Peter Falk Has Passed Away
Lower your wrinkled ass trench coat at half-mast today, because Peter Falk is now in heaven, tucking the angels into bed with the story of The Princess Bride. The Associated Press reports that Columbo peacefully died then woke back up and said "Just one more thing..." before dying again at his home in Beverly Hills, CA last night. Peter was 83 years old.
Peter had been suffering from Alzheimer's for a few years. Peter's rep said that he's survived by his wife of 38 years and two daughters from a previous marriage.
Rest in peace, Peter. Thank you for Columbo, The Princess Bride, Pocketful of Miracles, The Great Race, Wings of Desire, Tune in Tomorrow and more importantly VIBES!!!! We will pour out some cigar ash in your honor today.

I usually just lurk on this site and love the witty repartee of the commenters, but with regard to my all-time favourite actor, Peter Falk and the role of Detective Columbo he made famous, I'm adding this link in a shameful bit of self-promotion.
I'm not sure how MK feels about posting video links, but I'll likely learn soon, one way or the other.

"Oh! And one more thing...." You will be sorely missed.. RIP

YOU AIN'T GOT NO MONEY!!!! MOVE THE FUCK ON!
~But.Seriously.Folks
Peter Falk is the best TV actor. Dude knew how to entertain. A legend. I loved that we never saw Mr. Columbo. FOKINCLOSS
I always loved Columbo, even as a little girl. RIP you sweet-faced man. Awwww, another legend is laid to rest. Alzheimer's is such a biatch, robs you of yourself.
Well it seems that all the actors I grew up with have either died or are dying, a shame life must come to an end gossipmagazineonline.com and greatvacationspots.net but that is one thing none of us can escape no matter who or what we are, Peter Falk rest in peace.
All my childhood icons are dying. I can feel a midlife crisis the size of Heidi Montag's fake titties coming on. I hope that Falk is reunited with his wife and his functioning memory.

Who are you calling silly cow?
RIP, LT Columbo, I loved that show!

AWWWW. . . centy, I been going through it lately. . . and your levity warms my heart.
RIP, Columbo.
I'm pretty sure he's from Peekskill, NY, and was always going back to do nice things for the community.
A decent guy.
I had no idea he was so old. He seemed timeless to me.

I love the pic MK posted... . . It's like he see's beyond and is like. . . BITCH PLEASE. . . U R Caught.
There's no better detective show on earth (and never will be) than Columbo. And the In-laws will always be one of my favorite movies ever--my dad used to just about kill himself laughing watching PF in that.
"SERPENTINE, SHELLY!"
"Staying alive...that's really the key to the benefit plan."
Great, underrated actor--he could do comedy and drama with equal aplomb. RIP, Peter Falk.

BIG LUV 2 the 1 that would BUST us. except for MK & SADE.
@ urmomma
You too.
Oh noooo. Not Falk! He was just like his character. He used to go to my gym for pickup basketball games on Saturday mornings. One day a valet took his Benz, I mean really took it. What health club has a valet? But he fell for it. Got the car back though. Last time I saw him he was pulled over by a cop on the San Bernadino Freeway out near Fontana. He was in a trenchcoat, walking around his car, flapping his arms, doing his Colombo schtick to get out of a ticket. I bet he got out of that ticket.
Sadz :( I liked him in Roommates, which ironically appears to be life imitating art now :\

Very sad. So long, Columbo. :(
A Woman Under the Influence is so brilliant and kind of hard to watch. In a good way.
Best tv detective, ever.

My grandmother had Alzheimer's and she died three weeks ago, peacefully in her sleep

I am sorry, Callan.
*good vibes for you, too*

Hell, everything would be better with stick ponies-MK
I think he was one of the Little Rascals too, once upon a time.
I didn't know he had Alzheimer's. I just read that Glen Cambell has it too. Fucking sad.
You will be missed, Peter.

I always loved watching him (also Murder She Wrote and Matlock....ermmm).
RIP.
I agree with the others who cite Muder by Death as their favorite Peter Falk role.

