLo hired some of the actors from Flash Dance. The old man and 20 something guy sitting in the bar; at least 1 of the judges at the end were in the original movie. The original choreographer was given direct credit for the video. Sony who JLo was signed under authorized her use of it.
As far as we know now no one involved in the original film was contacted by Beyonces people for help, consultation, heads up, or permission. None of the dancers or choreographers were involved in Bey's video.
Listen I don't even like JLo. I think she's a talentless, vapid, celebrity leech but you can't compare JLo's video to Beyonce.
Sincerely,
Alana Smithee
hate her! lol well shes such a COPY-CAT she is probably one of the dumbest person on earth. she also cant even talk right in interviews that's why she hardly does them and if she does she always has her mommy or her husband there to talk for her. doesn't even know how to answer question without saying something dumb or that doesn't even make sense. #known fact

LOLOL Why not make a comparison video of her copying Funny Face Fame and Flashdance? You silly nillys that's the purpose of the video. A countdown through the years of greatness leading us to theee greatest BEYONCE :-D you queens WILL cope... you have no choice. Sorry.
And Michael, the messiah will be born in a golden room surrounded by arrogance sunshine money and glitter. :-D let's all hold hands and pretend Beyonce is not the greatest performer alive.. like Simon Cowell and LA Reid gushed to Extra.

Simmah down now....Lady CaCa is way worse about the stealin'. Bey Bey at least appears to steal from multiple sources and not just one or two.
This is not cool. Being "inspired" by something doesn't mean you directly copy if. It means you see something, like it and put your own twist or style in it. In any art medium copying is huge NO. People work very hard to refine their work and ideas. For someone to just waltz in and take credit for the hard work and innovation of another artist is really, really low.
Did she learn nothing from being in Dreamgirls?

Madonna and Beyonce are one of the biggest showbiz thieves.
Please take a break now.
Beyondstupid knows she's stealing. Whatever. She's about as original as the LV bags sold from the trunk of a '97 Toyota Corolla.
And your voice SUCKS, Beybey.
Ugh. Just saw her on Access Hollywood, and she said that the classiest way to announce her pregnancy was to show it at the VMA's. So, let's get this straight. She thought that it was classy to purposely upstage the two artists who were being given tributes that night, one of whom passed away?
Ok.
She is one of those people who make me angry at the sight of their face. Nicki Minaj is the other one.

I don't know if I'm making sense. I love Beyonce but I'm tired of her. Ever since she announced she was pregnant with that masonry spawn, I just can't take looking at her every day. Let this be the last of videos, promotions, and idea stealing for a good while please.

I think people are missing the real issue here. Yea nothing now is original blah blah. BUT! There is a difference between being inspired and being just a lazy thief and you can see examples of both in this vid. The parts where the woman is dancing in the black top or the man dancing rolling on the ground; compared to beyonce dancing in the leotard are not 100% the same. If I saw the clips separately I could see the inspiration but I wouldn't call it stealing.
The scene with the woman in the window pane is 100% completely stolen. There is nothing new here. This is not inspiration. This is stealing probably several artists work. The set design, camera work, post production tech, choreography, wardrobe all stolen. Someones sweat equity and mental prowess used without even a nod to their hard work.
I'm just tired of hearing Stans say "oh inspiration everybody does it". This is not inspiration and homages are not a secret. You can't pay homage to someone without letting your viewers know who you're honoring especially if you know your Stans have no idea who the work is from. As far as I'm concerned Beyonce is a talented singer/dancer but she's a scab as far as artistry is concerned and that includes her song writing/fashion design stealing.
***I'm sorry that's long but I had to get that off my chest. Just got through reading a Bey Stan orgie on ONTD that I couldn't comment on.
Sincerely,

this chicklet tooth pig mouth project bitch is at it again. and why is it that no matter how hard she tries she always comes off as vulgar common and offensive? i mean, she just has no class no matter what she does or how hard she tries. its sad.

@ bambam:
Which is exactly why I said "Sorta". Twice.
I remember Prince had a lyric in one of his songs where he sang "Jamie Starr's a thief." Jamie Starr was one of Prince's aliases. Just this year I was listening to some old 70's jazz fusion group on Youtube.
One song I hadn't heard in years suddenly jogged something in my brain and I looked up "Jungle Love" by the Time, written by Prince. Sure enough, parts of that jazz fusion song and Jungle Love sounded nearly the same.
Sasha Fierce's a thief too.

