Steve Jobs Has Passed Away
Steve Jobs, one of the visionary creative geniuses who created the laptop that allows me to type the word "peen" all day on the internet, has gone off to iHeaven today at the young age of 56. Apple, the company that Steve co-founded, released this statement on their website:
"Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple."
Steve stepped down as CEO of Apple earlier this year to continue his battle against pancreatic cancer, which he was diagnosed with in 2004. Steve's family said that he died peacefully while surrounded by those he loved.
Rest in peace, Steve. Thank you for making it easier (and more fun and more interesting) for us to do everything. I would pour a 40 on my MacBook, but I sort of need it to publish this post. iSad.

RIP Steve Jobs. Thank you, Michael K for such a great post.
.....
Holy Mac! (pun intended?!)
I miss everything when I don't come here! To be fair, I was very distracted by a political race here becuz we lost one of our great leaders in the running to cancer as well.
Damn you cancer.
RIP, Steve (That part's JUST for Gaza - Mr. Jobs always struck me as the type of guy that can get at peace any time he wants:)

Steve was hot and said by more than one source to be 'of the persuasia'.
Are there nude photos?
I'm seeing a Steve Jobs bio starring Ashton Kutcher here.

BRING BACK the old, glamorous Hollywood!!!
To those saying that Steve Jobs stole ideas from Xerox I say this. Get your facts straight. Apple paid Xerox $1000000 in shares for the right to go on a guided ideas tour of Xerox. That's why Xerox never sued Apple. They were paid already. Even then it took years before Apple had turned these basic concepts in a working OS. So don't try to pass lies of as fact. Xerox got it many and Apple got these ideas. But the work on how to make the ideas work was yet to be done and was done by Apple. These are facts. Check them out.

Please, guys. Jobs FLAT OUT STOLE what Apple would use as its GUI from Xerox. He STOLE technology and ideas for that technology throughout his entire career. He was good at marketing, brainwashing, packaging, risk-taking, targeting, sensationalizing, etc...I'm not saying he didn't contribute to the tech world..but people are so blinded by the "magic" they can't put what Jobs did for Apple into context. Many have bought into the image and perception of what Apple is supposed to mean to the world hook, line, and sinker. I guess that's his greatest legacy.

fucking THIS^
And M.E., that's actually a great movie. My boyfriend is a nerd in the tech industry and turned me onto that film. I loved it! Woz's character was hilarious and both AMH and NW did a fantastic job. Enjoy.
LuLa Lou... THANK YOU for letting me know! I had always been curious but never looked it up. My name is Lisa and way back in the day I cut out an ad for the Lisa computer and kept it in my files till I moved and lost it. The Apple I thought may have come from Adam and Eve and the apple but I see I am wrong!

Thing is, Jobs didn't really create the flagship Apple products. It was Wozniak and numerous other engineers who made it all happen. Without them Steve Jobs would have had nothing TO sell. Was Jobs an excellent marketing guru and an efficient CEO? By today's standards: Yes. Let's not overdo it though. I really can't stand inane fanboyism of any sort...
In response to LisaRose's comments: "Does anyone know why the name APPLE? Anyone remember the LISA computer and know why it was called that??"
It has been written that apples were Jobs' favorite fruit, and that it was also a play on words with regard to computer "bytes." And the Lisa computer was named after his daughter who was born the same year, though publicly it was called an acronym for "Local Integrated Software Architecture."
AllI freaking know is that I used to think it was complete crap and snobbery about Apple products until I got iphone and they are so user friendly and easy!
I learned more in 6 months of having a mac lap top than I did in 15 years of using PC....you go into an Apple store and there are 90 year olds in there having a one to one lesson with one of the apple geeks-thats awesome!
Contrast it with what happens when you buy a PC-your on your own thats what...with Mac you pay $100 for a whole year and go as many times as you like for training-thats the genius of Apple and thats what keeps people loyal to the brand aside from the fact that the design is beautiful and they are fucking so user friendly...
I love my MAC AIR so much,Im thinking of divorcing my husband and getting married to it!
One final thing on Steve Jobs-he was a mercurial, weird, secretive character
but you dont build a company like Apple by being one of the crowd.....
"NOSOPD -Not our sort of person darling"
No Words introduced me to a movie made in 1999 anout Jobs and Bill gates, that I've never seen.
I'm definetly going to check it out.
Anthony Michael Hall and Noah Wyle.
"Pirates of Silicon Valley"
Does anyone know why the name APPLE? Anyone remember the LISA computer and know why it was called that?? Steve really does look like Ashton here.

Like I said before: I doubt that he created anything and I don't think that my life will be influenced by stuff Apple invented as I'm living with similar products. Everything Apple has, has been invented before or is a funny but otherwise useless tool. It may be that I don't know enough about Apple-stuff but I just don't see how my life would be changed because someone is using an Ipod/Mac whatever. I doubt that anything of it will be used elsewhere than in Apple products. I'm completely fine with all people selling themselves to one company and being sad because their founder died, but to me it's offending if anyone compares someone who was good at marketing with the greatest genius ever, Leonardo Da Vinci, that makes me fucking angry.
The styling of Jobs in this photo is reminiscent of Asston Kutcher until you note the intelligent eyes. A world of difference between the two.
RIP, Mr. Jobs. What a businessman.
He looks fine as fuck in this picture. No wonder everything he designed looked gorgeous!
Im just so sad. RIP Mr.Jobs.
I already said my peace about Steve Jobs elsewhere, but I feel obliged to comment here too. Rest in peace, hope you are in a better place now... Thanks for all you've done, including giving the crazies another outlet for their fuckery!