From the 1:37 mark. RIP Sam Diamond.
Words can't express how much I enjoyed watching Columbo over the past 30 years. That character is by far one of the greatest to ever hit television. Murder By Death is a classic, too!
RIP Mr. Falk

awww..not my Peter Falk...we have the same birfday!! That sucks...I loved Columbo...always rooted for him...he was smarter than the slickest people he caught...and got them all thinking he was a bumbling buffoon....what a class act...rip sweet Peter!!
Not Columbo!!!!!!! I used to each those movies with my grandma. She loved her crime solving trifecta- Columbo, Matlock, and Walker Texas Ranger.

Very sad. Glenn Campell's got Alzheimer's, too. Awful disease.

Oh noooo.. not the Rhinestone Cowboy ??!!!
He was awesome in the original True Grit.
Bummer. Good guy. It's a small part, but I dug him in "It's AMad, Mad, Mad, Mad World." He and Eddie "Rochester" Anderson played cabbies. Fun old movie.

I cannot wait for Gaza to show up bitching about people saying RIP, and calling him Peter.
-----------------------------------------------
Yes! It is THE highlight of any death thread. Bonus for mention of: double wide, the word 'passed' or 'passing' teddy bears, roses, Walmart and trash...
******************************
AHAHAHAHA! Don't forget FAT. Gaza loves to call mourners of celebrities fat, shut ins!
Hahahahahahaha! I forgot about Gaza'a hatred of "passed", which is often followed by "they didn't have gas, they DIED!"
Columbo is one of the best shows ever. How ironic he was best known as a forgetful detective, and became a victim of Alzheimers. RIP Mr. Falk.
That "just one more thing" line was brilliant MK.
********************************************
I've written a letter to MK...saying...I...love...youuuuuu.
RIP Peter Falk...You were always fun to see in movies/TV shows.
Dlaugher: yup, There is a Columbo board game.
http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/4903/columbo-detective-game
You will have to scout the thrift stores and eBay. Not the greatest game, but it has cool 70's vibe graphics and of course Columbo-that is why we bought it!
fuck, fuck and mother-fuck fuck. he was a fave - RIP Peter.
My favorite of PF's films has to be "The In-Laws", with Alan Arkin. If you haven't seen it and you enjoy laughing, I recommend renting this gem. (DO NOT RENT the remake. It's horrible.)
Very sad. Glenn Campell's got Alzheimer's, too. Awful disease.
Way to kill Peter Falk, Honey Badger! Jeez!!
Uh, I was just kidding when I wished a celebrity dead on the JLo thread!
Educate yourself on the badass, not-fuck-giving honeybadger, Olivia! ~MK
Now crime is really going to skyrocket.
So many memories of sitting on my staircase, just listening to the NBC Mystery Movie theme by Henry Mancini! (I was hiding while my parents watched). Funny, Mancini did the Pink Panther music, too!
He was brilliant in Wings of Desire, playing a version of himself filming in a movie in Berlin. And, of course, A Woman Under the Influence with Gena Rowlands. Masterpiece! He will be missed.
Loved him in Murder by Death. RIP

Sad. Wait, did you mention the Cassavetes movies, MK? He was pretty great there too. Loved when Cassavettes was in a Columbo episode too. I believe Fishsticks mom was his wife?
Loved seeing the recurring character actors on Columbo, like Vito Scotti.
Ewlulu, there's a Columbo board game?? how has no one bought me that?
Well, we knew this was coming, Peter, but it is still sad. Thanks for all the great stuff.

That's sad. He seemed like a nice enough guy. RIP.
Rest In Peace!
Yes! Vibes! With Julian Sands. RIP Mr. Falk, but it's always a good day when there's a reference to a Julian Sands movie.
OMG! I told my husband that very sentence when i read about this this morning. "woke up and said, One more thing" too weird!

Loved him in Murder by Death. I might be weird for this but I thought him very hot when he was younger.
--------------------
It's not weird. He was a Virgo (Sept. 16).
Virgos are very often, quite hot..at least in the looks dept..
He seemed to be a gentlemen and a classy guy. So rare these days. RIP
:( :( :(
And, yes, I will make those sad faces when Michael Douglas croaks too.
