Naomi Campbell Thinks This Ad Is Racist, Thankyouverymuch
Naomi Campbell is threatening to throw a lawsuit right at the faces of Cadbury for using her name and comparing her to a chocolate bar in one of their new ads. The "diva" Cadbury is referring to could be their bitchy office manager Naomi Lewis, but Naomi Campbell thinks this is about Naomi Campbell. Which it totally is. The diamonds give it away. Cadbury should've thrown in a blood-soaked maid's uniform and a broken BlackBerry too.
Naomi released this short statement to The Independent. A statement that will make every executive at Cadbury trade in their BlackBerry for an iPhone, because don't think that Naomi can't control any BlackBerry WITH HER MIND!
"I am shocked. It's upsetting to be described as chocolate, not just for me, but for all black women and black people. I do not find any humour in this. It is insulting and hurtful."
Cadbury has since apologized, saying they didn't mean to offend anybody. They have also pulled the ad and will not run it again. Instead, they are retooling the ad for their new Bliss white chocolate and nuts bar and plan to use the tagline: "Move over Karl, there's a new kunt in town!"

1. What does it matter what hemisphere it is in? There's no connection between American slavery and Tibet.

Racism used to refer to lynchings, slavery, segregation. Now it refers to using chocolate to refer to a skin color--coming from an african american who is wealthy and more fortunate than 99% of the people on earth

However real racism was always a manifestation of white supremacist ideas, at its core - usually used to deny people basic human rights. It has become more subtle - especially if you are not black - but is still manifest in poor public education, massive black incarceration, high infant mortality and low life expectancy for African Americans that have barely changed in some parts of the US in 50 years. I kind of like the ad. I suppose there is a racial reference to "chocolate", but it's not a bad one. There are no bad connotations to chocolate (unless Naomi owns cacoa plantations that practice child labor and blackberry abuse).
On the other hand, the diva reference and the diamonds are obviously an insult to Naomi. I like the ad for that alone, but the thought of Naomi Campbell and her blood diamonds (and chocolate child soldiers killing each other) does not make me want to eat chocolate, so it fails (or succeeds, since I'm trying to eat less chocolate). The race card was the only one she had, and there's not much Cadbury can do now that's been played, except ditch the stupid ad.
She needs to quit bringing other black women into it. She is the only crazy abusive asswipe Cadbury is talking about. Her pretending to care about the feelings of anyone else is laughable. Idiot.
