Amy Winehouse's Final Time On Stage
A few of you sent this in so I figured that maybe a few of you want to see it. But I promise I won't follow it with posts about Amy Winehouse's last ice pop or Amy Winehouse's last lit fag or Amy Winehoue's last etc.... I'm saving that for my tribute Tumblr page.
On Wednesday night, Amy's goddaughter/protege Dionne Bromfield performed at the iTunes Festival and she took the stage with her. She refused to yodel into the mic, so she just danced on stage for a bit. It's pretty much the same awkward clap dance my abuelita does on the pavement dance floor at a backyard party when an old Menudo song comes up and she doesn't know how to adjust her moves accordingly. Totally like that.

Too bad her body of work was so small. She seemed to have real talent in a field that could use it. Too bad drugs sidetracked her. Addiction sucks whether or not you enjoyed her trainwreck fuckery.
If she was trying to stay clean she should have had someone stay with her round the clock. So many people have died when the stay clean for a bit and then think they can jump right back in and use the same amount. Very sad story.

Lately she even looked like she could keep going on a good sober streak. Ah well.
Wonder if that Blake character will feel a tad remorseful at the least, though I doubt it, considering he's one shady motherfucker.

Hell, no he won't feel any remorse or sorrow as he sits in prison for armed robbery. Shady motherucker is an understatement! Blake didn't murder her or force her to do drugs, but he seemed to enjoy degrading her.

Normally, I could care less when someone ODs, but in this case, it quite sad as she did have an enormous creative talent that was held back by drug addiction.
I would echo a couple posts down. River Phoenix's death hit me hard long ago, as well as Kurt Cobain and Michael Hutchence. I still miss their unique presence in a world that too often accepts and celebrates dreck.
Amy Winehouse isn't one of my favorite singers, but she is on my iPod and I would listen to her from time to time. It is a sad story to read today.
I guess now I can move Courtney Love's name to position Number 1.
I was very hurt when River Pheonix died and then a year later Kurt Cobain died. I remember when Michael Hutchence died. These stupid deaths still hurt. Yours will hurt all the time too Amy.

The owner of a restaurant she used to visit said she went there last week and refused to drink. She looked healthier some weeks ago, she was really trying to get it together, but slipped again, tragically.
May she find the peace she didn't have in this world.
Amy looks like she'd gained some weight, she looks aware of what's going on, and she seems to be happily supporting Dionne. Maybe she has started to turn it around, but the toll taken on her body by the drugs was just too great.
Amy looks good and isn't moving like a zombie!

probably only my imagination, but there is a moment near the beginning of the song where Amy seems to clutch her chest, it is a very brief moment, but it looked like a moment of discomfort. How she was able to tolerate the abuse she leveled at herself continually is beyond most of us. Did her heart finally complain? Well, she will be a legend now, no more someone to laugh about. She had the talent..no one can ever take that away.
And Pete Doherty still walks the earth.

It seemed as if she really cared for her Goddaughter.
Seems as if she didn't want to steal the spotlight from her performance but dancing to get the crowd into Dionne's performance. I think she was showing support which is why she didn't sing.
I read that afterwards she was encouraging the crowd to support and buy her Goddaughter's music. That seems to be a unselfish act.
Still I'm very sadden hearing about her death. I honestly wish the best for people that struggle with addictions and hope they can beat it. I really pulled for Amy and think this held her back from being more successful.
Feel sad for her parents. They seemed to really love her and tried to help.
This is vey sad. She did seem like a very sweet person underneath. But It was her choice. The only person with her at her death was her.
There was a time in her life that she wasn't addicted. She chose her drug of choice. Drugs that get to your brain and every fiber of your being. It could've been food or sex, but she chose hardcore drugs. She had many chances to get clean, but didn't know how and chose the wrong people to keep around her, and she in denial of having a deadly problem.
I understand the sentiment people have, good and bad. Being someone with drug addicted relatives, I know that there's a feeling of anger, frustration, and relief when they finally die. That doesn't mean there isn't loss and sadness there as well. At least the deterioration is over and the anticipation of tragic news is over with. The rollercoaster comes to a stop and you grieve the great person they were and could've been.
At any rate, at least she did find time to make her mark on the world with her talents and gave us some great songs to remember her by. I laughed at the trash, talking about her, laughed at the outrageous behaviour she showed while under the influence, yet I still was rooting for her to make a comeback, get clean for good, give her remorseful interviews, and write her best selling autobiography. It's a shame she didn't have enough time to do all that.
And Paris Hilton still walks the earth.

For all those saying she chose this, you clearly have no idea what addiction entails.

Sadly, when Dionne Bromfield puts the mic in front of Amy Winehouse's face in a pathetic attempt to get her to sing it reminds me of the scene in the first "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" when they give the demented, decrepit old man in the wheelchair a hammer so that he can kill the girl put it just keeps sliding out of his hand and hitting the girl on the head kind of by accident.
The first picture I ever saw of her was here on Dlisted. What a sad, sad end to a really remarkable talent.
