The key to unholstering a gun safely is to keep the finger off the trigger. He clearly had the safety off and the gun cocked, and the trigger pull on semi-automatics is very light when cocked.
Trigger pull on a revolver is much stiffer, unless one pulls the hammer back to cock it--giving all sorts of dramatic moments in movies where the gun holder pulls back the hammer to show he really means business.

hmmm..then maybe it's not as common as the media try to make it look like then(?).. i was watching this CCTV video the other day..2 skater boys were fooling around on an suburbia street, out of nowhere this guy starts yelling at them to get off his property and after a fight, he ends up shooting them at the end(video is called "Crazy man shoots kids for skating",people say it's fake but it could become real)..having a gun in your house and bad timing+physiological tension almost always ends up in a fucking disaster,I wouldn't feel at ease having a gun in my apartment,you never know when someone may make you loose your head just for that one darn second,