Beyonce's head on another person's body through most of the video, especially where she is shot head-on (don't go there).
Same technology as Weird Al's Lady Gaga parody.
I'll say it again: I would make sweet, sweet love to Weird Al and have his babies. He just fucking does it for me, I can't explain it.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion but you really ought to think about backing off some of your statements to validate what you say. The 50's and 60's had countless examples of artists stealing from other artists, some music that became huge hits simply because the copying artist was more acceptable to mainstream tastes.
It's always been that way, it's just that now access to worldwide media outlets makes it harder for theiving artists to get away with it.
@the hot chick:
thank god continue to put that idiot in their place and make them stay there. beyonce is a thief and a liar and that's all there is to it. and yes all pop stars copy to some degree but she does it more than anyone else. i mean in EVERY ONE OF HER VIDEOS YOU CAN SEE WHERE SHE BLATANTLY STOLE FROM SOMEONE I MEAN HOW MANY FRIGGIN BRAIN CELLS DO YOU NEED TO HAVE TO SEE THIS?

Honestly, 99% of the artists these days aren't original...Not to mention no matter what someone does, another person would have done it already days/months/years before. No one is unique anymore...We don't know what goes on behind the scenes...but if she is in fact deliberately stealing, then she's doing it better than most other musician....It’s an artist steals from artist world.
You seemed determined to make excuses for this bland bitch, and it's sad.
Murders have happened since the beginning of the world, but when a murderer gets caught, they don't get to say, "Oh, other people have already done the same thing, so it's okay."
Theft has happened since the beginning of the world, but when a thief is caught they don't get to say, "theft has always occurred, so it's okay that I did it."
There's no excuse for copyright infringement (which is also quite old). It is illegal and inappropriate. So throwing Fergie and the BEPs out there doesn't make beyonce's thieving okay.
And while there may be nothing new under the sun, civilized, intelligent people are still able to recognize the difference between inspiration and copyright infringement/plagiarism. That there is a difference is why these different terms exist.
Beyonce is a thief. If you're really not a stan you should be able to recognize that. Stop playing the apologist.
PS: saying that she's trained to be a liar is to suggest that she isn't responsible for either the copyright infringement or the lying. She's responsible for both.
She's an adult. That makes her responsible for her career and for the words that come out of her mouth.

Honestly, 99% of the artists these days aren't original. They're pretty much trained to say "Oh, I so invented this and that" to seems appealing to the audience (and successfully fool ignorant fans that don't know most of the music history). Not to mention no matter what someone does, another person would have done it already days/months/years before. No one is unique anymore. I have yet to see an artist do something that I haven't come across already.
We don't know what goes on behind the scenes. Personally, I can't stand Beyoncé and really can't stand her music, but if she is in fact deliberately stealing, then she's doing it better than most other musician. Yes, I'm looking at you Fergie and Black Eyed Peas. It’s an artist steals from artist world. They actually began doing all this way back when MTV became popular. :P
At least in the 50’s/60’s music was sorta safe. Sorta.

She steals outfits and entire looks from other people too. I remember a costume she stole from one of Kylie Minogue's concerts from a few years back. There is absolutely nothing original about Beyonce and whether or not you think she has talent, she is a completely manufactured pop star.
-----------------------------------------------
Funnily enough, Lady Gaga stole the same costume for her Paparazzi video. It was the gold armor swimsuit thing wasn't it?
I have to give it to Beyonce, she is always predictable.

Quite honestly, there hasn't been anything original in R&B/Pop in FOREVAH and it's all crap and so what if they steal from one another? If someone wants to steal a turd from my potty, they are welcome to it.
Other people stealing in the industry doesn't make it ok for her or any one individual to do it. All the thieves are WRONG. And the choreographer ripped off isn't in r&b/pop. Nor are a lot of the people bey steals from. She's an international, equal opportunity thief.
Submitted by Saix on Fri, 10/07/2011 - 6:29pm.
It's not Beyoncé. It's the people she works with. I doubt B goes on Google to look up things she can steal/copy/rip-off.
I'm not down with denying bey responsibility for the thefts.
1) She's always bragging about how she comes up with the ideas for her projects, and is the creative force behind every aspect of everything she does. If she's going to brag that these are her original ideas, blame can't be laid off on her "people" when thefts occur.
2) Beyonce also brags that she's in complete control of her career/that she's the boss. If she's the one in charge, then she is responsible for the actions of her employees (this is also the law). So, even if I could buy that she lets others come up with ideas, and lies about her creative input, she's still responsible as the employer. IF SHE DIDN'T KNOW, IT WAS HER GODDAMN JOB TO KNOW!

I remember watching her behind the scenes special for the MTV awards. She talks about going to watch a show to get some ideas for her performance. Then she point blank says, well we'll go meet everybody after the show and say great show and then STEAL it from them. That's when I knew Beyonce knows exactly what she is doing. Its on Youtube if you want to check it out.