@ Jam-yes i see what you mean he does look a little like Ashton there. and i think Ashton is a total babe looks wise. make of that what you will ;D
Whether Apple is around in a hundred years or not, I am sure of one thing- Steve Jobs the legend will be around for many hundreds of years, longer than any machine or gadget or movie or song he could have envisioned or any company he could have started.
On a personal note all I can say is thanks Steve for being a personal inspiration to one man who has looked countless times into the apex of the universe and wondered- ‘who are you, what are you, and who will you become?’
Steve you will always be a hawt bixch in my books, and you too Michael K.

RIP Steve.
I think he looks like Ashton Kutcher? spelling? Can't be bothered to look it up.
It's sad that he's no longer among the living, but at least now he's at peace. Cancer is no longer eating him alive, nor is his family struggling with watching him wither away.
Thank you for your ideas Mr. Jobs. R. I. P.
I guess some people here consider themselves "experts" on how to properly grieve in public. (Because the internet is known for being a place of restraint and decorum.)
I lost my mother, grandpa, grandma, and an uncle in a VERY short span to similar cancers. Yes, losing family is not the same as the death of a man I've never fucking met in my life, but I'm sure as hell not going to dictate how other people should react to his death.

Definitely understand your point, but it saddens me that so many folks don't realize how much the modern technology age owes to him. I am not Apple-obsessed, but I can recognize great things. And I can't help but thinking, every time I look at my glossy Android phone, "Steve Jobs did that." He created, others copied. The great "platform debate" will never go away, but the man was an invaluable part of shaping how we live today.

I have not one Apple item and I live well without it. As far as I heard he didn't develop the stuff himself, he was just clever buying or stealing it from others and selling it.
Doesn't mean I think he deserves to be dead, but I just can't stand the euphoria surrounding his person and death.

Whether you are a Mac person or not, Jobs' passing is a loss for everyone.

Sorry, I'm completely annoyed today, take that as the base I'm acting upon to. I'm not familiar with Edison, and maybe I got the reference wrong, I was just that annoyed that people seriously compare Jobs to Da Vinci or others of that league, guess I underestimated the fanbase and today is no good day to be confronted with them, otherwise I would just shake it off

Peace man! LOL I didn't mean it as a personal attack by the way. I know what you're say and I actually agree with your point 100%.
As well, people's public mourning can be embarrassing as hell at times. Some go so far over the top you just have to shake your head!

THIS. I don`t give a fuck how close you are with your boss, to compare that shit to the death of a parent is pathetic and attention-whoring. If that`s a word.

It's just when I hear him being compared to Thomas Edison
============================
Edison was a thief and an all around POF human being that was credited for a hell of a lot more than he deserved, he stole or bought others patents or work and put his name on it. If someone had a new idea he was powerful enough to stomp on them and then take the credit for their inventions often of which he did absolutely no work on.
Sorry for the rant, I just HATE when history perpetuates BS even after they know it's BS.

It's just when I hear him being compared to Thomas Edison, I get annoyed. My annoyance isn't with him; it's with the ignorant masses.

Thank you, I was about to run amok as today people have the tendency to not only get on my nerves but to rip them out. I was just told that Jobs was the new Leonardo Da Vinci. And the general annoyance today is about everything, not only Jobs. I need to find someone I can annoy with all of what's annoying me today - otherwise I'll explode.

rest in peace steve jobs...i work with cancer patients, so i see everyday how devastating cancer can be...
on another note, itunes is upsetting me by not backing up my shyt to my external HD...maybe this happened because i should have been having a moment of silence once jobs death was announced instead of slapping at my computer....

I have so much empathy for all of you who've lost a loved one due to cancer. My Great grandma died of intestinal cancer 31 years ago, it will actually be 31 years next week. She raised me until the disease ravaged her body, she was a jolly, beautiful grand-mère, a brown eyed, full figured woman, always with a kerchief around her head. She was died a week after my 8th birthday, her body so devoured by cancer that toward the end, my 5'foot, 100 lb Mother was able to carry, bathe and dress her. Much to the chagrin of my always proud and self-sufficient Grandma (She was my Great Grandmother, but I refer to her as "Grandma" because I have always called my Grandmother "Mamma").
I can't really remember her face but I'll never forget how much she loved me, how she'd walk me to and from school and the shame I will forever carry over the ONE time I lied to her. Cancer is foul in every sense of the word, I saw how it literally ate away at her, and how much it pained her to see her children, grandchildren and her two great-grandchildren grieve for her. This on top of the physical pain she endured. She lived through 2 world wars, the great depression, the death of her husband, the death of one of her sons, yet she was the embodiment of decorum, faith, character and everything that is good in this world. My grandma Remy's legacy is as great to me, as Steve Jobs' is to the world.
RIP Steve.

sigh....
I'm already tired of hearing about this. Plus the moron news casters (and seemingly everyone else) are making it sound like he single handedly invented desktop computers, laptops, mp3 players and tablet computers. These were things that already existed. The whole Mac craze has always got on my nerves. I feel like his genius was getting a bunch of sheep to pay 3x's more than they need to for something, just to feel like they belong to the cool club.

Im with you 100%. I never understood why Apple gear was considered 'intuitive' or easy to use. If windows was really that hard for you, then the problem is clearly with you.
I also hate Apple design. White and boring, its like a THX 1138 in computer form.
God bless. RIP. Thank you for the wonderful technology.
Its sad, as any early death is, and it is a horrible disease, but as someone immune to Apples charms I'll just get on with my day.
For me Bill Gates is much more important, he was the one who REALLY changed the world and really brought computers to the masses. Like windows or not its infinitely more important that anything Apple make. Lets not forget the Gates Foundation either or the 'Giving Pledge', of which jobs wasn't a member. Apple is certainly no less 'evil' than Microsoft, these days, if anything, its far more. I'd morn Gates, but Jobs, not really.
