Gilbert Gottfried Is Sorry For Making Those Tsunami Jokes

March 15, 2011 / Posted by:

Gilbert Gottfried returned to Twitter today to spill out an apology for spending some of his weekend making jokes about the disaster in Japan. Jokes that eventually led to Aaaaaaflac firing him. But before we can get into Gilbert’s apology, can I just say how annoying it is that every time I type out Aaaaaflac I have to say it out loud. It sounds like my butthole hawking a loogie (yes, I know what that sounds like). I just had to share that. Here’s Gilbert’s apology. It helps if you picture my butthole saying it while trying to hawk a loogie at the same time.

“I sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by my attempt at humor regarding the tragedy in Japan. I meant no disrespect, and my thoughts are with the victims and their families.”

There are three responses to this mess. Some think it’s too tsun (it’s really too soon for the too tsun joke). Some think Aflac should’ve known that Gilbert is as offensive as a pair of CROCS. And some, like my mother, have no idea who Gilbert Gottfried really is and refer to him as “Gilbert Grape.” Personally, I see all three points of view. But mostly I agree with my mother, because I really want to hear Gilbert Grape as the next voice of the Aaaaflac duck.
